View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/the-paradox-of-value-akshita-agarwal Imagine you’re on a game show and you can choose between two prizes: a diamond … or a bottle of water. It’s an easy choice – the diamonds are more valuable. But if given the same choice when you were dehydrated in the desert, after wandering for days, would you choose differently? Why? Aren’t diamonds still more valuable? Akshita Agarwal explains the paradox of value. Lesson by Akshita Agarwal, animation by Qa'ed Mai.

Man Left Wife To Raise 6 Children Alone ,Months Later,Discovers Incredible Surprise In Family Car

Man Leaves Wife To Raise 6 Children Alone – 3 Months Later, She Discovers Incredible Surprise In Family Car. Life’s not always sunshine and roses. In fact, a lot of the time it can be tough and unfair. You might not have experienced difficult patches yet, but you can be certain they’ll come around sooner or later. No one goes through their entire life without battling through a crisis. During these difficult times, support and love are vital. They’re the only things that can strengthen and comfort us in the darkest of times. Whether they come from your family, friends, pets or even complete strangers: Small acts of kindness always make a big difference. To be left by your husband to raise 6 children alone is, fortunately, quite rare. That said, there’s probably a lot of us who have been left let down by someone we loved. Perhaps that’s why this fictional story struck such a chord in my heart, because I could really relate to it. It’s the message that’s most important; the moral of the story something we can all learn from. Please, help us spread the word further by sharing. Mom on her own September 1960. I woke up one morning with six hungry children and only $1 in my pocket. My husband – and the father of my children – had left me without a trace. My boys were between three-months and seven-years-old – their sister was four. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing. The children’s dad had never been a good father – everyone felt fear when he was around. The children used to hide under their beds when they heard his car pull into the driveway. That said, he did bring money in every week so we had enough to buy food. Now that he’d decided to leave, the anger and the aggression would surely disappear. Unfortunately, so would the food. There may have been a welfare system in the country at that time. If there was, though, I wasn’t aware of it. I certainly couldn’t have asked for money. So, I cleaned the children so they looked nice, then I donned my finest dress. I put the children into our rusty old 1951 Chevrolet and drove off in search of a job. I visited every factory, shop and restaurant in our small town. I was met with no success. Wherever possible, the children waited in the car and remained silent while I tried to convince managers that I would be willing to learn anything, do anything. They only had to give me a chance. After everything, however, there were no vacancies. The last place we tried lay a few miles outside of town. It was an old restaurant that had been converted into a long-distance cafe. It was called “Big Wheel”. An old woman – everyone knew her as “Grandmother” – owned the place. She peered suspiciously out of the window as we arrived. It transpired she needed someone to cover the night shift from 11pm to 7am. She paid about $5.40 an hour and was willing to let me start straight away. I literally ran home and immediately called the teenager who lived on our street. She had babysat for us before, and I agreed with her that she could sleep on my couch for $18 a night, so long as she made sure the children went to bed. She thought it all sounded OK, so that particular issue ceased to be a problem. That night, when the children were getting ready to go to bed, I thanked the powers that be for giving me a way to make our living. Then I started working at the “Big Wheel”. When I got home the next morning, I woke up the babysitter and sent her home with her salary. It turned out to be around half of what I had earned. As the weeks rolled by, heating costs went up in the house. We lived on the edge of our means, and, in addition, the tires on our old Chevvy were extremely old. I had to fill the tires with air on my way to work, and then again when I was coming home. Strange gift One particularly bleak autumn morning, I went to my car to leave work for home. I found four new tires on the backseat. Brand new! There was no message or note. There was nothing in the car. Nothing, aside from four nice, new tires. “Are there really angels in our city?” I wondered to myself. I thus made an appointment with the local gas station. In exchange for mounting the new tires, I would clean the manager’s office. I remember it took me a lot longer to scrub the floor that it did for the company to change the tires. During this period, I was working six nights a week instead of five, but finances were still an issue. Christmas was fast approaching, and I knew there would be no money for gifts for the kids. I did find a can of red paint, and began to repair and respray old toys that I intended to rehash as new presents. I hid the toys in the basement, so that Santa could ‘deliver them’ on Christmas Day. History of Money & How Money is Made: The Money Story 2000 US Treasury Bureau of the Mint

33:25
more at http://money.quickfound.net "The Money Story. The educational videotape is divided into two parts the history of money and the production of money. It chronicles the progression from the early barter system, to the first coins, and then to the paper currency used today." Public domain film from the US National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a particular country or socio-economic context. The main functions of money are distinguished as: a medium of exchange; a unit of account; a store of value; and, perhaps, a standard of deferred payment. Any item or verifiable record that fulfills these functions can be considered money. Money is historically an emergent market phenomenon establishing a commodity money, but nearly all contemporary money systems are based on fiat money. Fiat money, like any check or note of debt, is without intrinsic use value as a physical commodity. It derives its value by being declared by a government to be legal tender; that is, it must be accepted as a form of payment within the boundaries of the country, for "all debts, public and private".[citation needed] Such laws in practice cause fiat money to acquire the value of any of the goods and services that it may be traded for within the nation that issues it. The money supply of a country consists of currency (banknotes and coins) and usually includes bank money (the balance held in checking accounts and savings accounts). Bank money, which consists only of records (mostly computerized in modern banking), forms by far the largest part of broad money in developed countries... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mint_(coin) A mint is an industrial facility which manufactures coins for currency. The history of mints correlates closely with the history of coins. In the beginning, hammered coinage or cast coinage were the chief means of coin minting, with resulting production runs numbering as little as the hundreds or thousands. In modern mints, coin dies are manufactured in large numbers and planchets are made into milled coins by the billions. With the mass production of currency, the production cost is weighed when minting coins. For example, it costs the United States Mint much less than 25 cents to make a quarter, and the difference in production cost and face value (called seigniorage) helps fund the minting body... The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is a government agency within the United States Department of the Treasury that designs and produces a variety of security products for the United States government, most notable of which is Federal Reserve Notes (paper money) for the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve itself is the central bank of the United States of America. In addition to paper currency, the B.E.P. produces Treasury securities; military commissions and award certificates; invitations and admission cards; and many different types of identification cards, forms, and other special security documents for a variety of government agencies. The B.E.P. does not produce coins; all coinage is produced by the United States Mint. With production facilities in Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, Texas, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is the largest producer of government security documents in the United States... ...in 1957, the Bureau began printing currency via the dry intaglio method that utilizes special paper and non-offset inks, enabling a further increase from 18 to 32 notes per sheet. Since 1968, all currency has been printed by means of the dry intaglio process, whereby wetting of the paper prior to printing is unnecessary. In this process, fine-line engravings are transferred to steel plates from which an impression is made on sheets of distinctive paper. Ink is applied to a plate containing 32 note impressions, which is then wiped clean, leaving ink in the engraved lines. The plate is pressed against the sheet of paper with such pressure as to actually press the paper into the lines of the plate to pick up the ink. Both faces and backs are printed in this manner – backs first. After the faces are printed, the sheets are then typographically overprinted with Treasury Seals and serial numbers. During the Fiscal Year 2013, the Bureau delivered 6.6 billion notes at an average cost of 10 cents per note...

"Pay off Debt - Your Birth Certificate is Worth Millions" - Busting Myths

11:33
We're busting myths and today, and discussing an unusual way people are trying to pay their bills and other debts - using popular conspiracy theories to access "secret" Treasury Direct Accounts. STRAWMAN/REDEMPTION CONSPIRACY ▶︎Brief history / Asserts the federal government granted a birth certificate (name in all caps - the "straw man" - also on social security, taxes, etc) and that the US government has "secret" trust accounts linked to each citizen. (Been used to avoid taxes; taxpayer claims they're not responsible for tax obligation of "straw man") BIRTH CERTIFICATE ▶︎Asserts the birth certificate "bond" created when you were born that prepays all of your debts. (US government declared bankruptcy in 1933 when the country went off the gold standard. Claims that the bankrupt country, in an effort to prevent foreclosure, pledged all Americans to “International Bankers” as collateral for the national debt. As a result, we are all slaves, and our birth certificates are traded on the markets as bonds worth millions.) ▶︎The IRS has categorized "redemption", "strawman", and "Bond Fraud" under Scams and Safety. UCC CODES ▶︎Acceptance for Value ▶︎Sight Drafts / Bills of Exchange / Promissory Bonds ▶︎"Drawing such drafts on the U.S. Treasury is fraudulent and violation of federal law." - Treasury Dept. ▶︎"It is a violation to Federal Law to misuse the Treasury seal or the words, titles, symbols, or emblems of the Treasury Department, or any service, bureau, office or Treasury subdivision; see 31 U.S.C. 333." SOCIAL SECURITY ▶︎Claims you can access your "secret trust" aka your "TDA" or Treasury Direct Account using your social security number and Federal Reserve routing number. ▶︎"Individuals do not have accounts at the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve provides banking services only for banks. Individuals do not have accounts at the Federal Reserve." - Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta ▶︎"Law enforcement, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is aware of this scheme, and the Federal Reserve Banks, including the New York Fed, have been cooperating with law enforcement in their investigations. Individuals who participate in such schemes could face criminal charges." - Federal Reserve Bank of New York POSSIBLE OUTCOMES: ▶︎Those who have already tried these fraudulent forms of paying debt have already learned that it does not work. Federal Reserve Banks do not hold individual accounts, so your "payment" will be reversed or rejected and when it is, you will not only still owe the debt, but likely have incurred additional fees and may even have been sued, making yourself a candidate for wage garnishment or levy. ▶︎You will see claims that it worked in comment threads and such, but no real, long-term proof has ever been shown, to my knowledge. ▶︎In addition, you may find yourself slapped with hefty fees, fines and penalties, under FBI investigation, arrested and/or charged with a crime. ***RESOURCES*** FBI - https://www.fbi.gov/scams-and-safety/common-fraud-schemes/redemption-strawman-bond-fraud FTC - https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2017/08/no-secret-bank-accounts-pay-your-bills US Dept. of the Treasury - https://www.treasury.gov/about/organizational-structure/ig/Pages/Scams/Bogus-Sight-Drafts.aspx US Dept. of the Treasury - https://www.treasury.gov/about/organizational-structure/ig/Pages/fraud-alerts_index2.aspx Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta - https://www.frbatlanta.org/news/pressreleases/atlantafed/2017/0712-consumer-scam-alert-fr-routing-numbers Federal Reserve Bank of New York - https://www.newyorkfed.org/banking/frscams.html IRS (See #8) - https://www.irs.gov/privacy-disclosure/the-truth-about-frivolous-tax-arguments-section-i-d-to-e#anch_83 IRS (See Rev. Tony Robbins: THE MONEY MINDSET (PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT)

48:01
Tony Robbins The MONEY MINDSET: Conditioning Yourself for Wealth (PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT) #1 Creating Wealth. Decide on a specific number that you must have. Notice the keyword – “must have”, not should have, not would like to have but must have. This is not an easy exercise but it is all about setting up temperature on your thermostat. Look at your own life and see that we only do things that we must not should. Must, should, would like to or wish are all standards. The difference between people who have and do not have is just standard, so pick your specific number. #2 Creating Wealth. Condition your mind daily A powerful incantation that Tony Robbins teaches is: “God’s wealth is circulating in my life. Wealth flows to me in avalanches of abundance. All my needs, desires and goals are met instantaneously. For I am one with God and God is everything.” #3 Creating Wealth. Get role models The fastest way to get what you want is to find someone who has already done it and then ask many questions, watch and model them. Also if you are not sure about what you are good at, ask yourself these questions: – what do I love? – how can other people benefit? – how can I do it massively – leverage – how can I do it intelligently so there is some profit left Wealth = Value x leverage. So start first with value and once you discover it, learn to leverage it to as many people as possible. #4 Creating Wealth. Experience yourself as a giver, otherwise wealth will not stay around. Find someone who is less fortunate than you are and give (time, money, skills, etc) You will teach your subconscious mind that there is more than enough and that you are a giver not a taker. Last night I had a great conversation with my younger brother who is just 13. He has been saving money to buy himself a mobile phone for the last 6 months, and when I asked him if he was willing to do something uncomfortable and take 10% of his savings and give it as a gift to someone who is less fortunate that we both know. He said yes, “I will do it”. I asked him why he decided to do it and his answer was “because I can”. I had tears in my eyes, I was touched. He has experienced real wealth at the age of 13. #5 Creating Wealth. Create positive experiences with money And after all that, remember to use part of the money to have fun and play. Teach your nervous system that it is great to have money, give it a good meaning. Go fishing, take your family/friends for dinner, go sky diving whatever you love. Create the play jar and teach yourself that you deserve. *CREDIT Tony Robbins Visit Tony Robbins' websites: https://www.tonyrobbins.com/ http://www.unshakeable.com/ Follow Tony Robbins @: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TonyRobbins Twitter: https://twitter.com/tonyrobbins LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ajrobbins Google+: https://plus.google.com/+TonyRobbins Instagram: https://instagram.com/tonyrobbins/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TonyRobbinsLive FAIR-USE COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER * Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, commenting, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. What Are Bitcoins? How Do Bitcoins Work? virtual currency global financial market trading stock

02:04
By now, you have most likely heard of Bitcoin, the "first decentralized digital currency," in the world. Created in 2009, the peer-to-peer currency used for instant electron payment. It is ideal for conducting international transactions because it is not subject to exchange rates or transactions fees, as it can be bought and sold on an exchange in return for the local currency. Though not the only crypto-currency, it certainly is the one that has drawn the most attention, and for good reason. In February 2013, one bitcoin would have cost you $20, as of this writing one bitcoin goes for about $900. Talk about a pretty good return on investment. So how does it work? 1. Who issues bitcoins? Via: Forbes Bitcoin has no central monetary authority. The creators have fixed the supply of bitcoins to around 21 million, and no new bitcoins can be added into the supply. Therefore, theoretically, a bitcoin can't be devalued. The system is based on a deflationary economic model. As time progresses, the available supply of bitcoins will decrease, eventually reaching its limit near 2140. As a result, the value of each bitcoin will rise in the long run, or so the argument goes. 2. How are they distributed? Computers operating within a peer-to-peer computer network mathematically generate the currency. Known as Bitcoin "mining," the network approves a user's updates around every 10 minutes, and a fixed number of bitcoins is provided to the user. The system was developed so that as time progresses, it becomes more challenging to mine the bitcoins. As a result, people must continue to build powerful and massive computers to aquire the currency. 3. Who buys bitcoins and how can they be purchased or sold? Bitcoins can be purchased (and sold) by anyone who holds traditional currency. Remember, Bitcoin is a digital currency. Though some physical bitcoins exist, each is linked with a distinct identification tag backed by real digital bitcoins embedded inside. In order for the owner to access the funds, the coin's hologram must be stripped away to reveal a redeemable "private key." The owners of the physical coins and those online can conduct transactions at several worldwide exchanges, or directly between peers through software. Since Bitcoin can be bought and sold directly through the exchanges in return for a country's local currency, it is ideal for conducting international transactions without having to use exchange rates or pay bank fees. While it reduces costs, the ease of the transactions, combined with the complexity of the Bitcoin system, has made Bitcoin attractive to individuals conducting illicit activities. Last month, a PolicyMic article detailed the prevalence of Bitcoin transactions on the (now closed) Silk Road market place. 4. Who accepts bitcoins as a means of exchange? Via: Virgin Galactic Over the past year, there has been a substantial increase in the number of merchants accepting Bitcoin as a valid method of payment. In fact, you can even buy a trip to space with Bitcoin. Around the U.S. many small and local businesses are beginning to accept the currency. Additionally, companies such as BitPay enable businesses to accept bitcoins as payment and then receive final payments in local currency. The service acts an intermediary, confirming the Bitcoin payment and paying the merchant in the local currency. A similar service, Coinbase, just raised $25 million in a Series B round led by the venture capital firm of Marc Andreeseen, the co-founder of Netscape. The company provides services not only for merchants, but also for consumers. It has digital wallets, allowing users to purchase and sell bitcoins in addition to spending them. The company has over 600,000 users and has signed up over 16,000 merchants who will accept bitcoins through Coinbase. Yet small businesses aren't the only ones who accept the currency as payment. Crowdfunding For Commercial Playgrounds

03:09
Crowdfunding for Playground Projects It is not an inexpensive venture to build and design a commercial playground. There are several steps involved in the design and execution of a project, all of which require financial support. Therefore, many planners rely on a crowdfunding source to assist with the fundraising effort. In our digital age, crowdfunding allows for money to be raised by a collection of small contributions over the Internet. Many sites, such as Kickstarter and GoFundMe are dedicated to hosting crowdfunding campaigns. The process itself can be a successful one if you are aware of the best possible professional tips: #1 Plan and Preparation: It is essential that you have a clear strategy with defined goals before beginning your crowdfunding campaign. In this early phase of the operation, research and network building is key. It is at this time that you will determine who you can rely on, to help you fund this playground project. You will also work closely with experts to lay out specific outcomes and goals for the intended project. Funders want to know the value of their efforts. #2 Get to know Your Audience: The funders who will support your playground project must be researched and encouraged. It is important to know what your funders will value. Focusing on these specific ideals will also help you to recruit even more funders. Once you have distinguished your project, certain events can be planned to recruit more funders, and build engagement with potential supporters. #3 Build Dreams: Successful crowdfunding campaigns focus on the realization of compelling visions. Funders are invested in helping dreams come true. Therefore, it is important to have a clear vision that can resonate with many people so that they can clearly understand why that this playground project will make a difference in lives. Stories can contribute to framing a overall narrative, which can encourage funders to see the human side of any project. #4 Use the Best Crowdfunding Platforms: In addition to the research about the potential funders, there is also necessary research for the best website to use as the crowdfunding platforms. Some websites are more focused on charitable donations and attract a different type of funder. We have made this easier for you by including links to our recommendations below. #5 Promote and Perform: Once the site is chosen and the goals are established, you can promote and execute the crowdfunding campaign. Some campaigns are donation-based and the donors will receive a gift or reward in exchange for their generosity. Another form of giving is investment funding, which allows donors to become equity partners. Either way, promote the perks of becoming a funder for the project and encourage fundraising gains. The following 10 websites are our recommendation for crowdfunding playground projects. https://www.facebook.com/fundraisers/ https://www.gofundme.com https://fundly.com/ https://www.supportful.com https://doublethedonation.com https://www.bonfire.com/ https://www.ed.co/linkcampaign/ https://www.mightycause.com/ https://www.crowdrise.com/ https://www.kickstarter.com/ Attributions: By Bizking2u - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=34635086 Site: https://www.creativesystems.com/ Facebook: http://bit.ly/2Ldt18x Twitter: http://bit.ly/2A4UhC7 LinkedIn: http://bit.ly/2UEG8ny Google +: http://bit.ly/2Pzvxqu Instagram: http://bit.ly/2SDeN3e

Emraan Hashmi: Emraan ने खोले Cheat के सबसे बड़े राज | Dilli Tak |Why Cheat India

12:23
Emraan Hashmi: Emraan ने खोले Cheat के सबसे बड़े राज |Why Cheat India So You Think You Can Cheat ft. Emraan Hashmi & Shreya Dhanwanthary | Why Cheat India Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming feature Cheat India is now Why Cheat India after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly raised objections to its title but the actor is clearly not amused. The film features Hashmi as a con-man who ropes in toppers to write entrance exam papers of others in exchange for money. The film is a commentary on the state of education in India. The censor board had objected to the title saying that it is misleading. The producers, after discussions with the board, bowed down to its demand and changed the title to Why Cheat India. Hashmi, who has turned producer with the project, said ‘why’ was a senseless addition to the title. He has also changed his name on “It (title) has been in the public domain for the past one year. We had the censor clear every promo of ours and suddenly now, ten days before the release, they put a ‘why’ in the title. It doesn’t make sense and we couldn’t fight it because we are days away from the release,” Hashmi told PTI. He said the original title, Cheat India, does have a negative connotation but contends that it should be viewed in the context of the film. “Unfortunately, it is how the system is. The film is showing mirror to the system. There is nothing objectionable in it. We are just showing people what lies in the system. Official Channel. Will EOS Be the End of Ethereum?!?! 10 Facts About EOS

15:37
What is EOS? EOS is blockchain based software & a platform created to support decentralized apps (aka dapps) that runs on delegated proof-of-stake consensus algorithm & was created by Dan Larimer. When observed through this over-simplified definition, EOS may bear a resemblance to Ethereum. But there are a few key differences. Whereas Ethereum can be somewhat viewed as a global computer, EOS.io is more similar to a global operating system. EOS provides databases, accounts, authentication, asynchronous communication, and the scheduling of applications across numerous CPU cores or clusters. Through its ownership model, EOS effectively eliminates transaction fees while boasting a potential throughput of millions of transactions per second. The technological basis for its creation comes from past proven ventures such as blockchain social platform Steemit and BitShares, a decentralized asset exchange. EOS co-founder, Daniel Larimer designed the graphene blockchain technology that powers both Steemit and BitShares. He also created the Delegated Proof of Stake algorithm that lies at the heart of EOS. The backbone of EOS’ nimble construct is its Delegated Proof-of-Stake (or DPos) consensus algorithm, which is tailor-fitted to meet the performance challenges required by dapps on the blockchain. 21 nodes (also known as witnesses) are elected through voting preference by token holders, and they're the only ones that can produce blocks. The EOS software enables these witnesses to create blocks every half second. Blocks are generated in rounds of 126 (or 6 blocks times 21 producers). Forks are unlikely to take place with DPoS, as block production is encouraged to be more of a cooperative process than a competitive one. DPoS in EOS comes with an added asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerance algorithm, which ensures the 100% confirmation of irreversibility within 1 second. The developers’ description of the EOS software highlights that it enables the vertical and horizontal scaling of decentralized applications. EOS relies on Graphene technologyThe open-source EOS software is scheduled for release in June of 2018, and even though it'll run single threaded, it'll allegedly include the necessary data structures for future parallel execution. Asynchronous communication and parallel execution are key features to ensuring EOS’ infinite-scaling potential. Users won’t have to go through the process again once a block is irreversibly added to the blockchain. EOS.io users will be able to selectively run applications they need, and configure nodes to process data they want. It therefore wouldn’t be necessary to run social media apps if the desired process is to run an exchange. Operational maintenance of the blockchain doesn’t require the participation of every node. An added flexibility feature comes from the DPoS consensus mechanism. EOS.io has also been designed with inter-chain communication in mind, and this, in short, is achieved by facilitating the generation process for proof-of-action existence and proof-of-action sequence. EOS.io will include self-describing database schemas and self-describing interfaces, meaning blockchain data will be human-readable. It'll also support many of the known programming languages such as Rust, Solidity, and C++. It uses a declarative permission scheme that enables a finely-tuned delegation of permission across accounts. Its power becomes real on a launched blockchain that integrates with the EOS.IO software. The company currently building the EOS software has stated that it has no intention of launching any public blockchain adopting said software after its open-source release. The distinction between “software” and “platform” has been very stressed upon. EOS.IO is the software currently under development, while the EOS Platform will be used to refer to the blockchain that adopts it. On a launched blockchain using the EOS software, the EOS token was designed to follow an ownership model instead of a “rental” model, which effectively eliminates transaction fees. This model gives EOS token holders access to the network’s storage, bandwidth, and processing power proportional to the stake they hold. Increasing the volume of available network resources is achieved by purchasing more EOS tokens. This enables developers to gradually scale up their applications while also receiving reliable bandwidth and computing power. Aside from the initial purchase of EOS tokens, zero transactions fees means no network development cost. EOS tokens also constitute a tool used in the voting process that decides which nodes will become block producers. It’s necessary to become an EOS token holder in order to obtain voting rights. 03 - What is a pip? - easyMarkets - Education

04:42
For more info visit: Easy Forex - http://www.easy-forex.com/gtw/6255274.aspx In order to trade successfully you need to understand what a pip is and how to calculate its value. A pip stands for "percentage in point" and is the smallest price change that a given exchange rate can make An increase or decrease in pips represents a profit or a loss in your forex trade. Let me explain further! When currencies are quoted, they are mainly quoted to the fourth decimal place (this is also true for silver and heating oil). Exceptions are pairs that include the Japanese yen (as well as commodities such as gold, oil, brent and gas), which are quoted to two decimal places. When we look at the EUR/USD pair and see it move from 1.3130 to 1.3131 it has moved 1 pip (because the fourth decimal point has increased by 1). A one pip move for the USD/JPY we can see as 77.60 to 77.61 (because the second decimal point has increased by 1). In major pairs quoted against the USD, we calculate the value of a pip as follows: The EUR/USD has an exchange rate of 1.3130. If 1 pip equals 0.0001, we divide 0.0001 by 1.3130 which gives us a pip value of €0.0000761. Let's turn this into a forex deal to see what the pip would represent in either a profit or loss. Deal 1: Sell €100,000 worth of EUR/USD, at 1.3130. Pip value in euro terms is 0.0000761 x 100,000 = €7.61 (or exactly $10!). If the deal is closed at 1.3120, with a 10 pip profit, the total profit would be €76.10, or $100. Deal 2: Buy $50,000 worth of USD/JPY, at 77.60. Pip value in dollar terms is 0.01/77.60 x 50,000 = $6.44 (or exactly ¥500!). If the deal is closed at 77.50, with a 10 pip loss, the total loss would be $64.43, or ¥5,000. It is our commitment to provide our traders with access to the best fixed spreads and execution methods, and this is why you may at times notice additional smaller numbers at the end of a currency rate. These numbers are referred to as "Fractional pips" and are a new pricing feature which lets you see more price action detail and helps you make more informed trading decisions. A fractional pip is a tenth of a pip and the addition of this feature to your account allows you to take advantage of smaller price increments and moves in the market. Instead of quoting prices to two or four decimals, with fractional pips we quote an extra digit. For example, normally EURUSD ask would be quoted as 1.3251, while with fractional pips we quote 1.32508, with the last smaller digit representing the fractional pip. Earlier we mentioned deals of 100,000 euros and 50,000 dollars which may have seemed quite large, especially if you are new to trading, but this is where an important factor comes in - the use of leverage. Leverage basically means you can trade larger amounts than your initial investment. View our video "What is leverage?" to find out how it is used in the forex market. Fixed exchange-rate system

27:39
A fixed exchange rate, sometimes called a pegged exchange rate, is a type of exchange rate regime where a currency's value is fixed against either the value of another single currency, to a basket of other currencies, or to another measure of value, such as gold. There are benefits and risks to using a fixed exchange rate. A fixed exchange rate is usually used in order to stabilize the value of a currency by directly fixing its value in a predetermined ratio to a different, more stable or more internationally prevalent currency, to which the value is pegged. In doing so, the exchange rate between the currency and its peg does not change based on market conditions, the way floating currencies will do. This makes trade and investments between the two currency areas easier and more predictable, and is especially useful for small economies in which external trade forms a large part of their GDP. A fixed exchange-rate system can also be used as a means to control the behavior of a currency, such as by limiting rates of inflation. However, in doing so, the pegged currency is then controlled by its reference value. As such, when the reference value rises or falls, it then follows that the value(s) of any currencies pegged to it will also rise and fall in relation to other currencies and commodities with which the pegged currency can be traded. In other words, a pegged currency is dependent on its reference value to dictate how its current worth is defined at any given time. In addition, according to the Mundell–Fleming model, with perfect capital mobility, a fixed exchange rate prevents a government from using domestic monetary policy in order to achieve macroeconomic stability. Binary Options Trading

If you want to make serious money in forex then you gotta know ins and outs of binary options trading. If you got the edge in binary options trading then there is no one stopping you from making money in forex. Forex Trading Tips And Tricks That Work Foreign exchange marketing involves trading currency internationally. The market can be a lucrative business venture for many, as it provides high success and profits for those who use the market correctly. Success in the market depends on determination, patience and proper knowledge. The knowledge found in this article should help you get started in the market. If you are just starting out, get your feet wet with the big currency pairs. These markets will let you learn the ropes without putting you at too much risk in a thin market. Dollar/Euro, Dollar/Yen, and the Euro/Yen are all good starting targets. Take your time and you'll soon be ready for the higher risk pairs. Having an analytical mind is a great way to succeed in Forex, and luckily you can train yourself to think more systematically and logically about the market. Take your time to go over the numbers. You will need to devise charts and study how currency pairs interact with one another. It's a new skill-set for most, but it is what the market requires of you. Gamblers belong in casinos, not on forex. Before you begin trading, make sure to study market trends and have done some stock analysis. Read books on the subject and study online as well. A basic course in forex would be worth the investment if you want to get the most out of your buying and selling experience. Forex can be a high intensity trading environment. For this reason it is absolutely necessary to have a thorough plan before beginning active trading. If you find yourself making buy and sell decisions on the spur of the moment it is time to rethink your strategy. A good plan should keep these quick decisions to a minimum to prevent emotional mistakes. To do well in Forex trading, be sure to pick an account package that is most suitable to your expectations and knowledge. In general, lower leverage means a better account. If you are a beginner, it is a good idea to learn the ropes through the use of a mini account. Watch other markets to help determine trends in forex trading. Commodity prices, for example, can be an excellent indicator of the strength or weakness of a country's economy. If commodity prices are falling, it's probably a good time to sell that currency; if commodity prices are rising, it's a good time to buy into that currency, all other things being equal. When starting off in forex trading, keep your margins small. It can be tempting with forex trading to become heavily leveraged, investing money that you do not actually have. As a novice in forex trading; however, you are more likely to lose than you are to win. If you are losing on a high margin, you end up paying out much more. There are a few things that heavily affect the trading market. These things include interest, inflation rates and exchange rates. These things should be paid attention to, as they can affect global trading of currency. The exchange rate can affect you directly too, because it affects the returns on your investments. Be sure to learn about everything that can affect the outcome of your trading. Have patience to wait for the right trade and to stick with a position that is profitable. Although it is not wise to stay in a winning position too long, it is equally unwise to pull out too early. In addition, taking time to wait for the right trade can avoid unnecessary losses. Keeping up to date with current world affairs can be a very good trait to have when using Forex. Political crisis such as wars, internal struggles, and many other things can reduce currency values. Also, things such as natural disasters that can be predicted, may reduce currency values. One should always stay current with what is going on in the world if they want to keep their investments safe. In conclusion, trading in the foreign exchange market requires hard work and sacrifice, but with enough timing, patience and knowledge, anyone can experience profit gains and success. Using the knowledge found in this article, you should be able to put yourself on the fast track to success in the forex market.

SCHOOL STUFF: Arithmetic (Part One)

04:25
QUIZ AND GAME: http://www.ruskyed.com/SCHOOL/ TRANSCRIPT: Rusky Ed here and the topic today is basic arithmetic. Check out the vocabulary words as the intro song plays! [song - vocabulary words on screen] Let’s kick this lesson off with a little joke about rabbits. It is a well known fact that rabbits multiply quickly. However, in Engish the word multiply can be taken in two ways since the word multiply has both an arithmetic and biological meaning. In Russian these two meanings are like so: Кролики быстро размножаются. (The rabbits multiply quickly. - biological) Кролики быстро умножают. (The rabbits multiply quickly. - arithmetic) Both sentences can be translated to English as “The rabbits multiply quickly,” but their meanings diverge significantly as illustrated in this quick little animation! The word размножаться refers to “multiply” in the biological sense and умножать means to “multiply” as in deriving the product of two numbers. Here’s another little joke which you might enjoy: Вопрос: Правда, что вы разбогатели благодаря математике? Скрудж МакДак: Правда. Я всегда любил складывать и умножать. Братья Гавс: Мы тоже, только мы любили отнимать и делить. So, why is this funny, you might ask. Well, putting aside the identity of the characters, a line by line analysis goes a little something like this: Правда, что вы разбогатели благодаря математике? means: “Is it true that math helped you to become rich?” Next, Правда. Я всегда любил складывать и умножать. means: “Sure. I love to add and multiply.” However, складывать and умножать both have double meanings in this sentence. More specifically, складывать can mean to add in the arithmetic sense or to collect or save up money as in the accumulation of wealth. Similarly, умножать can mean to multiply in the arithmetic sense or to increase one’s wealth. Finally, getting to the third line, Мы тоже, только мы любили отнимать и делить. means: “Us too, but we love to subtract and divide.” Again, we are dealing with double meanings and while arithmetically speaking отнимать and делить can mean subtract and divide, if we are talking about money отнимать can mean to rob and делить can mean to exchange or share, for instance, with friends or fellow gangsters. So getting to the vocabulary words for this lesson we have: математика (mathematics) вычисление (calculation, computation) разбогатеть (to become rich) сложение (addition) вычитание (subtraction) умножение (multiplication) деление (division) размножение (reproduction) сумма (sum, result of addition) разница (difference, result of subtraction) произведение (product, result of multiplication) частное (quotient, result of division) Additionally, we have a few verbs: Words for to add include складывать and прибавлять Words for to subtract include отнимать and вычитать To multiply is умножать To divide is делить It seems that we have covered quite a lot in this lesson already and so hopefully you will study in ernest because… В пятницу состоится экзамен. Тестирование будет в пятницу. Both of those little sentences mean “There will be a quiz on Friday.” Hopefully the prospect of a test does not cause you too much anxiety, but be that as it may, it is now time for Rusky Ed to sign off...

What Is Double Spending And How Does Cryptocurrency Like Bitcoin Prevent It?

01:48
Bitcoin is currently gaining popularity at an absolutely insane rate all over the world as both a form of digital currency and also as a payment method that is not only secure, but very private and dependable as well. In order to fully understand exactly how bitcoin solves this double spending delima, we will need to first define what exactly the double spending problem is. To be perfectly honest, it’s actually a fairly easy idea to comprehend and this issue only arises on the word wide web and not in real world scenarios. This is because you cannot double spend with something like cash. Definition states that double spending is, “a failure mode of digital cash schemes, when it is possible to spend a single digital token twice. Since, unlike physical token money such as coins, electronic files can be duplicated, and hence the act of spending a digital coin does not remove its data from the ownership of the original holder.” So, precisely what does this all mean,  you may ask? Let’s look at the following example. Let's say you go to a local retailer to purchase a book. You have a ten dollar bill in your pocket and the book also costs exactly ten dollars (tax included). Once you pay for the book with your ten dollar bill, that money will now be in the drawer of the cash register at the store you bought it at. That exact ten dollar bill can only be in one place at one time. This means that is without a doubt cannot be in your wallet AND the store register at the same time! When it comes to monetary transactions taking place online however, things can happen a bit differently. Both sales and purchases made online these days are almost entirely done using a combination of computer coding and also algorithms. All this means means, is the same money cannot be in two or more different places at the same exact time. In order to prevent this exact scenario from happening, there are actually very advanced payment gateways and processors such as PayPal, Worldpay, Authorize.net and many other similar companies and services to make sure that this double spending does not, indeed occur. These payment processors have very advanced systems in place that review all the transactions carefully in order to catch and prevent any and all mistakes from occurring. But also to help prevent fraud as well which is and always will be a threat when dealing with transactions such as this. Now, in spite of these processors being first rate and highly consistent and reliable, there are also a couple disadvantages as well. If, for instance, there are any technical issues, or the platform flags your transaction as sketchy or shady, your transactions will be denied. This safeguard is what is known as a single point of failure system. In addition to that, you may also find that your account will be suspended pending review. This means that your funds will also be stuck until your account is cleared and passed the review. Over the past few years recently, there have been a shocking amount of people have reported having their PayPal accounts suspended or completely shut down for absolutely no good reason at all. In addition to this, in order to maintain their services, said platforms will charge fees ranging from 2%-5%  and even higher! Depending on your volume of transactions, these can really add up quickly and be quite the exorbitant tax on your transactions. Bitcoin and most other kinds of alt-coins and cryptocurrency make this double spending issue a lot less problematic because the blockchain simply does not rely on a single point of failure like what these other processors and platforms do. The bitcoin payment system uses the blockchain to prevent double spending from occurring and it does so without incurring nearly as high of fees as other competitors. Now, I don't want to get too technical here, but a blockchain is in actuality, a shared database by all the nodes participating in that specific coin system. In this case Bitcoin. There is a record on said database of all the........ Total Cryptocurrency 101 for Digital Newbies

02:11
When the first cryptocurrency, bitcoin, was introduced, it was a great gamble to see if something without a physical presence that wasn’t backed by any material assets would be accepted as legitimate money. The first bitcoins were valued at 8/1000 of one US cent. As of February 2017, they reached as high as $1250 per bitcoin. Things seem to be working out. To get an idea of how this is possible, consider these basic rules behind cryptocurrency. Out of Thin Air Bitcoin The first and most successful cryptocurrency is bitcoin. This virtual money also serves as a blueprint for most of its competitors. Starting with the idea that modern fiat currencies work because people simply accept them as legitimate means of exchange, the creator of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, a nom de guerre, invented a software algorithm that would generate virtual coins that couldn’t be counterfeited. Use of the software, referred to as mining, first involves gathering all records of existing transactions into a ledger called a blockchain. It then verifies the latest transactions by solving a series of algorithm puzzles. If successful, the person operating the mining software is awarded a set number of bitcoins along with a small transaction fee payment. Originally, 50 bitcoins were given to a miner for a successful solution, but the algorithm is designed to reduce this award to keep the total number of bitcoins at 21 million when the system reaches the end of its production cycle. This design feature prevents currency inflation. Currently, miners are rewarded with 12.5 bitcoins per solution. As a cryptocurrency, each bitcoin consists of a long identification code that the owner stores in their own computer memory or in a third-party storage site. The Competition The success of bitcoin has launched roughly 700 other cryptocurrencies. The vast majority have yet to gain traction, but some, like litecoin, have gained acceptance by offering a unique twist. Litecoin differs from bitcoin by making verification quicker, 2.5 minutes instead of 10 minutes for bitcoin, and by aiming to ultimately supply 84 million coins before production finally ends. This approach has kept litecoin’s value more stable over time. Another alternative, Ripple, differs by allowing any object of value such as dollars, gold, and even frequent flyer points to be exchanged along with its own cryptocurrency, the XRP. Also, instead of blockchains being verified by miners, everyone in the network is notified of each transaction. One of the emerging cryptocurrencies is OneCoin. OneCoin helps its users to make payments easier, faster and at a low cost. In addition, OneCoin provides education, thus simplifying and demystifying cryptocurrency.

The Investment Perspective Comparing the potential use cases for the Bitcoin and Ethereum protocols and the potential return, i.e., how many times I can multiply my money invested measured in “X”’s; Bitcoin appears drastically more appealing than Ethereum. For Bitcoin, the use case as a superior store of value (SoV) and digital money are clear; and those uses cases work in the real world today. We know from previous work that the potential return for Bitcoin as a SoV is virtually unlimited as Bitcoin has the potential to capture value stored in $263 trillion stored in traditional assets. In addition, Bitcoin as a new form of money means that it has the potential to capture value held in legacy fiat money with a potential to capture an estimated $38 trillion in value (M1 quantity of top 20 countries) or more. Bitcoin’s use as a SoV and money digital means that Bitcoin has the potential to 2000X and 300X respectively, and Bitcoin is capturing value stored in these assets today. Even if Bitcoin only captured 1% of value stored in these assets the price would increase to over $150,000 per coin. How can you minimize the holiday costs without affecting the plan?

01:13
Lisa Taylor from moneyfacts.co.uk comments on the options available to travellers when spending overseas and the costs that consumers should be but are sometimes not aware of. Whether planning a summer holiday or jetting off for Easter, consumers are keen to check the costs when it comes to choosing the hotel, flights, insurance, and airport parking, but tend not to use the same level of consideration when choosing the cheapest option when it comes to their spending money. With each provider charging varying fees which are not immediately visible and often not fully appreciated by the consumer, it is a potential minefield to find the 'best' deal, and this becomes much worse as we consider the outside influence of exchange rates. Consumers have three main options, the traditional travellers cheques and currency, debit cards or credit cards. Amex has also launched into the prepay card arena, with a card designed for overseas travel, but the rest of the industry is yet to catch on. Traditional cheques and currency are still popular with many travellers and offer a competitive market place for providers. Commission free deals are becoming easier to find particularly for currency and currency travellers cheques, where there is still scope for profit by means of discounted exchange rates. Unfortunately without plenty of leg work by the consumer, it proves a difficult market in which to compare deals. Providers offer varying commission deals, but without taking into consideration the exchange rate it is impossible to decipher the 'best' overall deal. Moneyfacts complies a full list of providers detailing charges, offers and delivery details, which can be found at www.moneyfacts.co.uk. The competitive nature of the market reinforces the message that there is profit to be made, even when offering 0% commission. Large institutions such as NatWest and HSBC are offering free prize draws as an means to entice customers to buy their holiday from them. After finding their chosen provider, in many cases the consumer has a much more flexible choice, than was previously available, with the ability to order online, on the telephone and the option of home or branch delivery. But do beware; these do sometimes come at a cost. Credit cards are becoming an increasingly popular method of payments and withdrawing cash abroad. Many of us do not realise that, when using a credit card abroad, the card issuer adds on a foreign usage loading; this can be as high as 2.75%. That means a consumer spending £1,000 abroad would be charged £27.50. There are however a few exceptions to this rule within the market, including Nationwide and Saga who do not charge for usage anywhere in the world. In addition, if withdrawing cash overseas, consumers will also be charged a cash withdrawal fee, which can be as high as 2.5%. So withdrawing £1,000 cash could cost you as much as £52.50. Debit cards also come attached with foreign loadings up to 2.75%, cash withdrawal fees and in some cases an additional per item charge for purchases, tucked away in the small print, giving customers a nasty surprise when the statement hits their door mat. Any consumer looking to rely solely on a debit card would be well advised to consider Nationwide, the only provider not to impose cash or purchase fees. What is TREASURY MANAGEMENT? What does TREASURY MANAGEMENT mean?

What does TREASURY MANAGEMENT mean? TREASURY MANAGEMENT meaning - TREASURY MANAGEMENT definition - TREASURY MANAGEMENT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Treasury management (or treasury operations) includes management of an enterprise's holdings, with the ultimate goal of managing the firm's liquidity and mitigating its operational, financial and reputational risk. Treasury Management includes a firm's collections, disbursements, concentration, investment and funding activities. In larger firms, it may also include trading in bonds, currencies, financial derivatives and the associated financial risk management. Most banks have whole departments devoted to treasury management and supporting their clients' needs in this area. Until recently, large banks had the stronghold on the provision of treasury management products and services. However, smaller banks are increasingly launching and/or expanding their treasury management functions and offerings, because of the market opportunity afforded by the recent economic environment (with banks of all sizes focusing on the clients they serve best), availability of (recently displaced) highly seasoned treasury management professionals, access to industry standard, third-party technology providers' products and services tiered according to the needs of smaller clients, and investment in education and other best practices. A number of independent treasury management systems (TMS) are available, allowing enterprises to conduct treasury management internally. For non-banking entities, the terms Treasury Management and Cash Management are sometimes used interchangeably, while, in fact, the scope of treasury management is larger (and includes funding and investment activities mentioned above). In general, a company's treasury operations comes under the control of the CFO, Vice-President / Director of Finance or Treasurer, and is handled on a day-to-day basis by the organization's treasury staff, controller, or comptroller. In addition the Treasury function may also have a Proprietary Trading desk that conducts trading activities for the bank's own account and capital, an Asset liability management (ALM) desk that manages the risk of interest rate mismatch and liquidity; and a Transfer pricing or Pooling function that prices liquidity for business lines (the liability and asset sales teams) within the bank. Banks may or may not disclose the prices they charge for Treasury Management products, however the Phoenix Hecht Blue Book of Pricing may be a useful source of regional pricing information by product or service. Concerns about systemic risks in Over The Counter (OTC) derivatives markets, led to G20 leaders agreeing to new reforms being rolled out in 2015. This new regulation, states that largely standardized OTC derivative contracts should be traded on electronic exchanges, and cleared centrally by Central Counterparty/Clearing House trades. Trades and their daily valuation should also be reported to authorized Trade Repositories and initial and variation margins should be collected and maintained .

How Do REITs Work?

04:02
REITs, or real estate investment trusts, were created by Congress in 1960 to give all individuals the opportunity to benefit from investing in income-producing real estate. REITs allow anyone to own or finance properties the same way they invest in other industries, through the purchase of stock. In the same way shareholders benefit by owning stocks in other corporations, the stockholders of a REIT earn a share of the income produced through real estate investment, without actually having to go out and buy or finance property. This video provides some insight into what REITs are and how they work. The REIT industry has a diverse profile, which offers many benefits. REITs often are classified in one of two categories: Equity REITs or Mortgage REITs. Equity REITs own a wide range of property types including offices, shopping centers, hotels, apartments and much more. Equity REITs derive most of their revenue from rent on those properties. Mortgage REITs may finance both residential and commercial properties. Mortgage REITs get most of their revenue from interest earned on their investments in mortgages or mortgage backed securities. In addition, REITs may be publicly registered with the SEC and have their shares listed and traded on major stock exchanges, or they may be publicly registered with the SEC but not have their shares listed or traded on major stock exchanges, or they may be private companies (not registered with the SEC and not having their shares listed or traded on a stock exchange. Regardless of the type, REITs operate under a specific set of rules established by Congress. A REIT is an entity that: • is modeled after mutual funds • is treated by the Internal Revenue Code as a corporation • must be widely held by shareholders • must primarily own or finance real estate, and • must own its real estate with a longterm investment horizon. The IRS implements the REIT rules and oversees what qualifies as a REIT. The Internal Revenue Code requires a REIT to adhere to the following essential rules: at least 75 percent of the corporation's income must be earned from real estate as rent, real estate interest or from the sales of real estate assets; at least 75 percent of the corporation's assets must be real estate assets; and, at least 95 percent of income must be passive. REITs are required to distribute at least 90 percent of taxable income annually to shareholders as taxable dividends. In other words, a REIT cannot retain its earnings. Like a mutual fund, a REIT receives a dividends-paid deduction so no tax is paid at the entity level if 100 percent of income is distributed. REIT shareholders pay taxes on dividends at ordinary rates versus the lower qualified rate. Over time, REITs and the rules and regulations that govern them have evolved to meet the changing needs of the real estate industry and the broader economy. But throughout that process, REITs have remained true to the mission laid out by Congress in 1960: to make the benefits of income-producing real estate accessible to anyone and everyone. And that's still how they work today. By Mitch Irzinski

All Fund Management Is Active

05:42
(Transcript is below) In this short video, ICI Chief Economist Sean Collins explains why it’s important to remember that active management is everywhere, whether money is flowing into—or out of—actively managed funds or index funds. For more information, visit https://www.ici.org --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sean Collins: Hi. I’m Sean Collins, senior director for industry and financial research at ICI. I’m going to talk to you today about active management and, in particular, the notion that active management is everywhere. A major development going on in mutual funds and exchange-traded funds is that much of the money coming into mutual funds and ETFs has been directed toward index-based mutual funds and ETFs. But what you may not know about this shift from actively managed to index-based funds is that active management is everywhere. First, let’s ask a basic question: what is an index fund? An index fund is a fund that invests in all of the securities in a particular market index. For example, the S&P 500 Index is an index of the stocks of 500 large companies that are listed and sold on US stock markets. Let’s now look at the question of active management. Suppose you decide to put all of the cash you have available for investing into an S&P 500 index fund. Even though you’ve invested solely in an index fund, that’s an active decision, at least implicitly. It’s active in the sense that you’ve decided to invest in a fund that holds only large-cap stocks that are US listed companies. By investing solely in an S&P 500 index fund, you’ve decided not to hold any small-cap stocks; you’ve decided not to hold any foreign stocks; you’ve decided not to hold any bonds. You’ve made an active decision. So that’s one sense in which active management is everywhere. Let’s talk about another factor affecting this issue. There’s been a shift from active management inside funds, to active management outside of funds. This development also is part of the shift to index funds. What do I mean? I’ll give you an example. Let’s look at an actively managed mutual fund—we’ll call it Fund A. The fund has a portfolio manager who buys and sells securities for the fund—let’s say Stock X and Stock Y—and who decides how to allocate the fund’s assets between stocks X and Y. She might put 80 percent here and 20 percent here, or she might do something a little bit different. As portfolio manager of an actively managed fund, she has the ability to make choices and to change her decisions. She might also at some point decide that she wants to add another stock—Stock Z. And she might decide that she wants to add a bond—let’s call it Bond Q. To do this, she might sell some combination of Stock X or Stock Y. That’s active management inside of a mutual fund. Now suppose we have three index funds—they could be mutual funds or exchange-traded funds—also known as ETFs. Let’s call them Funds E, F, and G. Let’s say you decide to invest all of your cash in those index funds, in some proportion. Suppose you decide, like many people, to hire a financial professional to help you manage the assets in your portfolio of index funds. The financial professional, who doesn’t have anything to do with the management of those index funds, is in effect providing active management for you, by helping you build and manage your portfolio. This person, for example, might help you choose an initial asset allocation. If you had $100,000 that you wanted to invest, this financial professional might help you choose an allocation between index funds E, F, and G, based on your long-term goals and your personal circumstances, including your income, whether or not you’re married and have children, how close you are to retirement, etc. This financial professional might also help you reallocate assets. What does that mean? Well, for example, as you grow older, it’s generally considered a good idea to add fixed-income investments—bonds, generally—to your portfolio. So as you grew older, the financial professional might suggest adding a bond index fund—Fund H—to your portfolio. In addition, the professional may give you advice on how to adjust your portfolio in response to changing market conditions. Throughout this process, and over time, the professional is providing active management of a portfolio of index funds. If you do this without the help of a financial professional, this simply means that you yourself are actively managing your portfolio. So though you’ll see lots of debate in the media about active versus index investing, it’s wise to remember that active management is everywhere, whether money is flowing into, or out of, actively managed funds or index funds. I hope you found this brief overview of active management helpful. For more information and resources, please visit ICI’s website at www.ici.org.

Alpha Play Forex Scalping Masterclass

06:34
http://www.alphaplay.com.sg/forex-scalping-masterclass Are you wondering if there is a proven formula to making money in the Forex market without worrying too much about the central bank decisions, currency interest rates and news events? Well there is! The answer lies in scalping the market - the skimming of small profits on a regular basis, by going in and out of positions several times per day. Now before you scoff at the prospect of doing so because somebody has told you he tried scalping and failed miserably or because some other trainer has warned you against this trading style, do yourself a favour. Wash out your ears and forget whatever you've heard. One of the many reasons why many traders failed in scalping is because they fail to understand the essence of scalping and the way currencies move on a short term basis. If you are a beginner to the Forex market, we do not recommend you to start off with scalping. Equip yourself first with a basic understanding of the Forex market and acquaint yourself with technical analysis; gain some experience and exposure in the market first. For this purpose, we do have a Forex Trading For Beginners Workshop. If you are a more experienced currency trader, you should be able to understand the concepts of scalping just fine. You will also be able to appreciate the merits of employing scalping to trade. As a scalper, you will be able to enter trades at a very precise level with tighter stop losses; thus lowering your risks and in turn increasing your risk to reward ratios significantly. In layman terms, that means you will be risking a little to make a lot more. In addition, as a scalper, you will learn how to identify and capture more trading opportunities. If you miss one opportunity, you can look for another trading opportunity in the market easily. In other words, you will never miss out on money making opportunities! To be a consistently profitable scalper, you need to first be a competent chart reader and be able to select the ideal currency pairs to trade. You will also need to have a high level of precision in timing your trades and pulling the trigger for your entries. Sounds difficult? Well, fret not! We will teach you all these and more in our Forex Scalping Masterclass!

What Is The FBAR

05:35
Effective July 1, 2013, electronic filing of FinCEN’s BSA e-filing system is mandatory for all FBARs. In addition, the FBAR form previously known as the TD F 90-22.1 was superceded by the FinCEN Form 114. When is the FBAR due? FBAR filing is due on June 30 for the prior calendar year. No filing extension is available. Elements of FBAR Filing There are four elements of FBAR Filing 1. “US Persons” must file if, 2. They have a financial interest in or signature authority over an account, 3. That account is a Foreign Financial Account, and 4. The aggregate value of the account(s) exceeds $10,000 at any time during the calendar year. So what does a US person mean. It means: • US citizens no matter where they reside • US residents • And US entities, which is any entity created or organized in the US or under US law US resident generally means a person that meets the green card and/or substantial presence test and those who have elected to be treated as residents. “Financial interest” generally means a US person who is the record owner or holds title directly, whereas “signature authority” means that you are not an owner but you can control the disposition of the account assets. “Foreign” means outside the United States. It is the physical location of the account that governs whether the location is outside of the U.S. The U.S. means all 50 states, D.C. and US territories and possessions. “Financial” means both monetary and non-monetary assets such as bank, brokerage and investment accounts, insurance and annuity policies with a cash value and mutual fund holdings. In general, it does not include real and personal property. There are exceptions to reportable accounts that are defined in the FBAR instructions or that your qualified tax professional could advise you about what exceptions may apply to you. “Account” means a relationship with a financial institution or a person acting as a financial institution. Lastly, aggregate value exceeds $10,000. To do this, you aggregate accounts with financial interest and those with signature authority. If the aggregate value exceeded $10,000 at any point during the calendar year, an FBAR is required. Valuing Foreign Financial Accounts For The FBAR • Each account must be valued separately at its highest value for the calendar year • You can rely on periodic statements such as monthly statements, however it may be easier just to ask your bank for the highest account value for the year • The value in your local currency must be converted to US dollars based on the December 31 Treasury Reporting Rate of Exchange • You must aggregate all accounts, however you do not double count accounts for determining the threshold. • So let’s take a look at how that works The FBAR reporting requirements are deceptively complex with severe penalties for failure to comply with the requirements. Please don’t hesitate to contact us here at Tax Samaritan for assistance with your FBAR reporting needs – whether timely filing or late filing we can help. It is important to note that there are severe civil and criminal penalties that can be applicable for failing to comply with the FBAR filing requirements.

Week 9: Why flow is vital for a successful reef tank | 52 Weeks of Reefing #BRS160

20:23
http://brs.li/BRS160_Week9lp Today we will talk about why proper flow is important; give a solid overview of most the pump options out there including ac powerheads, wave makers, DC powerheads, Gyres and external closed loops. We will also hit on all the features of the most popular brands like Tunze powerheads, Vortech MP10, Vortech MP40 and the Vectra l1. Proper ongoing maintenance for your pumps and finish with the flow solution we selected for the BRS 160. Water flow is one of the more important elements of a reef tank. Water movement promotes gas exchange which increases oxygen, decreases carbon dioxide and helps maintain the pH of the tank. Proper water flow also plays an important role in biological function within the coral. Good flow will keep the coral’s tissue surrounded with oxygen rich water, calcium and alkalinity which promotes proper respiration and calcification. Ecotech MP10 and Ecotech MP 40 powerheads have been a staple in reefing for almost a decade now. Water flow also serves as the mechanism which corals use to pump and circulate fluids, nutrients, important elements and waste within the coral by constantly pushing on the corals soft tissue with irregular patterns. Strong flow is also believed to be closely related to preventing coral bleaching by helping the coral rid itself of the toxic oxygen radicals which can be produced with long intense lighting periods like those found in many reef aquariums. These days flow is almost always provided with a powerhead of some type which is just a small efficient pump that uses an impeller or propeller to shoot high velocity water out the front. This type of pump is generally really easy to install and consumes very little power for the amount of flow it creates. AC power heads are the most popular simply because they are the most affordable. There are three major brands which all have different advantages: Tunze, Hydor, and Sicce. When more control over flow and efficiency is desired, DC powerheads will be your best bet. DC pumps are not only capable of always starting in the correct direction every time but they also can slowly and evenly ramp up and down from zero gallons to thousands of gallons an hour. This also opens the pumps up to some really unique designs. Tunze, VorTech, Neptune, and Maxspect all offer controllable DC pumps. *Legal Stuff* The purpose and content of this video is to provide general information regarding the products and their applications as presented in the video. 07:25
http://bitcoinprofitbitcoins.com Bitcoin - Secrets To Making Money With Bitcoins The digital landscape is evolving at full-throttle. First we saw the birth of virtual businesses and now there is digital currency, Bitcoins. Is there anything that we can't expect? This digital currency has created a buzz across the globe, from Washington to Tokyo to China, as the price of a Bitcoin reaches as high as $1,242; nearly worth an ounce of gold. So, if you are not aware about this new face of currency but have heard people talking about it, well then this article is a must read for you as we unfold all there is that you need to know about Bitcoins that by the way is expected to become a legitimate global currency in the near future. So, let's get started: Bitcoin was launched in 2009 and was introduced to the world as open source software by pseudonymous developer Satoshi Nakamoto. It is also referred to as cryptocurrency as it uses cryptography to control the creation and transfer of money. This currency is stored entirely by computers and spread across the internet. What's really interesting about this currency is that there are no middle men, meaning no bank involved in the process of exchanging Bitcoins. They are now being actively used to buy merchandise online. In addition to this, Bitcoins have become an easy and a cheap way to make online international transactions as it is not tied to any country, nor subject to any kind of regulation and there are no credit card charges. You'll be surprised to know that until 2013 this currency was being sold for a measly $13. However, now it is as we mentioned above, worth an ounce of gold. Buy and Sell Bitcoins on an Exchange You can easily buy and sell Bitcoins from several marketplaces called 'Bitcoin exchanges'. And did you know Mt. Gox is the largest Bitcoin exchange? As Bitcoin is not a physical currency, it is stored in a digital wallet that exists in either the cloud or on your computer. The digital wallet is like your virtual bank account that enables you to send and receive Bitcoins and pay for goods online. Indulge in Transfers You can purchase products and transfer Bitcoins using mobile apps. The good news is that many merchants have now begun to accept Bitcoins. In fact, this number is growing massively by every passing year. You can practically buy anything with them, such as web hosting services, pizza, Subway sandwiches, manicures and even pay for medical treatments. More Insights Here are some more sights about this cyberspace currency: • Bitcoins are mined by powerful computers that handle and complete complex math problems. The Valley Exchange Episode 7: All About Hard Goods

33:04
Our Website: http://www.thevalleyexchange.com/ iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-valley-exchange/id1135542562 We set some personal goals for ourselves this week. We want to be making a thousand more in profit per month in order to save up for a house. This means that we will have to ramp up our sales, and stay focused if we wish to attain this number. Buying a house has always been a dream of ours, and we are excited that eBay can help us reach this dream. Weekly and monthly totals • Today: $130 • Week: $1,200 • 31 Days: $4,500 So far our sales have been excellent, and we are excited to see our growth as a company. A lot of what has been helping us succeed is hard goods, which we define as basically anything that is not clothing. Hard Goods have been pushing over $100 a day in sales, which is fantastic. While clothing is still our bread and butter, we are trying to list more hard goods in addition in order to drive sales as much as possible. Let us know in the comments if you prefer hard or soft goods and why.
