Science has shown that just chewing on something lowers stress. To avoid the calories, you can always just chew the sugar free gum. 2. Do yoga. It has been proven to lower resting cortisol levels and greatly reduce stress in its regular practitioners. Just 20 minutes of yoga will give you these effects. 3. Meditate. Just 5 minutes of concentrated deep breathing and meditation has been shown to both lower blood pressure and greatly reduce cortisol. There are plenty of free guided mediation apps for beginners that can be downloaded on your phone right now. 4. Walk away from the computer. Uninterrupted computer use has been associated with stress, lost sleep, and depression. Take frequent breaks throughout your day, and make sure to shut it off 1 hour before you fall asleep. 5. Cuddle something. Oxytocin, also called the cuddle hormone, gets released when you spend time with others or cuddle. This hormone has been shown to create a buffer against stress and will lower your heart rate and cortisol when released. 6. Listen to some stress relieving music. Research points to multiple ways in which music can help relieve stress and trigger biochemical stress reducers. There are plenty of great Youtube videos for this, and I will link my favorites in the description. 7. Watch a funny video. Laughter has also been show to reduce the physical effects of stress and lower blood pressure. So next time you’re feeling stressed or anxious, science says to watch a funny cat video! 8. Try progressive muscle relaxation. All the way from the fingers to the toes, tense and then relax each muscle group in the body. This will help relieve tension and you’ll find that once the muscles are relaxed, the mind will soon follow. 9. TURN YOUR FREAKIN PHONE OFF. Just talking on the phone has been shown to raise blood pressure. Whenever you need a break, just turn your phone on airplane mode for an hour and put it out of sight. 10. Hop off Facebook for a week. Facebook has been proven to make us feel sadder and less satisfied. Studies have also shown that when people deactivate it, they feel happier and less worried. 11. Go for a 10-minute walk. Just walking around your neighborhood for 10 minutes will boost endorphins and reduce stress hormones. If you can, walk in a park or a place with nature for greater effects. 12. Use your nose There are plenty of studies that support aromatherapy as a good way to reduce stress. Certain scents, like lavender and peppermint, have been shown to repeatedly reduce stress levels. 13. Take vitamin C. Vitamin C has been shown to stop cortisol in its tracks, and thus, lower your stress levels. If you don’t have a vitamin c pill or package around, you can always drink some lemon water for a quick boost. 14. Write your feels. Keeping a gratitude journal has been shown to make people feel happier over time. Even doing something as simple as writing out 3 new things you’re grateful for every morning in your phone will work. 15. Take a cat nap. Napping has been shown to reduce cortisol levels and aid in stress relief. A simple 20-30-minute nap is perfect for a boost of energy and a reduction in stress. 16. Have sex. Sex, well, at least after you’ve finished the deed, has been shown to reduce stress levels. 17. Buy a puppy. Studies have shown dog owners to be less stressed than others. Most likely from the ability to cuddle with something and take badass Instagram photos. How To Relieve Stress - Scientifically Proven Stress Relief Techniques

How To Relieve Stress - The absolute best ways to reduce your stress permanently and how to avoid gimmicks that don't work. The Ultimate Life Purpose Course - Create Your Dream Career: http://www.actualized.org/life-purpose-course Leo's Top 140 Self Help Books http://www.actualized.org/books Full Video Transcript Here: http://www.actualized.org/articles/how-to-relieve-stress Video Summary: Up to a point, stress is an unavoidable part of living. It has become more problematic as our modern world becomes more complex and frantic. To fail to acknowledge your role in creating the stress in your life will simply amplify it. Review what choices you've made, and whether you want to retract any of them for the sake of reducing your stress exposure. Stress tends to be reduced once we simply accept our choice to live with the stress-inducing situation, rather than pursue some alternative action. Positive, constructive ways to deal with stress include most notably meditation, sports, music, reading, and creative hobbies. Self-destructive, unhealthy methods for dealing with stress are easy to identify. Even innocuous-looking methods of stress relief can become a crutch that steals your quality of life and creates guilt and recrimination. Less obviously destructive diversions such as video games, the internet, and TV create a low consciousness that disengages you from your mission in life. Proactively exam what is causing the greatest stress in your life. If you choose to "just live with it," identify positive ways to mitigate that stress. Evaluate what negative stress reducing technique to eliminate to improve the quality of your life.

Reduce Stress Using Exercise and These Simple Strategies

17:34
This video is Part 2 of our recording from the Stress Workshop and this is where I show you some great tools and strategies to reduce your stress. Simple things like drink more water, get more sun, eat more protein and omega 3 are some of the easy stuff you can do right now. We also show you our really great exercise called the Stress Buster to help with mental stress. Exercise can be extremely beneficial to reducing stress however if it is abused it will create more harm than good. What people fail to understand is Exercise is STRESS. Sometimes it is good stress, other times it is bad STRESS. But either way it is stressful to the body that will force a change. If your body is healthy and has enough reserves, gets enough rest the exercise will have a positive effect. An example of good stress would be sprinting or weight training which has a great anabolic process. Anabolic means ( build and repair). As long as you dont do too many workouts in a row or too hard a workout you will get great results. However in the case of a marathon runner without enough recovery he will get either sick or injured very soon because his body is in a Catabolic State. Catabolic means (destructive ). He is basically breaking down his own body tissue to repair himself as he does not have enough time to recover and repair all the damage. Plus he cannot eat enough protein that contains the building blocks to repair muscle. Which is why the professional cyclists take time away from training and only compete in a few big races each year. If you still dont believe me take a look at their physiques. Most people want to look like Usain Bolt but use a training method like a marathon runner?? Dont you think this is a bit weird? Now you might think that this does not relate to yourself as you are not a runner. But this is where it gets very interesting because what you MUST understand is that it DOES NOT MATTER WHERE STRESS COMES FROM THE REACTION IS EXACTLY THE SAME! Meaning that work stress, financial stress, relationship stress is the same as exercise stress. So if you work out too much you sill suffer problems just like the person who never works out. So what I show you in this video is how you can be aware of that and make some small changes to your lifestyle habits so that you dont become uhealthy and worn out. 9 Ways to Relieve Stress Quickly: Powerful Strategies to Reduce Stress | How to Relieve Stress

09:35
Want to know how to relieve stress? In this video, I'll be sharing my 9 ways I love to use to reduce stress and anxiety. Method #1: Meditate. I know what you're thinking. "Sharon, I don't have time to meditate." We all have the same 24 hours in the day - having the time is all a matter of priorities. If you're stressed out all the time, it's more than likely that you're not being your best self and you're also not the best lover in all of your relationships. When we're emotionally and energetically drained, we struggle to give of ourselves fully. If doing it for you is not a big enough reason, do it for them too! Method #2: Exercise. One of my favorite things to do to relieve stress is exercise. It's why you often see me in my workout gear. Often, I do feel a sense of stress just pulling into the parking lot and trying to find a locker. This is my own personal experience, because the gym that I go to is very busy. If you find yourself in this same place where you're actually dreading the thought of going to the gym, you need to just consider the alternative. Consider the extra stress and other negative effects on your quality of life you will be left with if you don't. Make your happiness - and the happiness of everybody else who talks to you - a bigger priority than avoiding that short-lived pain. We're not just talking about a strong heart, healthy lungs, and a tight derriere. We're talking about de-stressing! Method #3: Long Walks. I did a video on this, and it's so important if you can actually be out in nature while you do it. You'll be shocked at how it reduces your stress! I'll leave a link to the video so you can take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFlRRPlX7So Method #4: An Art project. You can go to a class to create art on a canvas, or a clay molding class. Something else that has been really popular lately is adult coloring books. Another creative project that I enjoy is Sudoku. As long as it's an activity that channels your creativity while requiring some focus, it's an effective way to reduce stress by changing your state to a calm one while taking your mind off of negativity for a while. Method #5: Deep breathing. Breathing deeply is scientifically proven to reduce stress. It slows the heart beat, reduces blood pressure, and brings a healthy and therapeutic dose of oxygen to the brain. Method #6: Self Hypnosis & Tapping These practices are a bit more time consuming. There are programs you can purchase to guide you in hypnosis and make it easier, but you still have to lay down. I find tapping to be more convenient and doable because it's fast, making it something you can do often and on the sly. Method #7: Get a Massage. This is a luxury for many people, and not something that can fit into every budget. But if you can afford it, I highly recommend making time in your week for a massage. Method #8: Sex! Did I really just say that? Yup, because it's true. Studies have proven that the intimate moments we share help us reduce stress. Even if you're not totally happy with your spouse, do it anyway - it may even bring you closer together. Method #9: Hugging. My youngest daughter is just under 9 years old, and talk about pushing my buttons! She is a smart girl, but she really tests my patience from time to time. One of my favorite ways to release that is to just grab her and hug her... HARD. It looks like I'm squeezing the life out of her, but it's a win-win. She feels like I'm giving love to her, and I feel like I'm getting my frustration out WHILE enjoying her sweetness. Maybe you don't need to squeeze someone so forcefully, but getting a hug is something I definitely suggest. ********** Remember to SUBSCRIBE for inspiration, empowerment, and personal growth strategies to start your journey of WINNING at life! ********** My name is Sharon Koenig, and I'm an online entrepreneur and success strategist. How to Help Your Child Manage Stress | Child Anxiety

02:55
No child should suffer depression and anxiety without help, seek professional help for you and your child and here’s some resources for educating yourself along the way: Freeing Your Child from Negative Thinking: http://amzn.to/1jOAGeu How To Get Unstuck From The Negative Muck: http://amzn.to/1Pj1b7O Depression and Your Child: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers: http://amzn.to/1LiG97G What to Do When You're Scared and Worried: A Guide for Kids: http://amzn.to/1jOAOuH What to Do When You Worry Too Much: A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Anxiety: http://amzn.to/1JThS2M Watch more How to Deal with Child Anxiety & Depression videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/517472-How-to-Help-Your-Child-Manage-Stress-Child-Anxiety I'm here to help you manage your child's stress. Although we think that childhood is a time of carefree days, and no stress, children actually can get stressed just as much as adults can, and sometimes for similar kinds of reasons. Fist thing is to recognize when your child is feeling stress, and they may show some signs of anxiety or stress by being may be irritable or angry or short tempered. They may actually just feel overwhelmed and stressed by what's going on in their life, maybe they're procrastinating, and you think they're just being lazy when actually they just don't know where to start. One thing is to recognize that they might be stressed, then the next thing is to think about the cause of that stress. Is it that there's too much going on in their life? Is it that there's some particular topic or issue that's problematic? Some test at school, some peer social situation at school, is there's some stress in the home that actually your children are picking up on, and it's making them stressed as well. The first thing to do is to talk to your child to figure out where the stress is coming from, and one way to do that might just be to have a general conversation, and talk about what you observe like "I see may be you haven't been so happy lately" or "It seems you have a lot on your mind" So, label what you observe and have them start to tell you, and have a conversation about it. Don't assume that you know what's going on for your child, then what you can do is actually talk about the real feelings that are associated with that stress, not to say "I'm stressed" but to really pinpoint "I'm feeling frustrated." "I'm feeling worried about my test." "I'm feeling lonely." "I'm feeling left out by my friends at school." "I'm feeling worried that we're not going to have enough money since dad lost his job." Whatever it is, try to find out the source of that stress by going to the source which is your child. Once you've listened to your child, you can then start to problem solve together. So, what can we do depending on what the source of that stress is? Is it that they're so worried about their test, that they're going to need some kind of help with managing their school work, or managing their unrealistic expectations for grades, is it that there's a friendship situation that's causing them stress? Maybe it's time to talk about what's going on with their friends, and maybe think about some other strategies depending on their age, whether you intervene or whether you help a teenager with some other kind of stress that's happening in their friendship world. Whatever it is take it seriously, help solve those problems, and then see what you need to do to prevent that stress for your child, so that then once you do solve it, it doesn't come back.

Classes, exams, and homework can all cause a lot of stress - here's how to deal with it. This video is a collab with my friend Jess, who has a postgraduate degree in Psychology and runs her own education/study tips channel called Study With Jess! If you enjoy it, check out Jess' channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLE6bDbrn5kNG94-1VlH_XA Also, I made a video for her channel that's going live today right along with this one. It's about how to take better notes, and I'm way more excited than I need to be about the new whiteboard I got for the drawings in it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJCVeV2eIzU ---------- If you want to get even more strategies and tips on becoming a more productive, successful student, subscribe to my channel right here: http://buff.ly/1vQP5ar Twitter ➔ https://twitter.com/tomfrankly Instagram ➔ https://instagram.com/tomfrankly ~ created by Thomas Frank
