Thank you for making this video. I learned a bit as a newcomer in the mining business. I have an Asus ROG GTX 1060 6GB Strixx OC edition and I'm mining using nicehash. I can't find a very good thread for Overclocking my card using nicehash. What's the safest and fair oc setting can you suggest? Thank you in advance.
The actual performance related to my GPU's (GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb) are resume to 68.1 hash for all 4 GPU's. As operating system I use ethOS. The actual performance related to my GPU's (GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb) are resume to 68.1 hash for all 4 GPU's.For this "performance" I don't change nothing on my default settings. But I want to change the GPU's performance only undervolt and overclock GPU's without using BIOS modded. So, the settings use for mine are:
# -----My NANOPOOL Settings - ETC -----
# globalminer etcminer
# poolpass1 x
# poolpass2 x
flags --cl-global-work 8192 --farm-recheck 200
# globalcore 1000
# globalmem 1250
# globalpowertune 20
# autoreboot false
# custompanel publicsecret
# lockscreen enabled
# globaldesktop disabled
# globalname disabled
How I can change the settings in a way in which to increase the GPU's performance ? Also what command I must use (in terminal) to see the GPU's performance when mine ?Thank you.
MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OCV1, 6GB GDDR5 - 15MH/s at stock (pretty disappointed), but then they accepted +1000 on memory and hash rate jumped to 20MH/s + 200MH/s PascalCoin, power target to 68, I decided to keep them...
better to mine at stock rather than overclock because card life reduces and soon again you will have to change for new card unless you got more money to keep on changing cards. stock setting is better and with that card you can mine almost 2years+. i made a mistake by overclocking my 1070 card and got blew up after 9 months. so this time i bought 1060 card and mine with stock setting.
Overclocking makes very little difference to the lifespan of the GPU if you keep them cool, it works best when under volted. Occasionally a graphics card might fail, but it should be covered by warranty for the first year. If it fails in the following years it would of already paid for itself by then and be due for an upgrade.
When I drop my power down like you did in this example my hashrate goes way down. I have the same card and using afterburner as well. All other settings I did the same. It's weird that it works for you but I get a totally different result. Thought I did it exactly the same as this but it's not working the same.
The Graphics Card has its own processor the GPU, it can be of a slightly different quality from card to card. Some require more power and some can run faster than others.
The same Graphic Cards can have one of several brands of ram, each brand has its own characteristics.
All of the Graphics Cards will perform the same within its design spec but you'll see some differences when you push the cards to higher limits.
Very good comparison! You've got the settings right. A few advices from me:
1. Include Lyra2rev2 algo, which hosts coins such as Vert coin and Mona Coin, they are currently more profitable then Zcash for GTX 10xx series
2. When tweaking with MSI consider the following
- actual core speed (as opposed to + bumb) because every brand comes at different stock speed and they overclock fairly equal (same chip after all) and one should not try to memorize percentage or + setting
- core voltage as opposed to power limit % (you can tick voltage reading in MSI AB settings) I try to stabilize all my 1060s to 0.75. various combinations achieve that same result. Could be 60% PW and 0 core or 65% and +100 core (oddly when thermal limit is reached increasing the clock actually decreases the voltage. So in the end I think it's more comparable brand to brand if you say "for ethereum aim for 0.75 vcore and 1500 core clock" for zcash aim for 0.95 core and 1900 core clock
Please Help! I have a ZOTAC GTX 1060 6GB AMP running on Windows 10 (cracked). I ran the Claymore's Ethereum Miner and it was giving only 2.3 Mhs. I've seen videos where people get 16-20 Mhs with this card. But I couldn't even cross 3 Mhs. Please help me figure out if there is a way to get at least 18Mhs. Thanks !
Yes you can do that perfectly safe. For some coins it helps to reduce the core and increase the memory frequncy or vice versa. Zcash is a good example I leave the core and reduce the memory & PL to 80% gets the same performance as stock but with less power.
Try different things and see what works. If you get a black screen or freezes just power off your machine and it will restore default settings.
IMineBlocks I see, thank you, and does overclocking it while the power limit is at let's say 80 safe? I have tried it and my 980 hits 80% power usage every now and the hash rate has been increased, but is this ok to do? And thank you very much for responding, how do you find the time to respond with such a large following 😅.
Nice post man. Its all very basic info and is a good point of start for someone who has little to no experience. It also might be helpful to explain to people these cryptos are not worth the same amount of FIAT currenct each. It would be wise to explain the effect of what power will do to you profits.
What Comes Around™ gotcha. Yea I have a 1050ti that I am looking to get a board that will support it and the 1070 running SxS. My current board I misread and the two slots have to be in SLI to work. So getting a board from my friend that supports up to 7 cards.
As far as the 1070 goes, I am getting about 500 Sol/s at 240w total system power.
I prefer mid range or low range cards because I find it easier to reinvest using low range cards like the 1050ti. For instance 1050tis are quite easy to find used with a warranty but it's hard to find a used 1080ti.
Hope you are doing good my friend. never got my mining pc in the end, couldn't get hold of the rx 580s :( so just gave up. My old pc finally came back to me though so i've put another 1070 in it as pictured and have a second pc running a 1060 too. i'm making about £125 a month atm which im saving the coins to re-invest in more hardware then finally an actual racked setup next year :) Can't thank you enough for your channel and your encouragement to keep going :D
Justin Gomes For the price you can get a 1050ti for, yea that's good return. Also here's a tip. The lower end cards, like the 1050ti, are quite cheap and therefore reinvesting happens quite quick. So you can grow your rigs a lot faster than with expensive cards. Only downside is they will be less space efficient than higher end cards.

why the graphics card hashrate etherum gigabyte aorus gtx 1060 6gb 3X low compared to asus gtx 1060 6gb STRIX The first gives 20 MH / S the second gives 25 MH / S with option OC
possible to regulate this?
Thank you very much
I have a 750 memory oc with crucial memory on a 1070 but when I turn the power limit down from 90 to 65 it does less sol/s. So why turn the power limit down? I get 440 sol/s at power limit 90 and 390 at 65
IMineBlocks reducing the power on the 1060 doesn't affect the mining performance that much but the 1070 seems to need more power I have it at 90. The 1060 is a great card for mining considering the cost. Does the 3gb and 6gb make a difference? I have a 6gb
Hi there, i recently stop mining just before the recent recent cryptocurrency crash.
would like to seek your opinion if it's still profitable to get a rig for mining. as i will be having free power supply from accommodation. thanks
Your welcome. I am currently using nicehash miner because I am studying and making videos daily so I don't have the time to mess around with different miners. Anyways, as for which card to invest in, it really depends. You need a "stingy businessman" approach to things and you can get ROI in 2 months (I AM NOT JOKING, I even have a video on this). If you want a safe and hassle free way of making ROI then I would recommend you use the nicehash profitability calculator (https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator). It is more or less accurate, select a card you think you can get for around 800 pounds, then put in the electrical cost as 0 and under the custom settings put in the price you can get a GPU for and you will get your ROI, it is more or less accurate. If you are really adventurous and want a crazy quick ROI then I'd recommend getting a used GPU that still has a warranty, then maybe even list it for sale for 1.2 times the original price while you mine (How I got ROI in 2 months).
What Comes Around™ thanks... but I'm looking to invest 800 pounds for 80-100 mh for eth. Do you know roughly when I can get back my return. I heard many coins going to change to POS.. which mining will then be redundant
Do you have a multi gpu system with Amd & Nvidia gpus?
You can set which devices you want to use by adding -di 0123 to your config. In this example is means mine using gpus 0123, can also use -di 03 or select any gpu you like.
Hi bro, I like your job is very good and clear , excuse me, I would like to start this mining in my apartment can you help me please , I will start for 6 GPU now what your advice for me to buying good and correct parts please please help what parts I need to start from A-Z , and in future I make it more GPU .
Also Gtx 1070 is good for mining or your advice another card ? Best card for mining
Thank you so much
Please , please , please
Mr. Ali no problem and I got 1060 but if you can get 1070 then get that you will make almost .50 more daily. Go to this site you check your profitability https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator
Hai sir, just wondering how much 1060 max i can setup in 1 mining rig? Im planning to max 12x 1060 on biostar tb 250 pro. But i read in some forum that nvidia driver only supported 8 GPUs, more than that the miner are not stable. Your kind advise very much appreciated, or any other are welcome to advise. Tq. Oh ya i prefer to use nichehash, so that mean i need to run window.
A little off topic but you appear to be uptodate about GPU and external connections. Would it be possible to use these extenders to build a rig to house a graphics card to use with a LAPTOP via USB or HDMI ? ( sorry for my ignorance ) I am looking to boost my laptop graphics output. Kind regards
Its likely that the profit will be reduced after 14 months of mining, but the GPU will still retain 30-50% of its value. At this point you can continue mining (if profitable), sell gpus or sell and upgrade for new hardware.
Electricity costs make a huge difference when mining and will be a factor in the life cycle of the GPU.
IMineBlocks I'm afraid I have to disagree. After 14 months the hardware is obsolete and will be making little (if any) profit due to difficulty and block time increases. You will need to re-invest in new hardware at that time which again would set you back.
Why would you spend money on a big aftermarket heatsink if you're going to undervolt anyway? Just go for the cheapest 1060, you're going to have a faster roi.
The strix 1060 is 300 euros, the cheapest one is 200.
Many GPUs perform better on certain algorithms, and in certain condition some can really out perform the competition. Its good when the market is in your favour but not so good when the coin price dips and you'd really like to be mining Equihash. I personally try to hedge with a mix of gpu brands as and when I can. I do in fact have a RX560 Rig which mines very well!
Thank you for taking your time to conduct the tests, and sharing your results. It is worth remembering that each card can give slightly different results, so each person should do their own research. If you have time, it may be beneficial for your viewers to explain exactly which steps you took to derive your optimum settings, and which software you use, which may in turn enable viewers to conduct their own benchmarks for their own hardware, and tweak their card's performance for optimal gains.
i have 4 rigs with 1060 and i can confirm that single card is different results than 6 cards. zcash with rig and 6 cards is not 350 sol i can be sure. i usedsingle card for test too and they were more fast than when i use in the rig with all togheter cards
Very useful video. Enjoyed. I have one rig with 6 of these GPU (Asus ROG GTX 1060 6GB) and i find them very power efficient and most of all not noisy at all. Usually temperatures in range 55 to max 62. I have no extra fans (just the 3 GPU´s fans). Was surprised you managed to have it stable with +800MHz on memory clock. My limit has been +525MHz.
I noticed you used Driver Version 385.41. At Asus website, the support page for this GPU they say to use Driver Version 372.70. Any reason you used that driver instead?
Those tests draw much useful picture of the card. thanks man :D. btw so many share added while testing zcash. I am testing on asus 1060 and gigagypte 1080 and if i get 4 shares per temp wattage table that is it.... so strange I also noticed mining dcr on my testing pc i get about 9x amount of shared compared to eth shares while i mine i sumplemine i dont get more the 3x. (188 eth shares found/1795 dcr share found --- simplemining 188 shares found /531 dcr shares found) and that is consistent ... to dont know :/
Thanks for watching, I did use the custom fan setting when I had a 2nd gpu alongside it. But honestly the fans and heatsink are so good that it rarely gets above 60C on minimal fan (auto) so you don't need the custom fan profile for normal usage.
Internet. Hurricane Irma damaged our infrastructure so I can't really mine. I lose at least a third of my shares due to latencies hitting as high as 8,000 to 12,000 ms. But even when it's working I'm usually around 150ms or so for normal. I live in south florida so it's not the greatest location for latencies.
The problem with the Vega is the cost and the cost to power. It's way too risky of an investment. The power cost make it very risky if the price of crypto decline. It's hash to watts is not good either. It may hash a bit more, but the power costs outpace the extra hash.
