Imports, Exports, and Exchange Rates: Crash Course Economics #15

10:11
What is a trade deficit? Well, it all has to do with imports and exports and, well, trade. This week Jacob and Adriene walk you through the basics of imports, exports, and exchange. So, you remember the specialization and trade thing, right? So, that leads to imports and exports. Economically, in the aggregate, this is usually a good thing. Globalization and free trade do tend to increase overall wealth. But not everybody wins. Crash Course is on Patreon! Venezuela Approves Parallel Currency Exchange System Amid Political Crisis

00:34
According to Reuters, Venezuelan authorities on Monday approved a new, privately run foreign exchange system that will operate in parallel to the official currency control system. The currency controls have sold dollars at an advantageous rate for basic goods while at times also selling hard currency for other items at a less favorable rate. Critics call the currency controls one of the principal distortions of the crisis-stricken economy. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/OtDBSFh3GE0/venezuela-approves-parallel-currency-exchange-system-amid-political-crisis-idUSKCN1PM2AA http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

New plan to control bolivar exchange rate

01:49
Venezuelan officials announced on Tuesday that they will allow a free-floating exchange rate for the country's battered currency. The socialist South American government has been struggling to maintain its decade-old currency controls as inflation has soared with heavy public spending. Now the falling price of petroleum is slamming the oil-based economy. While the bolivar is trading for about 190 per US dollar on the black market, the government sells dollars for the most crucial imports at rates of 6.3 or 12 bolivars and demands that retailers hold down prices to reflect the subsidies. It has also been selling limited amounts of hard currency at a third rate, around 52 bolivars to the dollar, but officials say that rate will now be replaced by a more transparent system in which dealers and buyers exchange currency on a supply and demand basis. Finance Minister Rodolfo Marco Torres said the new system would "not rely on speculative factors that are external to the economy". But officials said trades would have to be made through authorised banks or exchange houses and only people with dollar-denominated bank accounts can take part. The full regulations governing the new market are to be published on Wednesday. Mitsubishi Electric PLC controls Llwyn Onn water treatment works for Dee Valley Water

03:13
The Dee Valley Water (DVW) project to build a new water treatment works at its flagship site, Llwyn Onn in North Wales, has now been completed. The £17M project was officially opened in March 2014 by the Minister for Natural Resources and Food, Alun Davies and is controlled by a Mitsubishi Electric system redundant, Q series modular PLC solution. The new works has been operational since August 2013. The new works provides DVW with the capacity to produce 47,000m3 of drinking water per day for Wrexham and the surrounding area. In addition to the standard treatment processes, Llwyn Onn also includes an automated processing system for removing manganese, a mineral that occurs naturally in the surface water of the DVW area. With so many people depending on a continued supply of clean water the process for selecting a reliable automation control system for the entire works was particularly stringent. In all, four automation providers, including Mitsubishi, submitted proposals which were scrutinised by DVW and the main project contractor Black &Veatch, before the preferred Mitsubishi solution was chosen. About Mitsubishi Electric With over 90 years of experience in providing reliable, high-quality products to both corporate clients and general consumers all over the world, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation is a recognized world leader in the manufacture, marketing and sales of electrical and electronic equipment used in information processing and communications, space development and satellite communications, consumer electronics, industrial technology, as well as in products for the energy sector, water and waste water, transportation and building equipment. Rothschild: ‘New World Order’ Will Be In Place By 2018

14:57
✅ please leave me a tip here ✅ https://www.seekingthetruth.info/tipjar/ ✅ https://www.patreon.com/truthseeker 💻50% Off Coupon for Life Torguard VPN Promo code: truth101 💻Torguard VPN Services: https://goo.gl/iBDGTj Lord Jacob Rothschild has boasted that the New World Order will have full control over humanity by the year 2018. An issue of the Rothschild controlled Economist magazine published in 1988 openly told its readers that a world currency would be in place by 2018. Disclose.tv reports: With this in mind, the Economist is operating as a quasi-propaganda arm for the banking empire and it is meant to prime the public opinion that the globalist agenda will implement. CONTROLLING INTEREST OF THE ECONOMIST HELD BY ROTHSCHILD FAMILY In the magazine, on January 9, 1988, it was said that 30 years from now people in the United States, Europe and the Japanese along with others in countries that are rich, will be paying for shopping using the same currency. The price of items will not be shown in yen, dollars or the great British pound, but in one currency. This currency is going to be favored by shoppers along with companies as it would be a great deal more convenient than the different currencies of today. IDEA OF SINGLE CURRENCY STARTED BACK IN 1988 AND WAS CALLED OUTLANDISH The idea of a single currency back in 1988 seemed to be outlandish. One of the biggest changes to the world economy since the 70s has been that flowing money has taken over trade in goods as being the force behind driving the exchange rates. Due to the integrations of the financial markets around the globe, the differences in national economic policies that are known to change the interest rates, big transfers of financial assets are made from one country to another. The transfers are able to swamp the trade revenue flows in effect on demand and supply of the different currencies and so in the effect on the exchange rates. Telecommunications technology is continuing to grow in advancement and transactions are going to be cheaper and they will get faster. Thanks to economic policies that are uncoordinated, currencies are only going to get even more volatile. THE CURRENCY UNION IS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT TO RESIST The national economic boundaries are very slowly dissolving and the trend is going to continue, and the appeal of the currency union is going to be hard to resist to everyone, apart from the foreign-exchange traders along with governments. With the new single currency, the economic adjustment to the shift in relative prices is something that is going to occur smoothly, and it will happen automatically. With no currency risk trade, employment and investment will be spurred on. Futures Market Explained

04:27
Farmers use various tools to control the many risks in agriculture. Watching the weather influences when they plant or harvest. Buying crop insurance and selecting farm bill safety net programs helps protect them from crop devastation. But they can also manage some of the threat posed by volatile market prices by participating in the futures market. Farmers can get a feel for how that works if they play Commodity Classic, an online teaching tool that uses fictitious bushels of grain in a fake futures market. But here at Harvest Public Media, we wanted to better understand how the futures market helps both producers and users of a major commodity, such as corn. And how the benefits trickle down to regular food consumers. Here’s what we learned.

How ATM Works

04:44
An automated teller machine (ATM) is an electronic telecommunications device that enables the clients of a financial institution to perform financial transactions without the need for a cashier, human clerk or bank teller. On most modern ATMs, the customer is identified by inserting a plastic ATM card with a magnetic stripe or a plastic smart card with a chip that contains a unique card number and some security information such as an expiration date or CVVC (CVV). Authentication is provided by the customer entering a personal identification number (PIN). Using an ATM, customers can access their bank accounts in order to make cash withdrawals, debit card cash advances, and check their account balances as well as purchase pre-paid mobile phone credit. If the currency being withdrawn from the ATM is different from that which the bank account is denominated in (e.g.: Withdrawing Japanese Yen from a bank account containing US Dollars), the money will be converted at an official wholesale exchange rate. Thus, ATMs often provide one of the best possible official exchange rates for foreign travelers, and are also widely used for this purpose. http://engineers-channel.blogspot.com/p/atm.html

Doug Levinson takes a trip into the United States Federal Reserve, examining how the people who work there aim to balance the value of the dollar to prevent inflation or deflation. Price Controls, Subsidies, and the Risks of Good Intentions: Crash Course Economics #20

10:15
So, during times of inflation or deflation, why doesn't the government just set prices? It sounds reasonable, but price ceilings or floors just don't work. Adriene and Jacob explain why. Subsidies, however, are a little different, and sometimes they even work. We'll also explain that. Today you'll learn about stuff like price controls, deadweight loss, subsidies, and efficiency. What's all the Yellen About? Monetary Policy and the Federal Reserve: Crash Course Economics #10

09:25
This week on Crash Course Economics, we're talking about monetary policy. The reality of the world is that the United States (and most of the world's economies) are, to varying degrees, Keynesian. When things go wrong, economically, the central bank of the country intervenes to try aand get things back on track. In the United States, the Federal Reserve is the organization that steps in to use monetary policy to steer the economy. When the Fed, as it's called, does step in, there are a few different tacks it can take. The Fed can change interest rates, or it can change the money supply. This is pretty interesting stuff, and it's what we're getting into today. Crash Course is on Patreon! Money and Finance: Crash Course Economics #11

10:36
So, we've been putting off a kind of basic question here. What is money? What is currency? How are the two different. Well, not to give away too much, but money has a few basic functions. It acts as a store of value, a medium of exchange, and as a unit of account. Money isn't just bills and coins. It can be anything that meets these three criteria. In US prisons, apparently, pouches of Mackerel are currency. Yes, mackerel the fish. Paper and coins work as money because they're backed by the government, which is an advantage over mackerel. So, once you've got money, you need finance. We'll talk about borrowing, lending, interest, and stocks and bonds. Also, this episode features a giant zucchini, which Adriene grew in her garden. So that's cool. This lesson will illustrate how trade flows should lead to appreciation and depreciation of currencies in a floating exchange rate system, and then explain how in the case of China, central bank policy aimed at buying large quantities of US government debt keeps the supply of Chinese currency high in the US and the demand for US dollars high in China. This means the dollar remains stronger than it otherwise might relative to the Chinese RMB, contributing to the persistent trade deficits the US exhibits in its trade with China. Monetary and Fiscal Policy: Crash Course Government and Politics #48

09:19
Today, Craig is going to dive into the controversy of monetary and fiscal policy. Monetary and fiscal policy are ways the government, and most notably the Federal Reserve, influences the economy - for better or for worse. So we’re going to start by looking at monetary policy, and specifically how the Federal Reserve uses interests rates as a means of controlling (or at least attempting to control) inflation. We’ll then move onto fiscal policy - that is the government’s use of taxation to raise and spend money. It’s all, well, pretty controversial, but as it seems Americans hate taxes the most, monetary policy is most often used - meaning that the Federal Reserve plays a hugely significant role in steering the U.S. economy.
