How to Find Missing Command Prompt in Startup Repair or Forgot Password

04:28
Some of you have been saying that command prompt is missing from Windows Startup Repair - Advanced Options. And some of you have been saying that when you go into Advanced Options it asks for a password and you do not remember it so you can't access system recovery options. So hopefully this tutorial will help you get into Command Prompt from Startup Repair. First, you will need to restart your computer again. When you get to "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically" then click on "View Problem Details". Then scroll down and click on X:\Windows\system32\en-US\eroffpls.txt This will open Notepad. In Notepad click on "File" then "Open" and then double click "Computer" and then double click "Local Disk". Start typing in Windows and then double click on "Windows". Start typing SYS and then double click "System32". Start typing cmd and then right click on the "cmd" and click on "Open". This should open command prompt and you can then start the repair commands such as bootrec /fixboot. I recommend that you watch my other video on "How to fix Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically" at https://youtu.be/L26ft53EyGI If you still can't get to startup repair using this method then you can boot your computer with Windows 10 Install Media. If you do not have Windows 10 Install Media you can download it at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/ To boot with the Windows 10 Install Media as soon as you restart your PC you will have to tell the computer to boot from the disc. You may have to look up the instructions from your PC manufacturer on how to change the boot drive. It could be a key such as F2, F12, Delete, or Esc. Once you see the "Windows Setup" screen where it asks you to set the Language and Keyboard press SHIFT+F10 on the keyboard. This should bring up Command Prompt. Now you can type in the commands to start fixing Windows such as bootrec /fixboot. I recommend that you watch my other video on "How to fix Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically" at https://youtu.be/L26ft53EyGI

This could happen after Windows has installed certain updates that it finds incompatible with the software distribution or after you make certain changes to your system settings or certain applications you have installed on your PC. If you’re able to figure out the event that led to this problem, then you wouldn’t need to try all fixes, you could simply pick the method that is more likely to solve your problem and implement it. Method 1: Use the suggested restart option Method 2: Using the start-up repair tool. Method 3: Use the registry backup command called regback. This command replaces your registry configuration with the last known good configuration you have on your PC, so basically changing your registry configuration to the configuration of your most recent successful boot up. If all fixes fail, then you can consider running a system restore, for that you will need to make a bootable USB with Windows 10 installation files, I have included that in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5Nm1OE5ciU LINKS Subscribe to EasyTechs: https://goo.gl/dDSBNL If you would like to support us at EasyTechs, please feel free to donate to our patreon page on this link: https://www.patreon.com/easytechs Your donations are very much appreciated and would go a long way in growing the channel. Repair Windows 10 Using Automatic Repair [Tutorial]

10:26
Repair Windows 10 using Automatic Repair functionality built-into Windows. You can also achieve this troubleshooting menu by downloading the Windows 10 Media Creation tool through Microsoft (link below), burn to a CD/DVD/USB, and boot computer to media. Proceed to select "Repair Your Computer" option on the bottom right corner of the window after selecting language and keyboard inputs. Windows 10 comes with its own repair tool but sometimes Windows 10 Automatic Repair can’t fix your problems — this is that dreaded moment when the “Windows 10 Automatic Repair couldn’t repair your PC” message appears. This is a strange problem but fortunately for you, there’s a way to fix it. How To Fix “Windows 10 Automatic Repair Couldn’t Repair Your PC”? Fix – Windows 10 Automatic Repair couldn’t repair your PC Solution 1 – Use Command Prompt from Windows 10 Boot Options menu After your computer restarts several times, you should see Windows 10 Boot Options menu. When Boot Options menu appears, you need to do the following: Choose Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options. Select Command Prompt from list of options. When Command Prompt appears, enter the following lines and press Enter after each line in order to run it: bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd bootrec.exe /fixmbr bootrec.exe /fixboot Some users are also suggesting that you need to run additional chkdsk commands as well. To perform these commands, you need to know drive letters for all your hard drive partitions. In Command Prompt you should enter the following (but remember to use the letters that match your hard drive partitions on your PC): chkdsk /r c: chkdsk /r d: This is just our example, so keep in mind that you have to perform chkdsk command for every hard drive partition that you have. Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved. If you’re still having issues on your PC or you simply want to avoid them for the future, we recommend you to download this tool to scan and fix various PC problems, such as file loss, malware and hardware failure. Solution 2 – Boot to Safe Mode and run Command Prompt Users have reported that “Windows 10 Automatic Repair couldn’t repair your PC” message is sometimes caused by a bad driver, such as a Microsoft Windows driver for a wireless Logitech mouse, for example. If you’re having this problem and you use similar hardware, try this solution: After your computer restarts few times, you should boot to Boot Options menu. Choose Troubleshoot , then Advanced options, then Startup Settings. Click the Restart button, and your computer should now restart and give you a list of options. Choose Enable Safe Mode with Networking. When Safe Mode starts, you need to download updated version of the driver that’s giving you trouble. You can download the driver from manufacturer’s website, and you can save it to your USB flash drive. Press Windows Key + X and choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the list. When Command Prompt starts, enter the following and press Enter to run it: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Fix – “Windows 10 Automatic Repair couldn’t repair your PC” loop Solution 1 – Disable early launch anti-malware protection Sometimes you might get stuck in a “Windows 10 Automatic Repair couldn’t repair your PC” loop and this could be due to Early launch anti-malware protection option. To disable this option, follow these steps: After a few restarts, you should be able toaccess Boot Menu. In the Boot Menu, choose Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then Startup Settings. Your computer should now restart and give you a list of options. Choose Disable early launch anti-malware protection (it should be option no. 8). Restart your computer, and check if the issue has been resolved. It has been reported that this problem can sometimes appear again. If this happens, repeat all the steps and uninstall your antivirus software. Users have reported some problems with Norton 360 antivirus software (although we assume the problem can be created by other antivirus software as well), so after you’ve deleted this application, everything should go back to normal. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).

How to use the Bootrec.exe tool to repair startup issues in Windows

05:48
How to use the Bootrec exe tool to repair startup issues in Windows by Britec You can use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot and repair the following items in Windows Vista: A master boot record (MBR) A boot sector A Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store Note When you are troubleshooting startup issues by using the Windows RE, you should first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If the Startup Repair option does not resolve the issue, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool. Bootrec.exe options The Bootrec.exe tool supports the following options. Use the option that is appropriate for your situation. Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup issue, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. By doing this, you make sure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the Windows RE command prompt: bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup c: cd boot attrib bcd -s -h -r ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old bootrec /RebuildBcd /FixMbr The /FixMbr option writes a Windows Vista-compatible MBR to the system partition. This option does not overwrite the existing partition table. Use this option when you must resolve MBR corruption issues, or when you have to remove non-standard code from the MBR. /FixBoot The /FixBoot option writes a new boot sector to the system partition by using a boot sector that is compatible with Windows Vista. Use this option if one of the following conditions is true: The boot sector has been replaced with a non-standard Windows Vista boot sector. The boot sector is damaged. An earlier Windows operating system has been installed after Windows Vista was installed. In this scenario, the computer starts by using Windows NT Loader (NTLDR) instead of Windows Boot Manager (Bootmgr.exe). /ScanOs The /ScanOs option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. Additionally, this option displays the entries that are currently not in the BCD store. Use this option when there are Windows Vista installations that the Boot Manager menu does not list. /RebuildBcd The /RebuildBcd option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. Additionally, this option lets you select the installations that you want to add to the BCD store. Use this option when you must completely rebuild the BCD. Repair System Startup for Windows 7 [Tutorial]

12:13
I will show you how to fix a PC that cant boot into Windows anymore. If Windows isn’t starting properly, you can often use the integrated “startup repair” tool to fix it. This recovery tool will scan your PC for problems like missing or damaged system files. It can’t fix hardware issues or Windows installation problems, but it’s a great first place to start if you’re experiencing trouble booting into Windows. This tool is available on Windows 7, 8, and 10. You can access it from the built-in Windows recovery tools (if they built properly), recovery media, or a Windows installation disc. On Windows 7, you’ll often see the Windows Error Recovery screen if Windows can’t boot properly. Select “Launch Startup repair (Recommended)” on this screen to run startup repair. Windows will prompt you for your keyboard layout and a username and password for your PC. After it does, select the “Launch Startup Repair (recommended)” option. Windows will attempt to find and fix problems that can prevent your PC from booting. In some cases, the startup repair option in Windows 7 may not be available. You may be told you need to use a Windows installation disc to repair your computer instead. Launch Startup Repair From a System Repair Disc or Recovery Drive If Windows isn’t booting properly and won’t even allow you to use the startup repair option at boot, you can run startup repair from a system repair disc or recovery drive. If you haven’t already created a system repair disc or recovery drive, you can do so from another computer running the same version of Windows that isn’t booting properly. For example, if your Windows 7 PC isn’t booting properly, you can create a recovery disc on another PC running Windows 7 and use it to fix the problem. Windows 7 only allows you to create a recovery disc by burning a CD or DVD. Windows 8 and 10 allow you to create a USB recovery drive or burn a recovery disc, whichever you prefer. Once you’ve created a system repair disc or recovery drive, insert it into the PC that isn’t booting properly and boot from the disc or USB drive. You’ll be prompted to choose an installed version of Windows and you’ll see the same tools you could normally access from the boot menu. Select “Startup Repair” to run a startup repair operation. This recovery media will also allow you to use System Restore, recover your computer using a system image backup you’ve previously created, and run a Windows Memory Diagnostic to check your computer’s RAM for problems. You can also also do this right from a Windows installeation disc or USB drive. If you don’t have Windows installation media lying around, you can download a Windows 7, 8, or 10 ISO from Microsoft and either burn it to disc or copy it to a USB drive. It’s completely legal. Be sure to use media that matches the version of Windows you’re trying to recover—for example, Windows 10 installation media for a Windows 10 PC or Windows 7 installation media for a Windows 7 PC. Insert the disc or USB drive into the computer that can’t boot properly and boot from the device. On Windows 7, you’ll see a “Repair your computer” link in the same place. Click this and Windows will run the startup repair tool. This tool won’t fix every problem. In some cases, your Windows installation may be so damaged that reinstalling Windows is the only option. In other cases, even reinstalling Windows may not solve your problem, as it may be a physical problem with your PC’s hardware. How To Repair Windows 10 using Automatic Repair ✔️

03:53
Repair Windows 10 using automatic repair This video shows how the use the Automatic Repair Tool built into Windows 10. This tool can solve various problems including corrupt files, system partitions, boot sectors and drivers automatically. This tutorial also applies to users of Windows 8/8.1 If you are unable to boot into Windows to run this tool, check out my start-up repair video (which is basically a work around to get to the troubleshooting options): https://goo.gl/71jhyr Repair Windows 10 using Automatic Repair If your having computer problems like reboot loop or corrupt windows files using Automatic Repair to repair Windows 10 is a good start. Automatic repair or Start up repair can fix, resolve and help recovery of some common issues in windows 10. This solution may not fix all of your PC Boot up problems, but is a good starting point. It can resolve corrupt registry keys and Windows update related issue. Another common computer problem is having a corrupt software driver or program. Running Start-up Repair on your computer can fix problems that keep windows from loading on your computer or laptop. Remember this tool is not a one fix for all tool, it has its limitations, but all is not lost, you have other options open to you like, system restore, System image recovery, Refresh your pc and Reset your PC. Step 1: Place the CD or USB in your drive and proceed to boot from it Step 2: When the install screen pops up, look to the bottom left and select "Repair Your Computer". Step 3: You will now see a screen that says "Choose an option". Select "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced Options", and then "Start-up repair". Remember backing up you're data on a regular basis can save you a lot of hassle in the long run. Additional (Optional) Steps If The Tutorial Does Not Work For You: Windows 8 and 10’s advanced startup tools function differently than the tools on previous versions of Windows. If your Windows 8 or 10 system can’t boot properly, the tools will appear automatically so you can fix the problem. Once you’ve accessed the advanced startup options, you’ll need to click (or tap) the Troubleshoot option to access the troubleshooting and repair options. The Continue and Turn off your PC options will continue booting to Windows (assuming there isn’t a problem) or power off your computer. The Troubleshoot screen provides easy access to the Refresh and Reset your PC options. This is particularly useful if you want to refresh or reset your PC, but can’t get into Windows. Refresh your PC: Refreshing your PC restores its system software to its factory state without deleting your files or installed Modern apps. However, any installed desktop apps will be removed. Reset your PC: Resetting your PC (not to be confused with rebooting your PC) resets it to its factory state. Any personal files and settings on your computer will be deleted. If you just want to fix your computer and you’re not sure which option to pick, try Refreshing your PC so you don’t lose all your files. For more advanced troubleshooting and repair tools, click (or tap) Advanced options. The Advanced options screen holds the advanced troubleshooting and repair options. System Restore: Restore your computer to an earlier restore point. This is the same as using System Restore within Windows. However, if Windows 8 can’t boot, it may boot properly after you restore your PC to a working state. System Image Recovery: Restore your computer using a system image file. The system image overwrites your computer’s state and files. You’ll need to use Windows 7’s backup tools in Windows 8 to create a system image. Automatic Repair: Try to automatically repair issues that can prevent Windows from booting properly. If your computer can’t boot into Windows, this option is worth a try. Command Prompt: Open a Recovery Environment Command Prompt. This will allow you to run a variety of commands to troubleshoot and fix your computer. This option should only be used by advanced users who know what they’re doing. Startup Settings: The Startup Settings option allows you to modify a number of startup options. For example, you can enable Safe Mode from here. You can also disable automatic restart after failure – this option will allow you to see the error message if your PC is constantly blue-screening and rebooting. The advanced options here may allow you to fix the problem – the Automatic Repair option is particularly useful, and the System Restore or Safe Mode options may help you boot your computer. If none of these options work, you’ll need to perform a refresh (or a full reset.) This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).
