***UPDATE: 12/6/2017, MORE THAN 3 YEARS LATER.... The Left directionals still work perfectly. This fix was AWESOME and fairly simple to do!
SYMPTOM; When pushing the signal lever downward to activate the left directionals, instead of it flashing, there would only be a fast click sound- NO directional lights flashiing at all! The system was acting exactly like I had blown bulbs in both the front and rear (no load). The right directionals worked normally as did the Emergency flashers. Only the left (drivers side) was dead. This repair should work for a right side directional failure as well.
I would not have been so confident in doing this repair without first watching a youtube video done by EEP3ng (see it here;
Here's a good video showing how to get the steering column covers off and both stalk levers out;
** Be sure to take note of the direction his screwdriver is facing on the lower cowling screw.
I recommend watching both the videos above, then watch mine, as it shows more details of the actual repair. Their videos show broader aspects of this repair. Good luck. If this video helped you, please give it a thumbs up and click on some commercials (even for just a second).
BTW.... Many people who attempt this fix are simply putting down solder blobs on the contacts. While this can work, it does not seem to be working long term. If possible, solder on a small brass washer to the contact.
Listen… I NEED TO GROVEL FOR JUST A SECOND… please, Please, PLEASE…. If you find my video(s) fun or helpful in any way, I’d totally appreciate it if you’d click on any ads you see.
