Abstract: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is probably the most challenging procedure in endoscopy. Here the author demonstrates the technique of positioning the side-viewing endoscope in the duodenum, and cannulating the common bile duct and the pancreatic duct in a patient referred for ERCP for abdominal colic. Excerpt: Genesis - Malachi summary | Dr. Abner Chou

07:41
Dr. Abner Chou, in his final lecture at the 2019 Rice Lecture Series, gives a 6 minute, book-by-book overview of how the OT books anticipate and lay the groundwork for Jesus the Messiah. He makes it clear that we need to see the full work of Jesus, as anticipated in the OT writings, not just as Savior but the "massive, cosmic, redemptive-historical impact the Lord Jesus Christ has." If we see the OT as only pointing to Jesus as Savior (as the Christocentric hermeneutic does), we fail to see important implications on "holiness, promises, covenants, one nation Israel, the nations of the world, creation, love, justice, exile, salvation, faith conquest. All of that is placed on the Messiah's shoulders ultimately." He concludes: "Why do we study the OT well? Because we want to know all that Jesus does and all of the ramifications he has. Not just some; all. Because that gives him his full glory." Dr. Chou currently serves as the John F. MacArthur Endowed Fellow at The Master’s University and Seminary. He is the author of "The Hermeneutics of the Biblical Writers" (Kregel, 2018) and "I Saw the Lord: A Biblical Theology of Vision" (Wipf and Stock, 2014) amongst other books, essays, and journal articles.

Rice Lecture Series 2019 - Session 1 | Repairing Christ in the OT | Dr. Abner Chou

55:19
In the first session, "Repairing Christ in the OT," Dr. Chou explains the importance of thinking through the Christocentric Hermeneutic. He states that it has an effect on how believers view topics such as the Trinity, Christology, Bibliology, obedience to God's commands, and our overarching grid to view Scripture. He concludes that there is a better way to interpret the OT than a Christocentric view, a way that he lays out in Session 2: "Recovering Christ in the OT: The Prophet as Exegete and Theologian." Dr.

Rice Lecture Series 2019 - Session 3 & Q&A | Reclaiming Christ in the OT | Dr. Abner Chou

01:15:49
In the final session, Dr. Chou gives examples of how OT prophecy is deliberate and exegetically discernable, that it is filled with rich theology. He then shows how the OT writers stated that the Messiah will participate in events that are connected to previously written prophecy. Next, he makes the case that OT writers prepare the reader for the coming Messiah, both on a micro and macro level. Dr. Chou concludes with a stirring 6-minute overview of the OT writer's preparation for the Messiah, going from Genesis to Malachi to prove that the OT details and theological framework anticipates the coming Messiah. He makes the case that we must honor Christ in the means and the end of reading and interpreting Scripture. Only then will we see him in his full glory as prophet, priest, and king! The video wraps up with a 25 minute Q&A session, beginning at the 50:24 minute mark. Dr.
Rice Lecture Series 2019 - Session 2 | Recovering Christ in the OT | Dr. Abner Chou

01:00:12
In the second session, "Recovering Christ in the OT," Dr. Chou introduces a better way to interpret passages than a Christocentric lens. That way includes viewing the prophets as intelligent theologians who knew the rest of available Scripture well and were supernaturally guided to use previously written Messianic passages faithfully and clearly. In sum, Dr. Chou states that "the OT has full meaning in it; we don't have to read things into it" [i.e. fit Jesus into every single nuance and story]. He urges believers to see the "anchor points" that tie Messianic prophecies together and let the biblical authors make the connections for us. Meaning and significance must be determined by what is in the text, not our own logical processes based on our external systems. Finally, he sets up the third session by teasing that there is a way to "Reclaim Christ in the OT." Dr.

Who Should Fund Medical Research?

07:03
The December 12, 2012 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association published an article by two Johns Hopkins Medical Center staff stating that there is a crisis because medical research is becoming too expensive, big pharma will need to cut back on funding this research, and they anticipate cuts in federal research funding this next year. While some novel suggestions such as passing bonds for research were made, the biggest problem we face is not that there isn't enough medical research, but that the vast majority of the research that is done is filled with conflicts of interest that make it impossible to trust as valid. Marcia Angell, MD and editor in chief ot the NEJM quit her job as did Ushma Neill, past editor in chief of the Journal of Clinical Investigation. In addition, Catherine DeAngeles, the present editor in chief of JAMA, has published considerable literature criticizing the poor quality of our medical journal articles. I suggest we put the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the postion of regulating medical research for our medical journals. This would include all research done by big pharma. However, NIH should be funded solely by Congress. Those organizations needing (and wanting) to do medical research would pay for the studies, but all money would go to the government, not the NIH...we must eliminate the financial conflicts of interest that now exist and lead to medical articles of very poor quality. These are the studies that your doctors rely on when you're sick and in the hospital! For more information please visit www.doctorsaputo.com

In 1996, when the DASH was developed by the Institute for Work & Health (IWH) and the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, no measure had previously existed to assess the disability and function of the arm, shoulder and hand as a whole.
