Foreign Direct Investment in INSURANCE SECTOR - TAMIL

03:53
100% FDI in insurance broking. The government is likely to approve 100 percent foreign direct investments (FDI) in insurance broking. Approval will, however, come with caveats such as having a certain percentage of Indian members on the board as well as curbing outsourcing of activities. Insurance intermediaries like brokers, corporate agents as well as insurance companies so far were allowed a maximum permissible limit of 49 percent FDI, while the remaining 51 percent was to be held by Indian entities. An insurance broker is an intermediary who acts as a middle man between the insurance company and the client to get them the most adequate cover at the best rate. In return, they earn commissions for the product sold. Sources said that the approval will be issued by the authorities in the next couple of months. In non-life insurance, the gross direct premium by brokers grew from around Rs 19,274 crore in FY15 to almost Rs 30,000 crore in FY18, according to reports. Insurance brokers are most active in the general insurance sector. About 65 percent of the corporate business including segments like group health, fire insurance, project insurance and marine insurance is sourced through these brokers. Meanwhile, the government has made it clear to stakeholders that the increase in FDI will be subject to certain terms and conditions, like core activities such as underwriting and claims management cannot be outsourced. Data collected from the Indian market will have to be stored in the country and global offshore centers of companies within India can also be used for the purpose. Minimum capital requirements could be raised, as currently, direct brokers have to maintain minimum capital of Rs 50 lakh while a composite broker has to maintain minimum capital of Rs 2.5 crore. Why a big NO to FDI in Insurance?

16:37
Prof. Surojit Mazumdar of Jawaharlal Nehru University while talking to Newsclick , is allowing Indian savings to be go to foreign companies. The record of foreign companies, particularly in insurance, is one of aggressive wooing of customers, not paying them under various pretexts and using this money for speculative purposes. This is their “efficiency”, which the public sector insurance companies cannot match. Without regulation, these companies play in the market as American Insurance Group (AIG) did and get bailed out if their speculations fail. As we know, 49% is more than enough to control companies and therefore this is method of handing over control of Indian peoples savings to foreign hands and financial liberalisation. This is dangerous for the Indian economy.

Firms To push For More FDI In Defence Sector

02:57
This video shows you that Firms To push For More FDI In Defence Sector. As the draft Defence Production Policy 2018 is set to be implemented with the ambitious vision of catapulting India into the world’s top five defence producers, the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) will chalk out strategies to ensure that the country gets more foreign direct investment in defence. Addressing reporters, president of SIDM Baba Kalyani and director-general of SIDM Lt Gen Subrata Saha said the new defence policy has fixed a target of Rs 35,000 crore of exports by 2025 while the current export is only Rs 1,995 crore. Interestingly, foreign direct investment is not happening despite the current regime allowing 100 per cent foreign direct investment in defence, the industry said. A session at Defexpo on “Changing Headwinds to Tailwinds: Enablers for Enhancing Foreign Direct Investment”, organised by SIDM will come out with recommendations in this regard.Kalyani said the new defence policy stipulates 13 areas where India must achieve self-reliance by 2025. These include manufacturing fighter aircraft, medium lift and utility helicopters, warships, land combat vehicles, autonomous weapon systems, missile systems, gun systems, small arms, ammunition and explosives, surveillance systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, communication systems, and night fighting enablers. Hailing Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s initiative of Defence Corridor for Tamil Nadu, Kalyani felt that the share of private sector will increase in the coming days. ====================================================================================================== DISCLAIMER: Each and every content used in this video is not imaginary. 100% FDI in Most Sectors Including Defence Sector

02:44
The NDA government on Monday announced, what it termed, a “radical liberalisation” of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) regime by easing norms for a host of important sectors including defence, civil aviation and pharmaceuticals, opening them up for complete foreign ownership. The decision’s timing assumes significance as it comes soon after Raghuram Rajan’s announcement last Saturday that he won't be seeking another term as the Reserve Bank of India Governor. The governor's decision days before the possible exit of Britain from the European Union, had triggered fears that India's growth narrative could unravel. However, the FDI reforms unveiled on Monday afternoon, blunted the early morning volatility in equity and currency markets by calming and reassuring investors about the continuing reform drive. The BSE Sensex recovered from a low of 26,447.88 in opening trade on Monday to an intra-day high of 26,885.49 points, before ending at 26,866.92 – up 241.01 points or 0.91 per cent. While the Opposition Congress termed the decisions as a “panic reaction” that would not happened had Mr Rajan not dropped the bombshell, Commerce and Industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman stressed the announcement had nothing to do with the RBI governor's decision.
