Managing Resources is the Key to Output
http://www.groupharmonics.com - Ed Muzio, author of "Make Work Great" and CEO of Group Harmonics, discusses the influence of resources on output, and presents a model for ensuring that a contributor has definition, availability, and control of the necessary resources. This video is based upon a framework first proposed by performance expert William Daniels. The key differentiating factor of this resource analysis model is that the individual contributor, not leadership or project management, must possess the three elements. When all three are in place, gains in performance are possible simply by virtue of the fact that the employee is no longer resource constrained.

Human resources key to development: education minister
Laos needs to strengthen human resource development through ongoing improvements to the education system with the top priorities being the upgrade of basic education and reduction of dropout rates. Although the dropout and failure rates have been decreasing annually, these issues still pose a challenge and need to be addressed urgently. So far this academic year, some 37,000 students have dropped out of school and more than 41,000 were unable to pass their exams. This was the main message of a keynote speech delivered yesterday by Minister of Education and Sports MsSengdeuaneLachanthaboun at the annual National Administrator Education meeting on improving education standards. “Making sure that children are able to stay in school and complete the full five grades of primary schooling remains a major challenge, especially in the rural areas of Laos,” she said. The objective of the meeting was to assess the progress made towards national priorities and the Millennium Development Goals in relation to education and identifying targets and priorities for the future. MsSengdeuane encoura ged administrators and other officials to share their ideas, experiences and lessons learnt in an effort to improve current enrolment rates, wipe out illiteracy, address teaching issues, and improve the education of rural children. Among the priorities is the expansion of basic pre-primary education for children aged 3 to 5, especially in rural areas, thereby giving them an early start in terms of their schooling and development. High levels of malnutrition in early childhood linked to rural poverty also represent a particular cause for concern in Laos, as hunger impairs brain development and diminishes children's ability to learn. However, considerable progress has been made. The ministry reported that national primary enrolment rates have increased to 98 percent, up from 80 percent in 2000. MsSengdeuane said education development must focus on improving teaching standards and the curriculum, training school administrators, building more schools, and using new teaching and learning techniques. “Improving the quality of education has long been considered one of the most effective means of helping poor countries to develop, as it leads to a better standard of living,” she noted. “Education officials need to work together to overcome education disparities and achieve equitable quality education for all.” While education standards have improved considerably over the past year, greater efforts are essential to break through the barriers that prevent so many children, especially girls, from entering and staying in school. Making sure that everyone benefits from a good education is critical to unleashing the human resource potential and to achieving Laos' goal of graduating from Least Developed Country status by 2020. Increased funding for education is also essential. Meeting participants were urged to show strong leadership in putting education at the heart of development and directing more of their resources towards primary education. The ministry is stimulating the development of education in keeping with the government's continuing strategic plan for 2025 and vision for 2030. By Times Reporters (Latest Update July 1, 2016)

Open Educational Resources - Free Homeschool Resources - Play Doh Educational Uses - KS1 Maths
Are you searching for new educational resources to use with your kids at home to support in their learning process? LearningMole is the right place for you if this support will fall into science, math, crafts or even cooking because Michelle helps with these four fields. This video falls in the math category and it makes the process of knowing the numbers and knowing how to count much more easier and more interesting for the kids, why? Because Michelle uses play-doh and Lego to give the kids the motivation they need. In this video Michelle is teaching Aaron to know how to count and she chose number "4" to let him do it. The duty on Aaron now is to use the play doh and the Lego part in order to count "4", this happens through using the Lego piece and stamping the play doh with it. This is one good and useful way for the kids because they should first know and identify the number you are holding for them and then let them show you how would they count - it showed to be a successful technique when used with Aaron. What makes the process of learning much easier are those educational resources which the parents choose to support their kids in the homeschooling part of their learning, which also comes after those resources and teaching techniques and ways used by the teachers in the schools. The kids at the very early age might be more attached to playing and that should let the teachers and parents pay attention to two important things: first of all, they should choose the toys and games which the kids will play with so that they could help with their thinking and let them exert some effort in doing so and second, they should try to use those games in the learning process when its time comes, which was exactly the same thing Michelle did in this lesson. Lego is known to be one of the good toys to choose for the kids because it gives them the chance to think while trying to build something and this is the reason why Michelle motivated her son Aaron to do this counting and stamping thing with using both the Lego part and the play doh. The play doh is also another useful playing method because kids could also make shapes and build things out of it so they could also get the chance to think for a little bit. Through our channel, you will find different lessons about math; there are those for addition, those for subtraction, multiplication, division and you will find lots of ways used in every single one of them; those with toys and those without toys. The links that you could check - of course according to the age of your kid - which are related to math include the mental math tricks and games for the KS2 kids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYvf790iHUc), there are also those math tricks which could be played through using puzzles (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A46EPLmca4), we also have the mental math addition games with using the different strategies that will give the mind the chance to think and solve the problems (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWE2AzEsgU4), there are the subtraction games for kids which are done through using play doh (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw91epryD28), Michelle also used the math tricks for counting and matching which she has also done with using play doh (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gig9xaA5Bzk). There are lots of videos on our channel here which are related to math and the magic tricks that could be done with the mind to help it solve the problems, you could check them all on the different playlists which we have on the channel. Homeschooling and the support that the parents tend to offer to their kids to help with their learning process is very important and in order to answer the "how to" questions which are always asked by the parents who do not know what kind of resources they are supposed to follow, we decided to bring this channel to life and give them the help they are in need for in the four different fields we have mentioned above: math, science, crafts and cooking. If you have any questions which you want to ask then please do and we would be very pleased to answer them all without any hesitation! Visit www.learningmole.com for more educational lessons and videos in Maths, English, Crafts and Cooking. LearningMole focuses on educating children of all ages. We offer advice and practical, interactive ideas to help parents challenge, homeschool, teach and develop their children’s skills at home. Help your child to explore the key concepts of number, counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in Maths. Spelling, reading, writing and grammar in English. Help them to develop their imagination and creativity with crafts and to explore a range of skills to cook, bake and create tasty treats and snacks. Easy to follow activities will support you and your child to learn and practice new concepts as well as enjoy spending time together. Help your child to progress and explore and most importantly - have fun!

Research shows TVOKids resources help kids to develop key literacy skills
New research from a joint TVO and OISE literacy pilot program, Literacy Fun for Families, showed that a test group of children who used TVOKids resources made "significantly greater gains" in key areas of early reading, writing and phonological awareness when compared to a control group that did not use the TVOKids materials. Dr. Janette Pelletier, Director of the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study at OISE collaborated with TVO to develop Literacy Fun for Families, a literacy-based curriculum for families using both TVOKids resources and curriculum from an ongoing literacy program run by Dr. Pelletier. The six-week literacy camp consisted of six sessions where parents learned about early literacy development while their children participated in literacy-related activities and played TVOKids online educational games. The sessions covered essential components of family literacy: Oral Language; Reading; Words, Letters and Sounds; Environmental Print; Writing and Mathematics.
