Theres no way +800 Mhz overclock is safe for mining long term.
IMineBlocks (1 month ago)
Based on what facts? The card is undervolted, using less power and producing less heat. I have 12 Palit GTX 1060's all with very high overclocks and are all working fine. They're mining 24/7
Mark Kingsley Simeon (5 months ago)
Is it worth it to mine on a single 1060?

i downloaded the EBWF miner the newest one and use the same card us - but for some reason my miner wont start at all. i have a new windows installed etc.
Daniel Thillerup (8 months ago)
i tried bminer instead and get around 350 to 360 sols with your settings.
Crypto Fish (8 months ago)
The overclock settings seem to work for me for now, thanks.

Thank you for making this video. I learned a bit as a newcomer in the mining business. I have an Asus ROG GTX 1060 6GB Strixx OC edition and I'm mining using nicehash. I can't find a very good thread for Overclocking my card using nicehash. What's the safest and fair oc setting can you suggest? Thank you in advance.

The actual performance related to my GPU's (GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb) are resume to 68.1 hash for all 4 GPU's. As operating system I use ethOS. The actual performance related to my GPU's (GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb) are resume to 68.1 hash for all 4 GPU's.For this "performance" I don't change nothing on my default settings. But I want to change the GPU's performance only undervolt and overclock GPU's without using BIOS modded. So, the settings use for mine are: # -----My NANOPOOL Settings - ETC ----- # globalminer etcminer maxgputemp 85 stratumproxy enabled proxywallet <my_wallet_adress> proxypool1 etc-eu1.nanopool.org:19999 proxypool2 etc-eu1.nanopool.org:19999 # poolpass1 x # poolpass2 x poolemail <my_e-mail_adress> flags --cl-global-work 8192 --farm-recheck 200 # globalcore 1000 # globalmem 1250 globalfan 85 # globalpowertune 20 # autoreboot false # custompanel publicsecret # lockscreen enabled # globaldesktop disabled # globalname disabled How I can change the settings in a way in which to increase the GPU's performance ? Also what command I must use (in terminal) to see the GPU's performance when mine ?Thank you.

MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OCV1, 6GB GDDR5 - 15MH/s at stock (pretty disappointed), but then they accepted +1000 on memory and hash rate jumped to 20MH/s + 200MH/s PascalCoin, power target to 68, I decided to keep them...
SuubzTV (9 months ago)
I also have the same results with the same card. I use HiveOS with ethminer. Were u able to improve ur config?
Ahmed Mohammed Khalaf (10 months ago)
I got 19-20 mh mining ether after OC without OC I only get 15 mh my card is same asis strix 6gb but the memory is hynix can anyone help :)
Travel Wire (11 months ago)
better to mine at stock rather than overclock because card life reduces and soon again you will have to change for new card unless you got more money to keep on changing cards. stock setting is better and with that card you can mine almost 2years+. i made a mistake by overclocking my 1070 card and got blew up after 9 months. so this time i bought 1060 card and mine with stock setting.
IMineBlocks (11 months ago)
Overclocking makes very little difference to the lifespan of the GPU if you keep them cool, it works best when under volted. Occasionally a graphics card might fail, but it should be covered by warranty for the first year. If it fails in the following years it would of already paid for itself by then and be due for an upgrade.
Just Fuck You (11 months ago)
i get about 28 mh with core maxing at 2114 and memory maxing at 4400 with my gtx 1060 6gb oh btw mining with nicehash
Dan Leavitt (11 months ago)
When I drop my power down like you did in this example my hashrate goes way down. I have the same card and using afterburner as well. All other settings I did the same. It's weird that it works for you but I get a totally different result. Thought I did it exactly the same as this but it's not working the same.
Dan Leavitt (11 months ago)
Ah got it. Thanks for the info.
IMineBlocks (11 months ago)
The Graphics Card has its own processor the GPU, it can be of a slightly different quality from card to card. Some require more power and some can run faster than others. The same Graphic Cards can have one of several brands of ram, each brand has its own characteristics. All of the Graphics Cards will perform the same within its design spec but you'll see some differences when you push the cards to higher limits.
Dan Leavitt (11 months ago)
Thanks for your reply. Looks like my sweet spot is about 70%. I can get decent hashrates there. When you say chip quality are you talking about the CPU? and memory brand your talking RAM?
IMineBlocks (11 months ago)
It can depend on chip quality and memory brand. Try reducing your power limit down from 100 in 10% increments. You should be able to find a sweet spot for the performance and efficiency of your gpu.

I bought a asus gtx 1060 dual for £210 today , its the 6 version and the OC model, also brand new and sealed
Hristo Hristov (11 months ago)
Very good comparison! You've got the settings right. A few advices from me: 1. Include Lyra2rev2 algo, which hosts coins such as Vert coin and Mona Coin, they are currently more profitable then Zcash for GTX 10xx series 2. When tweaking with MSI consider the following - actual core speed (as opposed to + bumb) because every brand comes at different stock speed and they overclock fairly equal (same chip after all) and one should not try to memorize percentage or + setting - core voltage as opposed to power limit % (you can tick voltage reading in MSI AB settings) I try to stabilize all my 1060s to 0.75. various combinations achieve that same result. Could be 60% PW and 0 core or 65% and +100 core (oddly when thermal limit is reached increasing the clock actually decreases the voltage. So in the end I think it's more comparable brand to brand if you say "for ethereum aim for 0.75 vcore and 1500 core clock" for zcash aim for 0.95 core and 1900 core clock Good luck

What Comes Around™ (1 year ago)
Hey there, I have a question for you. I have a GTX 980 which I cannot undervolt, is there anything I can do to improve power consumption efficiency?
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
No problem, good luck with your mining.
What Comes Around™ (1 year ago)
IMineBlocks Thank you very much Lee, I really appreciate the help 🙂👍
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Yes you can do that perfectly safe. For some coins it helps to reduce the core and increase the memory frequncy or vice versa. Zcash is a good example I leave the core and reduce the memory & PL to 80% gets the same performance as stock but with less power. Try different things and see what works. If you get a black screen or freezes just power off your machine and it will restore default settings.
What Comes Around™ (1 year ago)
IMineBlocks I see, thank you, and does overclocking it while the power limit is at let's say 80 safe? I have tried it and my 980 hits 80% power usage every now and the hash rate has been increased, but is this ok to do? And thank you very much for responding, how do you find the time to respond with such a large following 😅.
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Yes, try reducing the Power Limit of the card using Afterburner. I run my GTX970 at 80% and it gets near the same performance but uses much less power.
Marcus Watkins (1 year ago)
Nice post man. Its all very basic info and is a good point of start for someone who has little to no experience. It also might be helpful to explain to people these cryptos are not worth the same amount of FIAT currenct each. It would be wise to explain the effect of what power will do to you profits.

Hi Lee, was thinking bout getting a 1080ti to mine with. What are your thoughts?
What Comes Around™ (1 year ago)
That's great. Good luck buddy ;D
Marcus Hill (1 year ago)
What Comes Around™ gotcha. Yea I have a 1050ti that I am looking to get a board that will support it and the 1070 running SxS. My current board I misread and the two slots have to be in SLI to work. So getting a board from my friend that supports up to 7 cards. As far as the 1070 goes, I am getting about 500 Sol/s at 240w total system power.
What Comes Around™ (1 year ago)
I prefer mid range or low range cards because I find it easier to reinvest using low range cards like the 1050ti. For instance 1050tis are quite easy to find used with a warranty but it's hard to find a used 1080ti.

My 2 /1050ti's make about $1.30 - $1.90 a day on nicehash ...is this good?
What Comes Around™ (1 year ago)
Justin Gomes For the price you can get a 1050ti for, yea that's good return. Also here's a tip. The lower end cards, like the 1050ti, are quite cheap and therefore reinvesting happens quite quick. So you can grow your rigs a lot faster than with expensive cards. Only downside is they will be less space efficient than higher end cards.

pc_enthusiast eng (1 year ago)
I have a 750 memory oc with crucial memory on a 1070 but when I turn the power limit down from 90 to 65 it does less sol/s. So why turn the power limit down? I get 440 sol/s at power limit 90 and 390 at 65
pc_enthusiast eng (1 year ago)
IMineBlocks reducing the power on the 1060 doesn't affect the mining performance that much but the 1070 seems to need more power I have it at 90. The 1060 is a great card for mining considering the cost. Does the 3gb and 6gb make a difference? I have a 6gb
pc_enthusiast eng (1 year ago)
IMineBlocks I did try - 100 on the core but was still getting less sol/s . Should I reduced the core speed more?
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Try reducing your core clock speed. Faster memory with a slower core should use less power whilst giving the extra performance.

Hi there, i recently stop mining just before the recent recent cryptocurrency crash. would like to seek your opinion if it's still profitable to get a rig for mining. as i will be having free power supply from accommodation. thanks
What Comes Around™ (1 year ago)
Your welcome. I am currently using nicehash miner because I am studying and making videos daily so I don't have the time to mess around with different miners. Anyways, as for which card to invest in, it really depends. You need a "stingy businessman" approach to things and you can get ROI in 2 months (I AM NOT JOKING, I even have a video on this). If you want a safe and hassle free way of making ROI then I would recommend you use the nicehash profitability calculator (https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator). It is more or less accurate, select a card you think you can get for around 800 pounds, then put in the electrical cost as 0 and under the custom settings put in the price you can get a GPU for and you will get your ROI, it is more or less accurate. If you are really adventurous and want a crazy quick ROI then I'd recommend getting a used GPU that still has a warranty, then maybe even list it for sale for 1.2 times the original price while you mine (How I got ROI in 2 months).
Live Better (1 year ago)
What Comes Around™ thanks... but I'm looking to invest 800 pounds for 80-100 mh for eth. Do you know roughly when I can get back my return. I heard many coins going to change to POS.. which mining will then be redundant

Mr. Ali if you get 2 gtx 1060 the probability is the same as 1 1080ti and u can get 2 cards way cheaper then one 1080ti. I would do 6 1060 for now and later add more. Nicehash is very easy to use.

Richard Smith (1 year ago)
Ugh, at current Ethereum price it will take 14 months to pay off just the price of the GPU :(
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Its likely that the profit will be reduced after 14 months of mining, but the GPU will still retain 30-50% of its value. At this point you can continue mining (if profitable), sell gpus or sell and upgrade for new hardware. Electricity costs make a huge difference when mining and will be a factor in the life cycle of the GPU.
Richard Smith (1 year ago)
IMineBlocks I'm afraid I have to disagree. After 14 months the hardware is obsolete and will be making little (if any) profit due to difficulty and block time increases. You will need to re-invest in new hardware at that time which again would set you back.
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Compared with the 10-20 Years to get a return on Property or Stocks, I think 14 Months is very reasonable time for return.
Thank you! But I use nicehash and with it this is unusable :( becouse nicegash changes algorithms dinamicly.
Thank you! Which pool you can advice for Ethrerium (Dual) mining with small fee and with regular payouts?
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
To get the best return I would suggest you use a miner and pool of your choice and then you can tweak the settings and get the best return. Mostly you'll be mining Ethereum.
Mister Hills (1 year ago)
Why would you spend money on a big aftermarket heatsink if you're going to undervolt anyway? Just go for the cheapest 1060, you're going to have a faster roi. The strix 1060 is 300 euros, the cheapest one is 200.

IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Many GPUs perform better on certain algorithms, and in certain condition some can really out perform the competition. Its good when the market is in your favour but not so good when the coin price dips and you'd really like to be mining Equihash. I personally try to hedge with a mix of gpu brands as and when I can. I do in fact have a RX560 Rig which mines very well!

Thank you for taking your time to conduct the tests, and sharing your results. It is worth remembering that each card can give slightly different results, so each person should do their own research. If you have time, it may be beneficial for your viewers to explain exactly which steps you took to derive your optimum settings, and which software you use, which may in turn enable viewers to conduct their own benchmarks for their own hardware, and tweak their card's performance for optimal gains.

Usually temperatures in range 55 to max 62. I have no extra fans (just the 3 GPU´s fans). Was surprised you managed to have it stable with +800MHz on memory clock. My limit has been +525MHz. I noticed you used Driver Version 385.41. At Asus website, the support page for this GPU they say to use Driver Version 372.70. Any reason you used that driver instead?

I just used the latest driver available. Older drivers work well for older GPUs like my GTX 970 when mining Eth on Win10.
Vlad The Inhaler (1 year ago)
Jorge Lopes Just for mining, many nvidia cards mine better on older drivers.

IMineBlocks will a 800 memory oc damage the card?
K S (1 year ago)
Those tests draw much useful picture of the card. thanks man :D. btw so many share added while testing zcash. I am testing on asus 1060 and gigagypte 1080 and if i get 4 shares per temp wattage table that is it.... so strange I also noticed mining dcr on my testing pc i get about 9x amount of shared compared to eth shares while i mine i sumplemine i dont get more the 3x. (188 eth shares found/1795 dcr share found --- simplemining 188 shares found /531 dcr shares found) and that is consistent ... to dont know :/

So based on your research, which coin would you choose to mine based on performance per watt on nvidia?

Great work but why no custom fan curve?
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Thanks for watching, I did use the custom fan setting when I had a 2nd gpu alongside it. But honestly the fans and heatsink are so good that it rarely gets above 60C on minimal fan (auto) so you don't need the custom fan profile for normal usage.

Good grief I wish I had your latency figures. Even when my internet actually functions right I'm in the 150ms range. :(
cracklingice (1 year ago)
Internet. Hurricane Irma damaged our infrastructure so I can't really mine. I lose at least a third of my shares due to latencies hitting as high as 8,000 to 12,000 ms. But even when it's working I'm usually around 150ms or so for normal. I live in south florida so it's not the greatest location for latencies.
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
Is it due to your network provider or a internal issue (using wifi)?

hynix sux on nvidia, sell it and buy one with samsung memory.
Vlad The Inhaler (1 year ago)
Vo Dai Truyen Use the drivers he mentions, 358.41

What about simplemining OS anyone can share settings?
Atletiks Fitness (1 year ago)
I can' t reach more than 4200 mhz :S
Power Up (1 year ago)
Just specify rig settings in the dashboard. It can be done for each rig via web interface.

Do the 560 & 1070 cards oc benchmark too
IMineBlocks (1 year ago)
The RX560 can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lt8Ohv-SnE
Lando Vador (1 year ago)
Do the same test for the 1070, that would help a lot. Thanks
MTLWAKEUP (10 months ago)
556 sols on my 1070 ti overclocked myself. good temps with my MSI titanium. zcash, ewbf also.

You are lucky! I've looked at free energy solutions and even solar energy solutions are very expensive.
Bas Zonneveld (1 year ago)
Think about a "all in one package", so water, electricity e.g. included. I pay less then 1 rig of 4 cards produce...;)
Nasdaq trader (1 year ago)
That's nice, that's about how I like running my cards, with fans 54%, 59-66C! How do you get the free electricity? Is it an arrangement with some company?
Bas Zonneveld (1 year ago)
165-170w, i have free energy ;) i can get more out (like 2050 sols)...but cards get to hot then. Now at 59-66C and fan 50%
Schmonkee Shomky (1 year ago)
From my testing and data collecting, I can't find a card yet that can beat a 1070 hash per watts.
fef777777 (1 year ago)
u might find that the 1060 beats it at hash per £ and ROI
gamersxs (1 year ago)
A conclusion would have been nice.

conclusion is for you to make out based on the tests provided

Do the rx 560
GravyPouch (1 year ago)
Do the vega 56 next. (I heard it was a monero beast)
mr fool (1 year ago)
Crypto Krypto I agree. Hbm memory has a lot of potential but ain't nobody got time to wait for mining software optimization. As we all know, 1 cryptocurrency minute = 60 mins rl time
Schmonkee Shomky (1 year ago)
The problem with the Vega is the cost and the cost to power. It's way too risky of an investment. The power cost make it very risky if the price of crypto decline. It's hash to watts is not good either. It may hash a bit more, but the power costs outpace the extra hash.
