http://www.engvid.com Learn business English vocabulary: Whether you are investing in a bull or a bear market, you should know the common terms and expressions that stock brokers and mutual fund managers will use to discuss your options. In this lesson, we will go over some of the more common terms you will need to familiarize yourself with if you want to become rich. Playing the stock market is a risky business, so be prepared! http://www.engvid.com/business-english-vocabulary-stock-market/ TRANSCRIPT Hi again. I'm Adam. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. Today we're going to look at some business English, with an introduction to investing. Now, what is investing? Investing is putting your money someplace with the hope that more money will come back to you later. Okay? So it's making money over time. Many ways to do it, but today we're going to look more specifically at the stock market. Now, before we begin to look at the stock market, we need to know all the different words that you will find in the stock market discussion. Of course, we have to look at "stocks". So: "stocks" and "shares". Now, many people get confused: what is a stock? What is a share? Realistically, these are basically the same thing, but subtle differences between the two. So, when a company decides that it wants to make money, so it can expand its business, it wants to raise capital. "Capital", it's a big word, there's lots of meanings to it. We're going to look at that a different time. But for our case, "capital" means money. They want to make money, they want to raise capital so they can grow their business. So what they do is they sell stock. Stock is a partial ownership of the company. So when you buy stock, you get a piece of paper, you get a certificate that says that you own part of this company. And because you own part of the company, you have certain rights. You can make... You can vote for changes, you can vote for things that the company should do. Now, what is a share? A share is an equal piece of the stock. So, for example, a company sells $100 worth of stock. That's the full amount of the ownership that the company makes available to the public. Now, this stock, this total amount, they divide into 100 shares. Okay? So you buy as many shares as you want of this stock. So because you have 100 shares, the full stock is $100. Each share is, of course, $1. You buy 10 shares, that mean... That means you're buying 10% of the available stock. You're buying $10 worth of shares. Now, you own stock, you own shares in the company. In that case, it's the same thing. Now, when you talk about stocks, you can say: "I own stocks." So let's go to this word quickly: "portfolio". Your portfolio is the collection of your investments. You may have stocks, you may have mutual funds, you may have bonds, you may have commodities, you may have real estate. You may have all kinds of different investments. If part of your portfolio is stocks, you say: "I have some stocks." It means I can have five company's stocks. But when you say: "I have shares", then you have shares of a company. Okay? I have stocks in 10 different companies. I have shares... I have 10% or I have 100 shares in this company, I have 50 shares in that company, I have 2,000 shares in that company. But all together, you have stock. Okay? So it's a total amount of the companies that you own. Now, if you want to buy stocks or trade stocks, if you want to buy and sell your shares, you can contact a "stockbroker". Okay? A broker is somebody who deals with trades; buys, sells stocks on the stock market. These days, you can just go online and find a "brokerage" which is a website or a company that lets you buy and sell your own stocks and shares. Okay. Next: we have "IPO", this is "Initial Public Offering". Sorry I'm a little bit off line, here. When a company decides: "Okay, we need to make more money. We need to raise capital. We need to sell some stock of our company." So the first time that they sell this stock, there's a big event, you know, like it's a big promotion, they have to market it, they have to tell the public: "Look, we're going to sell stock. Get ready." This is the initial public offering. The first time that they sell stock. We actually don't say: "Sell". They don't sell stock; they issue stock. And then the stock brokerage or the stockbrokers, they buy and sell the stock. Next: "ROI". This is a very important thing to consider. "Return On Investment". Before you buy anything, before you invest your money in anything, you always have to consider your ROI. How much money do you hope to get back? How much money do you think you will get back? Because at the end of the day, a stock market is a gamble. There's high-risk and there's low-risk companies. Your return on investment, obviously, you're hoping to make money. You hope to get a positive yield.

The major indexes gave back some of their recent gains with the S&P 500 Index reaching a one-month low, as improving economic data renewed talk of the Federal Reserve starting to taper its bond purchases. Gold fell substantially, and bonds rallied on anticipation of higher interest rates. The volatility index (the VIX) is creeping upwards as well. Many factors are coming together to point to a taper, including less contentious budget negotiations in Congress, making an additional shutdown unlikely, along with some strong economic data released this week. Retail sales were released Thursday, showing a .7% increase for November, after rising .6% in October. Much of the gain is due to automobile sales. The jobless claims report was a big surprise on the weak side, however, showing new claims for the week ending 12/7 up a huge 68,000 to 368,000. On Friday, the producer price index fell .1% due to lower gasoline prices. Excluding energy and food, the so called core producer price index was up .1%. Now let’s take a look at some stocks. On Tuesday, the JOLTS job report for March showed job openings increased 2.7% to 5.8 million. Markets rallied strongly, on higher oil prices and a stronger dollar. The Dow Industrials closed up 222 points and the NASDAQ composite was up 59 points. On Wednesday, the EIA petroleum status report for the week ending May 6th showed crude oil inventories decreasing by 3.4 million barrels. This was the first decrease in six weeks and West Texas Intermediate crude futures increased by 3.5% to $46.23 a barrel, a six month high. Disappointing earnings from Disney and Macy’s sent markets spiraling down on fears of weak consumer spending, and the Dow Industrials closed off 217 points. On Thursday, jobless claims for the week ending May 7th were unexpected high, gaining 20,000 to 294,000. This was on top of the 17,000 rise the prior week. Markets were mixed, although fears of slowing sales for Apple pulled down the company’s stock price as well as the NASDAQ composite. On Friday retail sales for April jumped 1.3% month over month, greater than expected, and the producer price index for April rose .2%. Markets opened slightly lower on the news. Now let’s take a look at some stocks. Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced it has created a new video service, which is intended to become YouTube’s competitor. Users can upload their video and potentially make it prime content, or allow other users to buy and rent it. The new service is called Amazon Video Direct. Shares of Amazon reached all-time highs after the announcement. Macy’s (NYSE: M) reported its quarterly earnings and they were disappointing, with sales of the giant retailer falling more than 7% year over year and missing forecasts. Macy’s has also lowered sales and earnings guidance for the year. Shares of the company fell more than 15% the day after the report. Shares of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) were up 13% after the video game developer and publisher released earnings showing that its new Star Wars game and its popular sports video game franchises pushed revenue and profits up to surpass analysts’ expectations. Electronic Arts laid out guidance for next year, with expected revenue growth of 7%, reaching $4.9 billion. The popular fast food restaurant, Jack (NASDAQ: JACK) in the Box reported second quarter earnings of $0.85 per share, beating analysts’ expectations by $0.15. Revenue and same-store sales of Jack in the Box were basically flat, however, increasing revenue at its Qdoba restaurant chain helped profit margins. Shares jumped more than 15% on the news. Disney (NYSE: DIS) shares fell more than 4% after an earnings report that didn’t meet analyst’s expectations. The popular media and entertainment company reported a rise in earnings of 2% as the performance of its movie division and of its resorts helped offset its struggling television businesses. Net earnings were $1.36 per share, below analysts’ estimates of $1.40. © 2011 Financial Buzz. All rights reserved. On Monday, oil prices declined after Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) cut their 6-month forecast for WTI to $39 a barrel. Aluminum giant Alcoa kicked off earnings season on Monday topping projections with a $6.4 billion revenue. Tuesday was a big day for the labor market; we got the job openings and labor turnover survey report, which is one of the Federal Reserve’s favorite economic indicators. According to the report, US companies had 4.97 million job openings in November, a post-crisis high. Apple (NASDAQ: APPL) was a big contributor early on to the rally, after Credit Suisse (NYSE: CS) upgraded the company to outperform. But after a wild ride on Tuesday stocks gave up early gains and finished in the red. On Wednesday U.S. stocks declined for a fourth straight session as an overnight collapse in the price of copper pushed futures lower, with stocks never able to gain momentum back during the day. December Retail sales posted 0.9 percent loss and investors are worried about global economic growth. Earnings season for big US banks kicked off with reports out of Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) and JP Morgan Chase (NYSE: JPM). Wells Fargo was able to beat Wall Street forecasts with a slightly higher net income. But JPMorgan reported a 7 percent decline in fourth-quarter earnings, which sent the company’s stock down 3.5 percent for the day. JPMorgan Chase, the biggest bank in the U.S. by assets, has been hit pretty hard by legal costs over the past year. On Thursday stocks continued its downturn for a fifth day, with the S&P finishing below 2,000 for the first time in a month. Citigroup (NYSE: C) and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) were the latest US banks to report earnings, both companies posted disappointing earnings per share. There was some big news coming out of Switzerland: the Swiss National Bank announced that it would give up its minimum exchange rate, which surprised a lot of central banks and investors. Jobless claims jumped sharply to 316,000, the highest level since September; manufacturing in the New York region climbed to 9.95; PPI fell 0.3 percent, inflation at the producer level continued to decline on lower energy costs. On Friday Industrial production for December slipped 0.1 percent; Consumer price inflation fell 0.4 percent; and Goldman Sachs fell after the investment bank reported a 7 percent decline in profit. Stock Market Career - Earn 1 Crore in a Year Without Any Investment [HINDI]

10:30
Stock Market Career is very lucrative as it is considered to be one of the easiest ways to make money. Unfortunately, it is not correct. Here, Stock Market Career does not mean trading. To be very honest with you, trading cannot be a career. The best career in the stock market is to provide the paid services and especially running the mentee or trader programs. It can be called a business also because it takes advantage of the greed and fear of the investors and traders in the stock market. One of the critical success factors for any business is to provide products and service that take care of the greed and fear of the consumers. These type of businesses can command a premium. Similarly, if you are running a mentee or trader program then the investor is willing to pay a heavy premium. A trader or mentee program of 2 days can command fees of up to 50,000. A career to provide mentorship can help you earn more than a crore every year provided you are a known name in this field. It is more than or equivalent to the salary of a CEO of a mid-size company. Therefore, an indirect stock market career can help you generate more income than direct ones like trading, franchisee or broker. If you liked this video, You can "Subscribe" to my YouTube Channel.
