9 Things You Shouldn't Do on an Empty Stomach
9 important things you should avoid doing on an empty stomach. And by “empty stomach” we mean no less than two hours after your last meal. “You are what you eat” is a statement known to everyone. But do you know that what we do before a meal also has a great impact on our health? Also, we have a bonus: what you should eat when you're really hungry. Stay healthy! TIMESTAMPS Taking anti-inflammatories 0:49 Drinking coffee 1:48 Drinking alcohol 2:49 Chewing gum 3:45 Going to bed 4:52 Intense training 5:55 Shopping 6:50 Drinking citrus juice 7:47 Arguing 8:49 SUMMARY What you can do when you’re hungry. Well, there are at least two things that you should on an empty stomach. 1. Solve problems. Your ability to concentrate reduces when you’re hungry. According to research, this is the legacy of our early ancestors who had to focus all their efforts to get food. The hunger hormone also helps to perform various tasks, stimulating the brain activity. 2. Make choices. If you can’t decide on what to choose, try doing it on an empty stomach. Research shows that hunger leads people into more successful, even though more impulsive, decisions. Of course, you’d better not use this method when matters of finances, relationships, or health are at stake. STANDING vs SITTING: Sitting is the New Smoking!
Standing vs Sitting is a new health issue. Sitting all day can be dangerous. http://www.juststand.org/Portals/3/images/JustStandInfoGraphicV3.png The 2010 American Cancer Society study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology followed 123,216 individuals 69,776 woman and 53,440 men from 1993 to 2016. The alarming results: People who were inactive and sat over 6 hours a day were 94% more likely to die during the time period studied than those who were physically active and sat less than 3 hours a day. Findings were independent of physical activity levels the negative effects of sitting were just as strong in people who exercised regularly. A January 2008 British Journal of Sports Medicine article suggests that people who sit for long periods of time have an increased risk of disease. Results were presented 2015 at the World Diabetes Congress 2015 by Joseph Henson, MD, of the Diabetes Research Centre, University of Leicester, United Kingdom, and were published online simultaneously in Diabetes Care.Study subjects were 30 postmenopausal women with impaired glucose tolerance. One group was randomized to simply sit still for 7.5 hours straight lavatory visits were made via wheelchair, while a second group stood for 5 minutes every 30 minutes, and a third group walked on a treadmill for 5 minutes every 30 minutes total 6.5 hours sitting and 1 hour standing or walking. On day 2, those who had interrupted their sitting with standing on day 1 had a 19% reduction in postprandial glucose levels compared with those who had been sitting on day 1. Dr Henson noted that results of previous studies of breaking up sitting time in overweight and obese adults have also demonstrated benefit and suggest that the same effect would likely be seen among other populations in addition to postmenopausal women with prediabetes. English Grammar: MUST & HAVE TO
Do we say "I must do my homework" or "I have to do my homework"? In English, we use "must" and "have to" to express a strong rule or law. In this grammar lesson, I will teach you about the modal verbs "must" and "have to" in both their negative and positive forms. In the positive form, their function is the same, but their subject-verb agreement is different. In the negative form, we use "don't have to" to talk about options or advice. You must watch the video to get the full explanation with examples. You don't have to do the quiz, but I strongly recommend you do: https://www.engvid.com/english-grammar-must-have-to/ #engvid #LearnEnglish #EnglishGrammar Next, watch this video about a very common mistake in English, forgetting to use the 's': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf861z0MuMc&index=45&list=PLpLRk365gbPaY0U_9zYYRY5JmStMZ9NSI TRANSCRIPT You must watch this lesson. You just have to watch this lesson. It's really important, because it'll help you, and it's confusing in English. Actually, you don't have to watch this lesson, if you don't want to; it's your choice, but you've already clicked on it, so let's continue. I'm going to explain to you two modal verbs that are really confusing in English because the positive and the negative have different meanings. Let's start with the first one and the easiest one. You guys have learned this, I'm sure before, if you studied grammar; or if you haven't studied grammar, you guys maybe have even heard about this. It's confusing. So, what I'm going to teach you today is the difference between the modals: "must" and "have to". In the positive, "must" and "have to" have the exact same meaning or the exact same function. When we use this grammar... It's grammar. When we use this grammar, "must" you can think about it like a law or a rule. Okay? Something that is very, very, very important; basically, if you don't do it, there will be bad things that will happen. So: "must" and "have to" we both use for very strong rules or laws. So, I want you to think about in your daily life. Or I'll give you an example of travelling. So you're going to get on an airplane, so you go to the airport. What are some things you must have to get on the airplane? One, you must have-or you have to have-an airplane ticket. If you don't have an airplane ticket, you're not going to get on that airplane, so you buy one. The second thing that you must have-or you have to have-is a passport or some kind of legal ID; depending on where you are travelling to. If you're flying internationally to a different country, you definitely have to have-or must have-a passport. It's important to have money. You must have some money, or you have to have some money. How are you going to live? How are you...? You got money. Okay. So: "must" and "have to" in the positive form are exactly the same. I don't care what anyone else has told you before; I don't care what your grammar books tell you; I don't care what your mom tells you - "must" and "have to" in the positive are completely equal. We don't make a difference. You have to do this or you must do this - the ending is the same. It's a rule or a law; if you don't do it, there's going to be some problems or you just won't be accepted. Can you think of an example in your life that you have rule or a law that you must or have to do? Good. Okay. Let's look at also the grammar of "have to". So, "must" is very easy. It's going to be subject plus "must" plus your base verb. This is called a modal verb, which is "must". So, for example: Subject plus "must" plus your base verb. "I must have a ticket to get on that airplane." If I don't have a ticket, I can't get on the airplane. But when we use "have to", we have to be very, very careful or we must be careful with our subject and our verb agreement. So, if you have: "He", "She" or "It", we have to say: "has to"; but if you use: "I", "We", "They", or "You", we have to say or we must say: "have to". So: "It has to be great.", "We have to go now; it's very important." So, be careful with our grammar. The "must" one is easier. So, if you're deciding on which one you like better - choose "must" because you don't have to worry about the subject and the verb agreement. But again, they are not different. "Must" and "have to" are exactly the same. The structure is different, but the function or the way we use it is exactly the same. You choose which one you like the most. The negative of "must not" is basically telling us a rule in the negative. For example, you can say: "On the airplane, you must not smoke." This is a very, very strict law or rule on any airplane in any country of the world that smoking is prohibited; you can't do it. If you do it, you will get arrested which means you'll go to jail. I don't know if you go to jail, but definitely the police will come and you have to pay a lot of money, so don't do it. […]

Speaking English: How to say P, F, B, V
http://www.engvid.com/ Do you want to sound like a native speaker? Practice your pronunciation with me! P, F, B, and V can be difficult to pronounce, especially since some languages do not have these exact sounds in their alphabet. In this lesson I will teach you how to easily start pronouncing these letters correctly. You'll also learn the difference between voiced and unvoiced letters. Improve your pronunciation of English words with me, Ronnie! http://www.engvid.com/speaking-english-p-f-b-v/ TRANSCRIPT Welcome to the pronunciation lesson with Ronnie. That took me a bit, but I've gotten it now. Today, I'm going to teach you the differences between one, two, three, four letters in English that are very difficult. But after you hear and see this lesson, it's going to be a lot easier for you. Again, with most letter sounds in English, the reason why it's so difficult is because in your language, maybe you do not have this sound at all. Or the sounds in your languages are very, very similar. So instead of saying a P, it's a mix between a P and an F. So let's go through one thing that's very, very important when you're learning any word that you're going to say, and it is what I've written in blue here: unvoiced and voiced. Do you know what the difference is between "unvoiced" and "voiced"? I will teach you. What you've to do is you have to put your hand on your throat. Not too hard. Don't kill yourselves. And you're going to make this sound. Just the letter. You're going to "puh, puh, puh." Now, when you make the "puh" sound, you've to be careful of two things. The first one is your mouth. What is your mouth doing? Okay? When you make the P sound, your lips have to go together and blow out like you're smoking. So it's "puh, puh". Okay? I like to call this "kiss mouth". So when you make a kiss mouth, it's like you're going to kiss someone. You go, "puh". Or you can call it a "smoking mouth". It doesn't matter. When you are saying the P sound, you're going to make your kiss mouth, "puh"; you're going to put your hand on your throat; and you're going to realize that your throat or your vocal cords do not vibrate. So try. "Puh, puh". You should not feel any vibration in your throat. This non-vibration is called "unvoiced". So if something is "unvoiced", it means it does not vibrate in your throat. So "unvoiced" means no vibration. Okay? So the P sound is a kiss with no vibration. Let's look at an example of a "voiced" letter. We're going to make the same mouth style, and we're going to blow a kiss or a smoke. But the difference between the P "puh" and the B, is that when we make the B sound, you have to vibrate your throat or your vocal cords. So you have to go "buh, buh, buh". Your lips are making the same movement, but the vocal cords are going to vibrate. So try this. "Buh, buh, buh." Then, if you do it without voicing it, it's "puh, puh, puh". So your lips are making the same movement, but your vocal cords vibrate and do not vibrate. So if it's voiced, it means that your vocal cords vibrate. The next letter that a lot of people have problems with is the F. Now, when I make the F sound -- "fff, fff" -- I need to do something very important. I need to take my teeth and stick them out over my bottom lip. I like to call these "beaver teeth". Have you ever seen a beaver? Do beavers have teeth? Sometimes, the animal beaver has teeth. And beavers have very predominant -- very big front teeth because they chew trees. So when I say "beaver teeth", I mean you stick your teeth out like a beaver. Okay? So this sound is very different from the P and the B sound because first of all, your mouth is making a different position. So when you make the F sound, your teeth are out, and it is unvoiced. So again, you're going to put your hand on your throat and go "fff". The air is going to come out at the bottom of your teeth between your bottom lip and your top teeth. So it's "fff". It feels like you're pushing the air down. "Fff." With the P and the B, you're pushing the air out like you're smoking. With the F, the air is going down. So try. "Fff, fff, fff." When we say the V sound or the "vuh", again, we're going to have beaver teeth. So you're going to stick your teeth out, except this time, it is voiced. So like the F sound, same mouth position, but you must vibrate your vocal cords. So it's "vuh, vuh, vuh." This is rather difficult, so I suggest you practice. "Vuh, vuh, vuh." It might take a little bit of time and a little bit of practice for you to get it. But the important thing for you to understand is that F does not vibrate, and "vuh" vibrates. So a lot of people maybe have problems with the B and the F, okay? So you've to look at this. The B is a kiss mouth, "buh, buh". And the F is a beaver mouth, and it's "fff, fff".

Vocabulary: How to talk about ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES
http://www.engvid.com/ In English, we often need to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of something. You will definitely need to do this at work, on tests such as the IELTS and TOEFL, and also in everyday conversation. In this lesson, you will learn words that have the same meaning as "advantage" and "disadvantage", such as "drawback", "downside", "positive aspect", "benefit", and many more. After watching, take our quiz to make sure you understood. There are many advantages to watching this video! Come and improve your vocabulary by learning these synonyms in a very short time. http://www.engvid.com/vocabulary-advantages-disadvantages/ TRANSCRIPT Hi, there. My name is Emma, and in today's video, I am going to teach you some new words. I'm going to teach you some words that mean "good" or "advantage" and some words that mean "bad" or "disadvantage". Now, these words are very, very important if you are planning on writing the TOEFL test, the IELTS test, if you plan to go to university or college, or just for general conversation. Okay? So it's very important you learn multiple ways to talk about advantages and disadvantages. Okay. So let's get started. First of all, I would like to teach you some synonyms of the word "advantage". Okay? And maybe, we can work on your pronunciation. You can repeat after me as I say each word. So my first word here is "advantage", which most of you probably know. It means -- similar to "good". "An advantage of living in Toronto is you get to meet people from all over the word." Okay? So it's a good thing. Similarly, a "benefit" is another good thing. It has the same meaning as the word "advantage". "A benefit of living in Toronto is you get to eat food from all over the word." Another word we could say is "is positive aspect". "A positive aspect of living in Toronto is you get to visit the CN tower, which is a very interesting building." "A good point about living in Toronto is we have a great transportation system." For those of you who live in Toronto, you might think of that as a joke. Okay. "An argument in favor of living in Toronto is the people here are very polite and friendly." Okay? So these are all considered good things about living in Toronto. We can use all of these words to describe the things we love about Toronto. Okay? So I want you to take a moment to think about your city or your village or your town. What could you say that's about it about where you live? Can you think of an advantage, a benefit, a positive aspect, a good point, an argument in favor of where you live? Okay? So now, let's look at some of the bad things, the disadvantages. Okay? So the first word we'll use is "disadvantage". Let's think about living in a city in general. "A disadvantage of living in a city is -- maybe it's very busy." Maybe it's very noisy. Okay? So these are problems with living in a city. "A drawback of living in a city" -- again, you could say it's crowded. There's too much pollution. These are drawbacks. Some people have an objection to living in a city. Maybe there's not enough green space; there's not enough environment living in a city. "A negative effect of living in a city is -- maybe you feel stressed out." Maybe you have a lot of stress because of all the noise. "A downside of living in a city is -- maybe, you know, you're not getting fresh air because of the pollution." "A frequent criticism of living in a city is, again -- maybe it takes a very long time to get anywhere if you live in a very big city." Maybe there's a bad transportation system. So this might be a frequent criticism. Now, for this word specifically, I really want to work on the pronunciation because of this "ism". I know a lot of students from Brazil, a lot of students from South America, Central America, and Europe pronounce this a little bit differently than we do in English. So we would say "criticism". Okay. Can you say that? "Criticism". Okay? So this actually almost becomes like "izum". Okay? So that would be a frequent criticism. Finally, we can also talk about "an argument against". "An argument against living in the city is -- maybe you can't have farm animals." Maybe you love chickens and hens and pigs, but in the city, you can't have them. Okay? So these are all disadvantages of living in a city or disadvantage words. Whereas these are all advantage words. Okay. So let's do a couple of practices with you. I want you to fill in this blank spot with one of these words. Okay? So let's start with positive. So I want you to say this out loud. So pick one of these. "Blank -- of living in a city is it's exciting." "A good point of living in a city is it's exciting." "A benefit of living in a city is it's exciting." Okay?

Lao NEWS on LNTV: Tobacco co. to display graphic health warnings on cigarette packets
VO The government will soon require tobacco companies to display graphic health warnings on cigarette packets INTRO: The government will soon require tobacco companies to display graphic health warnings on cigarette packets in the hope of reducing the number of deaths from smoking-related illnesses. STORY: Director General of the Hygiene and Health Promotion Department under the Ministry of Health, Dr Phath Keungsaneth, spoke to the media on Wednesday at a meeting to build understanding of Articles 37 and 38 of the Law on Tobacco Control. He said, Tobacco companies will need to display these warnings relaying information on the dangers of smoking by October of this year. According to him, Laos is still finding it difficult to implement health and legal policies to further reduce smoking in the country due to the influence of the tobacco industry The graphic health warning on cigarette packets required described in Article 37 is very important for communicating information to people who cannot read. They can now see and understand some of the dangers of smoking (Insert) He added that new smoke-free areas will also have No Smoking signs displayed, in line with Article 38. Smoke-free areas have been updated to include airports, bars and pubs, coffee shops, government offices, health venues, hotels, restaurants, religious sites, public transport, shopping malls, universities, and workplaces. (Text) Dr Phath Keungsaneth said, We are proud to see a decrease in the smoking rate, which we attribute to an effective tobacco control programme and the Law on Tobacco Control in Laos,” Adding that, Tobacco control is important for non-communicable disease prevention and health promotion and the government considers it a top priority along with communicable disease control (Insert) According to the ministry, up until recently almost 40 percent of the Lao population smoked but today surveys show that number to be lower at 29 percent. Articles 37 and 38 of the Law on Tobacco Control indicate that more Lao people are starting to understand the dangers of tobacco. (Insert) The WHO estimates that tobacco kills about six million people each year and causes more than half a trillion dollars of economic damage globally. It is estimated that tobacco could kill as many as one billion people this century if the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control is not implemented immediately.

10 Times Prince Harry EMBARRASSED The Royal Family
10 Most Innapropriate Prince Harry Moments. Subscribe: https://goo.gl/Hnoaw3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some people say that the royals are like celebrities. In a way, they are. We watch them in the same way. But the British royals aren’t allowed to make mistakes like regular celebrities. They are supposed to be examples for all of the United Kingdom. But Prince Harry hasn’t always lived up to his title. Here are 10 of the Most Inappropriate Prince Harry Moments. Take his drinking for instance. Lots of people like to have a few drinks now and then, but Harry was drinking before he was of legal age. By the time he was 17, his father put him in rehab for his alcohol and drug use. Rehab is probably the last place anyone would expect to find a prince. He also dressed up as a German WWII Soldier for a costume party one year. After the pictures surfaced, the prince started receiving lots of backlash for his insensitive costume. He immediately apologized for offending anyone. The prince has also been accused of being cruel to animals. At a polo match, it appeared that his horse had been hurt and was bleeding. Several people who were at the match claim that the prince continued to ride the horse, even after it was hurt. Reps for the prince say that once he noticed the condition of the horse, he sat out the rest of the match. No official reports of what happened have been released. Whether it’s his all-night partying, his risque photos, or his bad boy past, there have been a lot of moments in Prince Harry’s life that are just not very princely. Stay tuned to 10 Most Inappropriate Prince Harry Moments to see why one teacher accused him of cheating his way through school. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheTalko Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetalko Instagram: https://instagram.com/the_talko ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thetalko.com/

DESTROY YOUR VOICE in 5 easy steps! | Singing habits to AVOID | #DrDan 🎤
Bad singing habits to AVOID! Looking for singing tips on how to sing? You’ve heard it said that your body is a temple…well in the case of the singer that old saying translates into, “Your instrument is a temple!” If you don’t look after your voice it simply won’t perform at its optimum. -- FREE DOWNLOAD -- Download Dr Dan's first singing exercise track for FREE: http://drdan.co/exerciseCD 1:06 Eat, Drink and be Merry If you’re looking to improve your voice then the first thing you need to do is treat your body the same way a professional athlete treat’s theirs. You are a vocal athlete! This means that everything you do will have an impact on your voice. 2:01 Choose the Wrong Singing Teacher Every professional athlete has a coach someone to observe, instruct and correct. Singers are no different. We need someone who can watch, listen and provide feedback for the refinement of our voice. This being said, it’s really important that you choose the right singing teacher for you. 3:14 Sing when you are Sick Singing while you’re sick is simply not worth the risk to your vocal health. Please heed this warning: you can do significant damage to your voice during one set of songs – especially if the health of the voice is already compromised due to general illness. 4:26 Deny you have a vocal problem Raspiness, inconsistent tone, an inability to maintain pitch, and reduced vocal stamina are all signs that your voice has been compromised. This doesn’t necessarily mean that your voice has sustained damage of a pathological nature. Sure, you might have nodules, a vocal fold cyst or a contact granuloma, but it could equally be a functional issue requiring simple instruction on how to operate your voice more efficiently. 5:29 Don't look after your Ears We spend a lot of time as singers worrying about the health of our larynx. We should pay equal attention to the health of our ears. Let’s face it, if you can’t hear well your singing is going to become a darn sight harder. 6:42 Habitually Clear Your Throat When you get into the poor habit of slamming your vocal folds together every few minutes the vocal folds respond by swelling in order to cushion and protect themselves from the repetitive impact. You already know that swollen vocal folds is not a good thing and adds to general wear and tear of the voice. If you want to look after your voice…stop all that throat clearing and replace it with a simple swallow instead. –––––––––––––––––––––––– Welcome to Voice Essentials where everybody sings.
