A Path Forward: Solar, Jobs and Consumer Choice In Illinois

02:07
Exelon/ComEd's SB 1585 poses a serious threat to the growth of the solar industry in Illinois. SB 1585 would devastate the growth potential of the state's burgeoning clean energy economy by implementing mandatory demand charges on all residential customers and eliminating retail net metering. Still in its infancy, with fewer than 1,000 solar installations in the state, we should be expanding access to solar not eliminating options for residents and risking thousands of jobs. Illinois can be a leader in clean energy choices for all residents. Don’t allow Illinois to shut out solar. Stop demand charges, preserve solar net metering, and say yes to solar. Help fix senate bill 1585. Learn more at: www.AllianceForSolarChoice.com

He said: "Our commitment to the UK is multifaceted as Raytheon adds value to the local and national economies, through creating jobs and skills, and through generating intellectual property. Industry at all levels, academia, and government can all work together to create the right environment for investment in the UK, leveraging the competitive advantage that we possess to drive overseas trade growth and inwards investment into the UK." The event, which is being held on June 24, is being hosted by Ford Motor Company Ltd at the Dunton Technical Centre in Laindon. Ameren Reports Strong Earnings Beat, Top Line Down 12.2% (AEE)

01:38
2/18/2010-Ameren (NYSE:AEE) reported Q4 EPS of $0.37, besting consensus estimates of $0.27. Revenues fell 12.2% year-over-year to $1.6 billion, missing consenus estimates of $1.9 billion. Ameren expects 2010 EPS in the range of $2.20 to $2.60, versus consensus estimates of $2.35. Thomas R. Voss, president and CEO, commented, "I am pleased to report 2009 earnings per share in line with our expectations. During 2009, we reduced planned spending, headcount and investment across the company to mitigate the negative impact on sales of a weak economy, the Noranda aluminum smelter outage and milder-than-normal weather. "We also enhanced our financial strength and liquidity position by issuing new long-term debt and equity, extending our credit facilities and taking the difficult step of reducing our common dividend. Our regulated utilities are seeking rate increases to recover our costs and earn fair returns on investments. These actions have established a solid foundation for executing our future strategies and creating long-term shareholder value. "Today we are also announcing 2010 GAAP and core earnings guidance of $2.20 to $2.60 per share. The expected decline in 2010 earnings, compared to 2009, primarily reflects lower projected merchant generation segment margins."

Freedom 35 Top Short Stock Pick GXP May 13 2014

http://thestockmarketbasics.com/freedom-35-membership/ The top short stock pick on the list is GXP, Great Plains Energy Inc. (NYSE: GXP). GXP is in the electricity sector and trades on the NYSE. We like GXP as a short for tomorrow for the following reasons: The stock was in an uptrend along with the rest of the sector Since mid-March the stock has been chopping sideways and looking toppy Yesterday the stock gapped down and tried to rally before reversing to close at the lows Today the stock gapped down and dropped on heavy volume, closing at the lows We will see if there is any continuation to the downside in this name tomorrow. If the stock trades below $25.47 we will look to short it with a price target of $25.02 as an intra-day trade. http://thestockmarketbasics.com/freedom-35-top-short-stock-pick-gxp-may-13-2014/

Canadian Consulate Sustainability Conference | Global Voices Lecture Series

02:19:15
On October 26th at International House, government representatives from Canada, Mexico, and the United States held a panel discussion on how North America is working to mitigate climate change, implement sustainability objectives at international, national and local levels, and meet shared objectives from the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21) and the North American Leaders' Summit. Following this trilateral, multi-national forum, representatives from the City of Chicago and local organizations discussed initiatives to make Chicago a more sustainable city. The first panel is a trilateral Canada-Mexico-US panel with speakers discussing shared climate change goals from Paris, North America’s role in fighting climate change as expressed during the North American Leaders’ Summit (NALS) and work to set/achieve national targets. Proposed speakers are drawn from USEPA, Environment Canada, SEMARNAT, and local Canadian and Mexican consulates. This was an excellent opportunity to highlight to a US audience the three countries compatible positions on climate change, environmental stewardship, and work towards the trilateral NALS initiatives of clean energy and the environment. Speakers for the trilateral panel include Enrique Lendo Fuentes, Head of the International Affairs Unit of the Mexican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and Daniel Wolfish, Director General of the Multilateral and Bilateral Affairs Directorate of Environment and Climate Change Canada. Howard Learner, President and Executive Director of the Environmental Law & Policy Center, moderated the discussion. The second panel, organized by various University of Chicago and local Chicago sustainability groups, focuses on local city/community/university-level initiatives and policies to achieve sustainability and climate change goals at the local level (in line with the national goals covered in the first panel). Proposed speakers on this panel include the City of Chicago’s Chief Sustainability officer, a similar speaker from the University of Chicago, academics, and local NGO representatives. Speakers for the second, regional panel include Chris Wheat, Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Chicago; Mayor Rahm Emanuel; Charlie Catlett, Director Urban Center for Computation and Data and Senior Fellow Argonne National Laboratory; and Sumit Ray, UChicago Office of Sustainability, Engineering and Facilities. Rachel Bronson, Director of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, moderated the panel.
