How to Get New Tab to Open Home Page in Firefox

02:50
In this video tutorial, you will learn how to get your “New Tab” to open your “Home Page” in Firefox. By default, when you open a new tab in Firefox, it opens up a blank page. Alternatively, you can set up the new tab to open tiles of your recently or frequently-used web pages. The process involves two steps: (1) to set up your Home page and (2) to change the new tab Firefox preference to open up the Home page. Check the tutorial and if you have any questions, leave them in the comments section. NOTE: Mozilla has changed the UI and removed the Firefox Preference that allows users to customize the New Tab. therefore, you can no longer use the method shown in this video tutorial. Instead, use this Firefox add-on called New Tab Override, to do so: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/ CREDITS: - Google and the Google logo are registered trademarks of Google Inc., used with permission. - Firefox Logo Used Under Creative Commons CC Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/firefox/branding/

Firefox 63 Review 2018

02:13
Mozilla released Firefox 63, on October 23, 2018, which is the latest and sixth rapid release browser update in 2018. There were a few performance improvements and visual changes in this new browser release. Firstly, Mozilla now uses CLANG to build Firefox on Windows. Clang is the first ever open-source C++ compiler and without getting too technical about it, it’s expected to bring performance improvements in Firefox. Mozilla added content blocking a collection of Firefox settings to give users more control over trackers and third-party tracking cookies. Users can also create exceptions for trusted sites that may not work properly with content blocking enabled. This will replace Tracking Protection as the native option which will still remain as part of the new content blocking functionality. Mozilla introduced Tracking Protection way back in Firefox 42 which was initially available only in Private Browsing Mode. It was later introduced as "always on" option. In Firefox 63, when you visit a website and if you click the information icon, in the address bar, you will see Content Blocking options which will take you to Privacy section of Firefox Preferences. On the Firefox Home Page, if you’ve enabled Top Sites, you will notice 2 search shortcuts for Google and Amazon. This is currently available only in the US. If you’re on Windows 10, the Firefox theme now matches the Dark and Light modes, in Windows 10 operating system by default. If you have multiple tabs and windows open, Firefox will now give you a warning message about having multiple windows and tabs open, when quitting from the main menu. And finally, for Firefox browser updates, the option to "Never Check for Updates" was removed from the Preferences section. These were some of the notable changes in Firefox 63. You can check the full list of detailed changes in the RELEASE NOTES (see link below). As always, I ran the Browsermark Benchmark test. From the results, the overall performance of Firefox 63 remained steady and was comparable to Google Chrome. - Firefox Quantum Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYT473axrM4 - Firefox Download Page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ - Firefox 63 Release Notes: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/63.0/releasenotes/ - Firefox Extended Support Release: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ - How to Use Firefox Screenshots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpdKx6Tw-xE CREDITS: Browser Benchmark Tests Performed Using Browsermark from Basemark: http://web.basemark.com/ | Firefox information and logos used under Creative Commons License Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0) | Microsoft, Windows, and the Windows logo are trademarks, or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries | Google and the Google logo are registered trademarks of Google Inc., used with permission | Images and graphics used are public domain via Pixabay unless otherwise mentioned | Other names may be trademarks of their respective owners. How to Work with Automatic Updates in Firefox

Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Mozilla Firefox has an inbuilt feature through which it provides you with updates for various things on your system. According to the set settings, these updates can be searched and installed automatically or you can be notified if the updates are available and you can install them if you wish. Updates on this browser can also be disabled for as long as you wish. Lastly, there is even an option for automatic updates in Firefox through which this browser finds these updates and installs them itself. To learn how to use the feature of Firefox automatic update, follow the tutorial below. Step 1 -- Open up the "Options" First of all, let's open up the Firefox menu and click on "Options". With that done, a new window will open up. Step 2 -- Open the "Update" tab Now move to the "Advanced" section and click on the "Update" tab. Over here, all the settings related to Firefox will be displayed. Step 3 -- Alter the settings As you can see that the current update settings is set to automatic, meaning that all updates are automatically installed in Firefox. You can change the settings and allow Firefox to only search for the updates. When it comes to installing them, Firefox will notify and ask you first before performing this action. Step 4 -- Disable updates Alternatively, you can disable the updates feature completely as well. Step 5 -- View update history If you click on the Show Update History button, a complete history will be shown to you regarding each and every update. If you want some additional information regarding a particular update, simply click on the Details option and all the details will be displayed to you in a new window. Step 6 -- Disable Firefox maintenance If you uncheck the option titled "Use a background service to install updates", this will disable the automatic updates in Firefox that run for Mozilla maintenance service in the background. Step 7 -- Disable updates in search engines In the "Automatically update" section below, you can uncheck the search engines option and now the Firefox automatic update option for them will be disabled not allowing them to be get automatically updated anymore.
