In this video from ITFreeTraining I will look at Integration Services for Hyper-V. Integration Services is a suite of software that, when installed in a virtual machine, improves the performance and adds features to the virtual machine. Access the rest of the course http://ITFreeTraining.com/hyperv Download the PDF handout http://www.itfreetraining.com/handouts/hyperv/integration-services.pdf What is Integration Services 0:04 Integration services is software provided to give the user the best possible experience while using Hyper-V. Integration services is a suite of drivers and utilities, similar to VMWare Tools in VMWare or XenServer tools in Citrix XenServer. It replaces generic operating system drivers such as those for mouse and video with Hyper-V specific drivers to better manage the machine. Integration services also synchronizes the time between the host and virtual machine, allows file interoperability and adds a heartbeat for monitoring. Without integration services, the virtual machine uses emulation to access the host servers resources. With the services installed, it accesses the hardware directly and improves performance. Features of Integration Services Allows unrestricted mouse movements, so that you don’t need a keyboard shortcut to release the mouse from the virtual machine. Improves video performance and features, such as additional screen resolutions. Heartbeat service so that the host can monitor the virtual machine Data exchange ability – allows the client to pass information such as build and version to the host. Time synchronization between the guest and host. Improved snapshot performance. Remote desktop virtualization – allows management of the virtual machine from a remote desktop. Operating Systems Supported 4:42 Windows server: Windows Server 2003 with SP2 and above Windows client: Windows XP SP3 or Windows XP x64 with SP2 and above Linux: CentOS 5.7,5.8, 6.0 to 6.3/Red Hat Enterprise 5.7,5.8,6.0 to 6.3/Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2/Open SUSE 12.1/Ubuntu 12.04 See http://YouTube.com/ITFreeTraining or http://itfreetraining.com for our always free training videos. Installing Integration Services

16:10
Integration Services is additional software that can be installed on a Hyper-V virtual machine which adds additional features. This video will look at how to install Integration Services on Windows and Ubuntu. Integration Services is the functional equivalent of VMWare Tools from VMWare. Download the PDF handout http://ITFreeTraining.com/handouts/lab/integration-services.pdf What Is Integration Services Integration Services adds software to the virtual machine including device drivers. The device drivers it adds allows the virtual machine to communicate with the host. In some cases the device driver may be missing from the virtual machine and this will install those device drivers. Most noticeably, the network adapter will often not work until Integration Services is installed. The additional software that is added also adds additional functionality. For example, without Integration Services installed, the mouse pointer will often be sluggish in the virtual machine and Ctrl-Atl-Left arrow will need to be pressed to release the mouse pointer from the virtual machine. Other features include heartbeat service, data exchange, time synchronization and improved snapshot performance. Heartbeat service allows the host to send a heartbeat message to the virtual machine. If the virtual machine does not response to this heartbeat message the host knows the virtual machine has crashed. Data exchange allows the host to obtain information from the virtual machine, such as which operating system is running. Time synchronization syncs the time in the virtual machine to the same time on the local time clock on the host computer. If you are using time synchronization software on the virtual machine you should disable this. Improved snapshot performance will reduce the sluggishness of the virtual machine when a snap shot is performed. Although taking a snap shot will reduce the performance of the virtual machine, without this feature the virtual machine will stall when a snapshot is taken. Remote Desktop virtualization allows Windows Server 2012 to perform administration on the virtual machine using server manager, assuming the virtual machine supports it. Operating System Supported Windows Server 2003 with SP2 and above Windows XP SP3 or Windows XP x64 with SP2 and above Linux, the following are supported: CentOS 5.7,5.8, 6.0 to 6.3/Red Hat Enterprise 5.7,5.8,6.0 to 6.3/Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2/Open SUSE 12.1/Ubuntu 12.04 Description to long for YouTube. Data Integration and Data Exchange

53:30
Google TechTalks March 24, 2006 Alan Nash ABSTRACT I will discuss two fundamental problems in information integration: (1) how to answer a query over a public interface which combines data from several sources and (2) how to create a single database conforming to the public interface which combines data from several sources. I consider the case where the sources are relational databases, where the public interface is a public schema (a specification of the format of a database), and where the sources are related to the public schema by a mapping that is specified by constraints.

What is an API?

03:25
What exactly is an API? Finally learn for yourself in this helpful video from MuleSoft, the API experts. https://www.mulesoft.com/platform/api The textbook definition goes something like this: “An application programming interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. An API expresses a software component in terms of its operations, inputs, outputs, and underlying types. An API defines functionalities that are independent of their respective implementations, which allows definitions and implementations to vary without compromising each other. A good API makes it easier to develop a program by providing all the building blocks. APIs often come in the form of a library that includes specifications for routines, data structures, object classes, and variables. In other cases, notably SOAP and REST services, an API is simply a specification of remote calls exposed to the API consumers. An API specification can take many forms, including an International Standard, such as POSIX, vendor documentation, such as the Microsoft Windows API, or the libraries of a programming language, e.g., the Standard Template Library in C++ or the Java APIs. An API differs from an application binary interface (ABI) in that an API is source code-based while an ABI is a binary interface. For instance POSIX is an API, while the Linux Standard Base provides an ABI”. To speak plainly, an API is the messenger that runs and delivers your request to the provider you’re requesting it from, and then delivers the response back to you. To give you a familiar example, think of an API as a waiter in a restaurant. Imagine you’re sitting at the table with a menu of choices to order from, and the kitchen is the provider who will fulfill your order. What’s missing is the critical link to communicate your order to the kitchen and deliver your food back to your table. That’s where the waiter (or API) comes in. ”AHEM” The waiter takes your order, delivers it to the kitchen, and then delivers the food (or response) back to you. (Hopefully without letting your order crash if designed correctly) Now that we’ve whetted your appetite, let’s apply this to a real API example. In keeping with our theme, let’s book a flight to a culinary capital – Paris. You’re probably familiar with the process of searching for airline flights online. Just like at a restaurant, you have a menu of options to choose from ( a dropdown menu in this case). You choose a departure city and date, a return city and date, cabin class, and other variables (like meal or seating, baggage or pet requests) In order to book your flight, you interact with the airline’s website to access the airline’s database to see if any seats are available on those dates, and what the cost might be based on certain variables. But, what if you are not using the airline’s website, which has direct access to the information? What if you are using online travel service that aggregates information from many different airlines? Just like a human interacts with the airline’s website to get that information, an application interacts with the airline’s API. The API is the interface that, like your helpful waiter, runs and and delivers the data from that online travel service to the airline’s systems over the Internet. It also then takes the airline’s response to your request and delivers right back to the online travel service . And through each step of the process it facilitates that interaction between the travel service and the airline’s systems - from seat selection to payment and booking. So now you can see that it’s APIs that make it possible for us all to use travel sites. They interface with with airlines’ APIs to gather information in order to present options back to us The same goes for all interactions between applications, data and devices - they all have API’s that allow computers to operate them, and that's what ultimately creates connectivity. API’s provide a standard way of accessing any application, data or device whether it is shopping from your phone, or accessing cloud applications at work. So, whenever you think of an API, just think of it as your waiter running back and forth between applications, databases and devices to deliver data and create the connectivity that puts the world at our fingertips. And whenever you think of creating an API, think MuleSoft.

Sharing Data between Components in Angular

05:19
Fully documented lesson at https://angularfirebase.com/lessons/sharing-data-between-angular-components-four-methods/ In this episode, I am going to show you four different ways to share data between Angular components. Parent to Child the Input Decorator When you declare a variable with the Input decorator in the child component, it allows that variable to be received from a parent template. In this case, we define a message variable in the parent, then use square brackets to pass the data to the child. Now the child can display this data in its own template. Child to Parent via ViewChild ViewChild allows a one component to be injected into another, giving the parent access to its attributes and functions. One caveat, however, is that child won't be available until after the view has been initialized. This means we need to implement the AfterViewInit lifecycle hook to receive the data from the child. In the AfterViewInit function we can access the message variable defined in the child Child to Parent via Output and EventEmitter Another way to share data is to emit data from the child, which can be listed to by the parent. This approach is ideal when you want to share data changes that occur on things like button clicks, form entires, and other user events. In the child, we declare a messageEvent variable with the Output decorator and set it equal to a new event emitter. Then we create a function named sendMessage that calls emit on this event with the message we want to send. Lastly, we create a button to trigger this function. In the parent, we create a function to receive the message and set it equal to the message variable. The parent can now subscribe to this messageEvent that's outputted by the child component, then run the receive message function whenever this event occurs. Share data between any components When passing data between components that lack a direct connection, such as siblings, grandchildren, etc, you should you a shared service. When you have data that should aways been in sync, I find the RxJS `BehaviorSubject` very useful in this situation. The main benefit that a BehaviorSubject ensures that every component consuming the service receives the most recent data. In the service, we create a private BehaviorSubject that will hold the current value of the message. We define a currentMessage variable handle this data stream as an observable that will be used by the components. Lastly, we create function that calls next on the BehaviorSubject to change its value. The parent, child, and sibling components all receive the same treatment. We inject the DataService in the constructor, then subscribe to the currentMessage observable and set its value equal to the message variable. Now if we create a function in any one of these components that changes the value of the message. when this function is executed the new data it's automatically broadcast to all other components. That's it for data sharing. See you next time.

Coding With Python :: Learn API Basics to Grab Data with Python

19:23
Coding With Python :: Learn API Basics to Grab Data with Python This is a basic introduction to using APIs. APIs are the "glue" that keep a lot of web applications running and thriving. Without APIs much of the internet services you love might not even exist! APIs are easy way to connect with other websites & web services to use their data to make your site or application even better. This simple tutorial gives you the basics of how you can access this data and use it. If you want to know if a website has an api, just search "Facebook API" or "Twitter API" or "Foursquare API" on google. Some APIs are easy to use (like Locu's API which we use in this video) some are more complicated (Facebook's API is more complicated than Locu's). More about APIs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Api Code from the video: http://pastebin.com/tFeFvbXp If you want to learn more about using APIs with Django, learn at http://CodingForEntrepreneurs.com for just $25/month. We apply what we learn here into a Django web application in the GeoLocator project. The Try Django Tutorial Series is designed to help you get used to using Django in building a basic landing page (also known as splash page or MVP landing page) so you can collect data from potential users. Collecting this data will prove as verification (or validation) that your project is worth building. Furthermore, we also show you how to implement a Paypal Button so you can also accept payments. Django is awesome and very simple to get started. Step-by-step tutorials are to help you understand the workflow, get you started doing something real, then it is our goal to have you asking questions... "Why did I do X?" or "How would I do Y?" These are questions you wouldn't know to ask otherwise. Questions, after all, lead to answers. Introducing the Humanitarian Data Exchange

01:33
We are excited to launch a new humanitarian data platform -- the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX). Scaling Traditional Integration in an Event-Driven Architecture - Karun Japhet | TW Tech Talks

01:07:17
Our journey begins with a large enterprise wanting to move from an old school SOA based system to a modern event sourced, event driven, CQRS based domain driven designed platform. This platform needs to exchange data with multiple third-parties for day to day business. The need of the hour is to have a service architecture that provides guaranteed communication with non-reliable third parties without sacrificing the niceties of event sourced DDD platforms. Here in comes our protagonist, the service gateway. Join us through the journey of discovering how a resilient platform can be built with eventual consistency guarantees when third parties provide NO guarantees of reasonable service. At the end of this talk you will walk away with ideas on how you can make your platform available and always ready to serve customers even if your third parties and/or parts of your infrastructure are not available. At scale. All the time. Karun is a tech lead, developer, and quality advocate at ThoughtWorks. Over the past eight years, he has worked on realizing value for his clients through the creation of highly scaleable applications and integration of large enterprise applications –– https://www.meetup.com/ThoughtWorks-Tech-Talks-NYC/ http://www.thoughtworks.com/
