Long-term investments definition including break down of areas in the definition. Analyzing the definition of key term often provides more insight about concepts. Long-term investments can be defined as: Long-term assets not used in operating activities such as notes receivable and investment in stock and bonds. Long-term investments refer to what many of us think of when we talk about investments, investments like stock and bonds. The term investment can be confusing because investment can mean different things in different contacts. For example, all assets are an investment in some way because the reason the company has assets is for those asset to help generate revenue in the future, the company investing in asset in order to receive a return. What is short selling? Join our Fall Trading Contest and win $500 when you practice trading: https://www.wallstreetsurvivor.com/register?utm_source=Youtube&utm_medium=VideoLink&utm_campaign=FallContest Most people think of investing as buying a stock (or other asset) and making money when its price goes up - but it’s also possible to make a profit when a stock price goes down. This process is called short selling (or shorting). Short selling isn’t all peaches and cream. There are opportunities for high returns, but as usual, these come with high risks. The big risk here is that there is no limit to your losses. When you buy a stock, you can only lose the amount that you invested. But when you short, your losses are infinite because there is theoretically no end to how high a stock’s price can rise. Short selling isn’t for everyone. It requires a lot of time and research, and a desire for high risks and high returns. Short selling is primarily used for speculator looking to make a profit when the market goes down or investing looking to hedge their position. The Stock Market Explained Simply: Finance and Investing Basics - Animated Film (1957)

10:20
The New York Stock Exchange (sometimes referred to as "the Big Board") provides a means for buyers and sellers to trade shares of stock in companies registered for public trading. The NYSE is open for trading Monday through Friday from 9:30 am -- 4:00 pm ET, with the exception of holidays declared by the Exchange in advance. The NYSE trades in a continuous auction format, where traders can execute stock transactions on behalf of investors. They will gather around the appropriate post where a specialist broker, who is employed by an NYSE member firm (that is, he/she is not an employee of the New York Stock Exchange), acts as an auctioneer in an open outcry auction market environment to bring buyers and sellers together and to manage the actual auction. They do on occasion (approximately 10% of the time) facilitate the trades by committing their own capital and as a matter of course disseminate information to the crowd that helps to bring buyers and sellers together. The auction process moved toward automation in 1995 through the use of wireless hand held computers (HHC). The system enabled traders to receive and execute orders electronically via wireless transmission. On September 25, 1995, NYSE member Michael Einersen, who designed and developed this system, executed 1000 shares of IBM through this HHC ending a 203 year process of paper transactions and ushering in an era of automated trading. As of January 24, 2007, all NYSE stocks can be traded via its electronic hybrid market (except for a small group of very high-priced stocks). Customers can now send orders for immediate electronic execution, or route orders to the floor for trade in the auction market. In the first three months of 2007, in excess of 82% of all order volume was delivered to the floor electronically.[23] NYSE works with US regulators like the SEC and CFTC to coordinate risk management measures in the electronic trading environment through the implementation of mechanisms like circuit breakers and liquidity replenishment points.[24] Until 2005, the right to directly trade shares on the exchange was conferred upon owners of the 1366 "seats". The term comes from the fact that up until the 1870s NYSE members sat in chairs to trade. In 1868, the number of seats was fixed at 533, and this number was increased several times over the years. In 1953, the number of seats was set at 1,366. These seats were a sought-after commodity as they conferred the ability to directly trade stock on the NYSE, and seat holders were commonly referred to as members of the NYSE. The Barnes family is the only known lineage to have five generations of NYSE members: Winthrop H. Barnes (admitted 1894), Richard W.P. Barnes (admitted 1926), Richard S. Barnes (admitted 1951), Robert H. Barnes (admitted 1972), Derek J. Barnes (admitted 2003). Seat prices varied widely over the years, generally falling during recessions and rising during economic expansions. The most expensive inflation-adjusted seat was sold in 1929 for $625,000, which, today, would be over six million dollars. In recent times, seats have sold for as high as $4 million in the late 1990s and as low as $1 million in 2001. In 2005, seat prices shot up to $3.25 million as the exchange entered into an agreement to merge with Archipelago and become a for-profit, publicly traded company. Seat owners received $500,000 in cash per seat and 77,000 shares of the newly formed corporation. The NYSE now sells one-year licenses to trade directly on the exchange. Licences for floor trading are available for $40,000 and a licence for bond trading is available for as little as $1,000 as of 2010.[25] Neither are resell-able, but may be transferable in during the change of ownership of a cooperation holding a trading licence. On February 15, 2011 NYSE and Deutsche Börse announced their merger to form a new company, as yet unnamed, wherein Deutsche Börse shareholders will have 60% ownership of the new entity, and NYSE Euronext shareholders will have 40%. On February 1, 2012, the European Commission blocked the merger of NYSE with Deutsche Börse, after commissioner Joaquin Almunia stated that the merger "would have led to a near-monopoly in European financial derivatives worldwide".[38] Instead, Deutsche Börse and NYSE will have to sell either their Eurex derivatives or LIFFE shares in order to not create a monopoly. On February 2, 2012, NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Börse agreed to scrap the merger.[39] In April 2011, IntercontinentalExchange (ICE), an American futures exchange, and NASDAQ OMX Group had together made an unsolicited proposal to buy NYSE Euronext for approximately US$11 billion, a deal in which NASDAQ would have taken control of the stock exchanges.[40] NYSE Euronext rejected this offer two times, but it was finally terminated after the United States Department of Justice indicated their intention to block the deal due to antitrust concerns. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Stock_Exchange

Real Estate Investing for Beginners: Expectation vs Reality

14:27
Let’s debunk some common myths about real estate investing, and share what it’s ACTUALLY like, no sugar coating - enjoy! Add me on Snapchat / Instagram: GPStephan Jeremy’s Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnMn36GT_H0X-w5_ckLtlgQ Financial Growth Conference: https://financial-education2.teachable.com/p/building-wealth-conference-2019-presented-by-financial-education Join the private Real Estate Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/therealestatemillionairemastermind/ The Real Estate Agent Academy: Learn how to start and grow your career as a Real Estate Agent to a Six-Figure Income, how to best build your network of clients, expand into luxury markets, and the exact steps I’ve used to grow my business from $0 to over $120 million in sales: https://goo.gl/UFpi4c First expectation: Real estate investing is passive. The reality is that creating the type of rental property to the point where it’s passive income takes a LOT of work. But the work is, at times, still ongoing. Eventually you’ll have a vacancy. Eventually you’ll need to fix things up again. Nothing will last forever. Sure, you can get a property manager who’ll handle much of this for you - but you will need to do SOME work yourself, even if it’s as small as choosing between finishes or approving bids on work. It won’t be an insane amount of work, but it will be something. So yes, real estate CAN be fairly passive…but it’s not passive if you don’t put in the work UPFRONT. Second Expectation: In order to invest in real estate, you need to do the repairs yourself or be a good handyman. The reality is that I can’t do anything besides change a lightbulb. While I do know some landlords who do the work themselves to save the money, this is absolutely not a requirement - and depending on how much your time is worth, it’s often cheaper just to pay someone else to do it the right way. It’s also worth noting that since all these repairs are a write off, you can write off the costs against your income…but, if you do the work YOURSELF, you cannot deduct the cost of YOUR OWN LABOR. Third Expectation: It takes a lot of money to start. The reality is that it often takes 10%-25% down to begin investing in real estate. This COULD be a lot depending on your definition of “ a lot,” and also on your area. Buying a property in Los Angeles would be significantly more expensive than in Kentucky, for instance. Where one person might be able to buy a property for $20,000 down, someone else might need $200,000. Fourth Expectation is that it’s often like the TV shows. The Reality is that it’s NOTHING like what they portray on TV. Oftentimes those TV shows will be loosely scripted around creating drama and creating a show that’s actually interesting enough to watch all the way through. Every episode needs a goal, a problem that arises, a solution to that problem, and then a resolution at the end. The real life problems that come up just aren’t that exciting or interesting. It’s often boring and mundane. The fifth expectation is that you’ll make a lot of money investing in real estate. The reality is that oftentimes one property won’t make you rich. Most mom and pop landlords won’t make a lot early on, but as they scale up, they can earn a significant amount of money from a lot of smaller sources. This is how many landlords start making money, enough to quit their jobs and invest in real estate full time. It’s growing your portfolio over one or two DECADES and accumulating those properties that might make you only $900 a month….but buy one of those every 18 months, and in 15 years you’re making $9000 per MONTH. That’s how most landlords make their money, and make a LOT of it. But the beginning will be slow and frustrating until you begin adding more and more to your portfolio. Are ICOs Safe to Invest in?

06:24
ICOs can make you a lot of money very quickly, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are without flaw. Only two things are certain in life, and ICOs are not one of them. You can make a lot of money with ICOs, but you can also lose them fast if you are not careful. As with any investment, it’s difficult to predict the success of a startup with absolute certainty. Similar to crowdfunding campaigns, companies might not complete the project or trick you into investing in their business without any intention of ever launching it. That is not unusual for an entirely new, mostly unregulated field. However, there are a few measures you can take to assess the credibility of a product and avoid getting scammed. Avoid Anonymous Teams Be wary if the developers of the project are either anonymous or unknown to anyone in the community. Sure, there might be instances when the developers are just new to the concept, but if they are not willing to put their reputation on the line, then it’s best to keep your money in your pocket. Only Invest in ICOs with Escrow Wallets One of the ways legitimate companies have managed to regulate ICOs is through the use of escrow. Therefore, if the developers don’t have an escrow wallet for investments, then nothing can stop them from running away with your money. Be Skeptical of Lofty Goals Another red flag you need to pay attention to is the goal of the project. If the developers have set unrealistic goals, it usually means that they don’t know what they’re doing. Or, worse, they don’t care and are just looking for a way to make a quick buck by scamming people. Don’t Invest in Just White Papers Legitimate businesses often show the status of their project, keeping investors in the loop. If the developers don’t release any proof of progress, such as beta code snippets, behind the scene documents and videos or beta/MVP versions, then most likely they don’t have anything to show. ICOs investments, as with any investment, for what matters, aren’t risk-free. The fact that the government doesn’t regulate ICOs can add to the feeling of uncertainty. However, things have changed dramatically since the inception of ICOs. Nowadays, blockchain startups impose restrictions on themselves and can provide sufficient transparency to earn the trust of investors. As already mentioned, contributions are stored in escrow wallets, and developers need several keys, including some from trusted third parties, to access the money. Moreover, companies need to provide comprehensive documentation to back up their projects, such as defined goals, recommendations from independent experts, and so on, to prove the legitimacy of their campaigns. http://ianbalina.com/hacking-venture-capital-making-millions-initial-coin-offerings-icos Website: http://ianbalina.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/diaryofamademan/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/diaryofamademan Snapchat: https://www.snapchat.com/add/diaryofamademan DIARY OF A MADE MAN LLC IS NOT PROVIDING INDIVIDUALLY TAILORED INVESTMENT ADVICE AND IS NOT TAKING SUBSCRIBERS PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN DISCUSSING INVESTMENTS IN ICOS. I think there's actually a place for this kind of content on Youtube but it needs to be labelled as what it is - A guide for Christians to deal with a bit of worry and stress. These are not 'Truths' for overcoming anxiety, nothing in their video even comes close to understanding what anxiety is or how to deal with it. It's the way they undermine the seriousness of actual anxiety that I have a problem with. CONVERTIBLE BONDS EXPLAINED - TESLA CONVERTIBLE BOND EXAMPLE

12:27
What is a convertible bond! A convertible bond is a debt instrument issued by a company in order to get financing. The company will pay a periodic interest rate on the borrowed amount and, like any other bond, the bond has a maturity date. But, unlike other bonds, the holder of the bond can choose between getting his money back or, converting his bonds for a pre-set number of shares in the company or common stocks. The decision depends on the value of the shares in that moment. If the market value of the shares is higher than the bond principal, it is better to convert. If the market value of the shares is lower, it is better to require the debt to be repaid. This video will discuss: What is a convertible bond - definition Why do companies issue convertible bonds - convertible bond advantages Why do investors buy convertible bonds Convertible bonds accounting What do you need to know as an investor in stocks that issue convertible bonds 3 convertible bond examples (Tesla convertible bond, Ctrip, 51Jobs) How do convertible bonds affect earnings (a bit of accounting) Convertible bonds conclusion What do I do? The King of High-Ticket Sales is one of the highest-paid and most respected consultants in the luxury and “high-ticket” space. Dan is the creator of High-Ticket Millions Methodology™, the world's most advanced system for getting high-end clients and commanding high fees with no resistance. Dan works exclusively with coaches, consultants, thought leaders and other service professionals who want a more sustainable, leveraged lifestyle and business through High-Ticket programs and Equity Income. Dan is one of the rare keynote speakers and business consultants that actually owns a portfolio of highly profitable business ventures. Not only he is a two times TEDx opening speaker, he's also an international best-selling author of over 12 books and the host of Shoulders of Titans show. Dan's availability is extremely limited. As such, he's very selective and he is expensive (although it will be FAR less expensive than staying where you are). Many of his clients are seeing a positive return on their investments in days, not months.
