What is PRIVATE BANKING? What does PRIVATE BANKING mean? PRIVATE BANKING meaning - PRIVATE BANKING definition - PRIVATE BANKING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Private banking is banking, investment and other financial services provided by banks to high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) with high levels of income or sizable assets. The term "private" refers to customer service rendered on a more personal basis than in mass-market retail banking, usually via dedicated bank advisers. It does not refer to a private bank, which is a non-incorporated banking institution. Private banking forms a more exclusive (for the especially affluent) subset of wealth management. At least until recently, it largely consisted of banking services (deposit taking and payments), discretionary asset management, brokerage, limited tax advisory services and some basic concierge-type services, offered by a single designated relationship manager.

Private Equity: Industry Overview and Careers in Private Equity
The Private Equity industry as we know it today is significantly larger compared to what it used to be 20 years ago. Nowadays pension funds, investment banks and high-net-worth individuals invest their money in private equity funds. The main idea is to use the money in order to acquire private or public companies, develop and improve their business, and then resell it at a considerable profit, given that the typical investment horizon ranges between 5 and 10 years. Private equity investments are risky, very illiquid and investors expect a significantly higher return compared to some of the other asset classes. Private Equity is one of the most desired career paths in the world of Business and Finance. Several years ago very few, if any, of the PE funds were hiring without relevant work experience. Today, it appears that more funds are willing to hire people with less experience. It is not rare to see intern and analyst openings within PE funds. However, if you’ve worked a couple of years in investment banking, consulting, or financial advisory, your chances of being hired increase significantly. Salaries vary based on the firm size and the country that you are located in, but they are generally 10-20% higher than the ones of investment banker analysts and associates with the same number of years of experience. What does WEALTH MANAGEMENT mean? WEALTH MANAGEMENT meaning - WEALTH MANAGEMENT definition - WEALTH MANAGEMENT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Wealth management as an investment-advisory discipline which incorporates financial planning, investment portfolio management and a number of aggregated financial services. High-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), small-business owners and families who desire the assistance of a credentialed financial advisory specialist call upon wealth managers to coordinate retail banking, estate planning, legal resources, tax professionals and investment management. Wealth managers can have backgrounds as independent Chartered Financial Consultants, Certified Financial Planners or Chartered Financial Analysts (in the United States), Chartered Strategic Wealth Professionals (in Canada), Chartered Financial Planners (in the UK), or any credentialed (such as MBA) professional money managers who work to enhance the income, growth and tax-favored treatment of long-term investors. Private wealth management is delivered to high-net-worth investors. Generally this includes advice on the use of various estate planning vehicles, business-succession or stock-option planning, and the occasional use of hedging derivatives for large blocks of stock. Traditionally, the wealthiest retail clients of investment firms demanded a greater level of service, product offering and sales personnel than that received by average clients. With an increase in the number of affluent investors in recent years, there has been an increasing demand for sophisticated financial solutions and expertise throughout the world. The CFA Institute curriculum on private-wealth management indicates that two primary factors distinguish the issues facing individual investors from those facing institutions: 1. Time horizons differ. Individuals face a finite life as compared to the theoretically/potentially infinite life of institutions. This fact requires strategies for transferring assets at the end of an individual's life. These transfers are subject to laws and regulations that vary by locality and therefore the strategies available to address this situation vary. This is commonly known as accumulation and decumulation. 2. Individuals are more likely to face a variety of taxes on investment returns that vary by locality. Portfolio investment techniques that provide individuals with after tax returns that meet their objectives must address such taxes. The term "wealth management" occurs at least as early as 1933. It came into more general use in the elite retail (or "Private Client") divisions of firms such as Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley (before the Dean Witter Reynolds merger of 1997), to distinguish those divisions' services from mass-market offerings, but has since spread throughout the financial-services industry. Family offices that had formerly served just one family opened their doors to other families, and the term Multi-family office was coined. Accounting firms and investment advisory boutiques created multi-family offices as well. Certain larger firms (UBS, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch) have "tiered" their platforms – with separate branch systems and advisor-training programs, distinguishing "Private Wealth Management" from "Wealth Management", with the latter term denoting the same type of services but with a lower degree of customization and delivered to mass affluent clients. At Morgan Stanley, the "Private Wealth Management" retail division focuses on serving clients with greater than $20 million in investment assets while "Global Wealth Management" focuses on accounts smaller than $10 million. In the late 1980s, private banks and brokerage firms began to offer seminars and client events designed to showcase the expertise and capabilities of the sponsoring firm. Within a few years a new business model emerged – Family Office Exchange in 1990, the Institute for Private Investors in 1991, and CCC Alliance in 1995. These companies aimed to offer an online community as well as a network of peers for ultra high-net-worth individuals and their families. These entities have grown since the 1990s, with total IT spending (for example) by the global wealth management industry predicted to reach $35bn by 2016, including heavy investment in digital channels.

Asset Management: Industry Overview and Careers in Asset Management
Asset Management: Industry overview and Careers in Asset Management Asset Management is about managing clients’ investments and providing them with the strategies and expertise that would allow them to achieve their goals and secure their financial future. This video is part of our series dedicated to the different sub-industries in the world of Business & Finance. Our goal is to understand how it functions, what type of services it offers its clients, which are the major players in the field and what it is like to do this for a living. An individual or an institution is likely to approach an asset management firm when their investment income is substantial. In such cases, asset managers are able to offer expertise across a wide spectrum of asset classes (such as stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate, private equity, etc). Moreover, large firms have branches all over the world and are therefore able to offer geographical expertise as well. Given that asset managers closely follow all of these markets, they are able to offer high-quality advice and superior risk-return investments. The large players in the asset management industry are indeed very large. There are several companies whose assets under management exceed $1 trillion. Some of them are pure investment funds (BlackRock, Vanguard, StateStreet, Fidelity), while others are arms of the large banking conglomerates (Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, UBS, BNP). The largest firm in the world in terms of assets under management in 2015 was BlackRock. VMware Customer case study: Bank Audi (Full version)
Based in Beirut, Bank Audi is the leading commercial bank in Lebanon and one of the fastest growing banks in the region. With a sizable presence in Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, France, and Switzerland, Bank Audi offers a full range of products and services that cover commercial and corporate banking, retail and individual banking, on-line brokerage, private banking, and investment banking. Danny Dagher, CIO of Bank Audi talks about the IT challenges the bank faced prior to its IT transformation project. They wanted to be able to treat IT as a business, to enable the bank to grow, but to support continued growth and a diversifying mix of customers and banking services required greater agility. Their IT transformation happened in 2 phases, phase one was infrastructure transformation via virtualization and cloud automation and phase two was expansion of their virtualization and additional automated cloud operations capabilities. IT is now able to serve as a true service broker for business initiatives and has become a revenue generating entity. "Our service delivery model now incorporates the key strategic elements from VMware. We can run our own business more efficiently, so we can help our constituents run their businesses more efficiently, with transparency over their costs and revenues. They can now accelerate their business initiatives, from launching new products to improving productivity." - Danny Dagher, Chief Information Officer To learn more: Visit our website: https://www.vmware.com/products/vcloud-suite.html?src=so_599cb2b8c6d48&cid=70134000001CZ9b Test-drive with a Hands-on Lab: https://my.vmware.com/en/web/vmware/evalcenter?p=vrealize-nsx-17-hol&src=so_599cacbe8fca5&cid=70134000001CaqB

How to Start A Bank
If you want to start a bank, this video can help you. The banking business is one of the most profitable in the world. You have depositors, on one hand, depositing money in your institution. On the other hand, you can charge bank fees and you can lend out a certain portion of that money and earn interest. The important thing is to make sure that the actions you take are safe and comply with the law. In the banking business if you have a choice between two investment, one with high return and high risk and one with a low to medium return and low risk you choose the low risk option. The world’s richest investor, Warren Buffett owns a large percentage of Wells Fargo bank. He says the reason most people lose money is they want to earn money quickly. He says, the thing is - I don’t know how to do it. Everyone else wants to earn money quickly. I’m satisfied with earning it slowly. If one of the world’s wealthiest men say that, for someone who seeks wealth, the principle of earning money slowly, safely and steadily is something that we can all take to heart….especially in the banking business. Okay, so what do you do to start a bank. The first step is to choose your jurisdiction. Now, to form a US bank need about $15 to 30 million in capital to get started. That is not an expense. That is your cushion that you need to deposit so that you have something to fall back on during the ebbs and flows of profitability. In many other countries however, you only need $500,000 to $1 million. Keep in mind, this does not have to be YOUR money. You can RAISE this money after you form your corporation. So, none of it has to come out of your own pocket. Some of the recommended jurisdictions in which to form a bank as of this recording is the country of Dominica, where a bank needs $1 million of capitalization. In St. Vincent, you only need $500,000 of capitalization as of the current regulations for a class B Bank. A Class A banking license generally means you can serve any viable client, including local citizens of that country. A Class B bank means you can accept clients worldwide except from within that jurisdiction. So, at this moment in time we like St. Vincent class B license as the place to start a new bank. Step #2 is to form a corporation in the jurisdiction where you want to start a bank. Form a corporation. First we form a corporation without the word Bank in the name. Then we get a banking license. Then we amend the name to include the word “bank.” You can call us to form the corporation for you right now at 1-800-959-8819 or +1-661-310-2929. We can also provide an address in the region - for your company to comply with initial requirements. Keep in mind - if you are not willing to invest a few thousand to form a corporation and physical address, it is going to be difficult to find people who will want to invest hundreds of thousands or millions to help you start your bank. So, before calling and asking us questions, at least be prepared to form your corporation - because that is the minimum first step. If we have formed a corporation for you, we can offer a free consultation to help you get your bank started. If you are not ready to form a corporation then wait until you are before you give us a call. What was happening is we were getting way too many calls from people who were merely curious. So, because of time constraints we really need to concentrate our efforts on the serious. So if you are serious and want to start your banking corporation give us a call, we are glad to help. Step #3 Is to complete the banking application and provide your due diligence. The banking industry deals with other people’s money so it is very highly regulated. You will need to be transparent and provide full documented proof of your identity. The regulators will run a full background check on you to make sure  you have a clean track record. It is also recommended that you have people on your board of directors who have banking experience. We can help provide those people and make suggestions as to where they can be found. The cost for the license fee and legal fees are going to be over $100,000. Again, this does not have to come out of your pocket but out of the pockets of your investors. Step #4 is an optional step. If you already have sufficient capital, you will provide proof of funds by proving that you have liquid, that is liquid capital that you have access to immediately. If it is not immediately liquid on the day that you apply or soon thereafter it doesn’t count. If not, you will raise capital from investors. Investors will pool their money together to provide you sufficient cushion to acquire your banking license. Step #5 Is that we find you a location to start your bank along with local personnel to help you operate it. Usually you will need at least two or more local employees to meet the regulations. Again, we can help you find your location as well as your initial employees.

Nevertheless, they continue to be seen as one of the prime destinations for talented Business and Finance graduates, given the excitement of working on large deals and the high pay scale that comes with this job. Investment banking operations tend to be more sophisticated than traditional “deposit taking, credit giving” retail banking services. Investment banks work closely with corporate clients, pension funds, financial sponsors and governments to structure and execute some of the largest transactions that we see in the news. Chase Bank Closes My Business Account after Selling Bitcoin with Cash Payments!
What a surprise today to logon and find my Chase Bank platinum business banking account closed after selling Bitcoin using Coinbase at http://jerry.tips/coinbjb to buy and Wall of coins to sell with cash deposits! The CRAZIEST part is that they refused to provide a reason! Customer support said “We are unable to give you a reason why we restricted your account, suspended your online access, and are closing it within 10 days AND no one else at Chase will be able to provide you with an explanation.” Thankfully I see the positive in that this account was costing me $95 a month which I will no longer have to pay and it also saves me the time for selling Bitcoin. If I had to guess why they closed the account, my guess is that they did not like my $10,000+ in CASH deposits at locations around the USA in February 2017 from Wall of Coins Bitcoin buyers paying cash for BTC. If that did not trigger them to flag the account, it might have been my $20,000+ in withdrawals to Coinbase to buy more Bitcoin to send back to WOC. When combining all of these together, I can imagine how a teller or branch manager might have got all excited and alerted the fraud department. I felt so good about helping cash buyers get their Bitcoin and making a 10% commission in doing so that I made an online video course about it at http://skl.sh/2llwqa3 which I am guessing the JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A. representative that closed my account did not watch. I hope in sharing my experience getting my 4 year old business banking account closed with Chase and having my online access suspended is helpful for you if the same happen to you or if you are considering following what I teach in my class! The founder of Wall of Coins advised me to not take payments larger than $200 as deposits because of the risk of accounts being restricted but as you can guess I did not listen to that and accepted a $2,500 payment into my Chase account just two days ago for Bitcoin which cost me around $2,300 to buy. Maybe smaller transactions would help or maybe a different bank or maybe buying on a different exchange! Whatever happened, I am grateful today to not let my happiness be interrupted by this small inconvenience and to be willing to share the results with you as the list of websites and accounts I have been banned grows by one more! Credit Suisse Plans to Sell U.S. Private Bank: Newspaper
Credit Suisse Group intends to sell its U.S. private bank and slash its prime brokerage business under a strategy being developed by new Chief Executive Tidjane Thiam, Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag reported on Sunday. Results will be presented to the bank's board in early October of a strategic review announced in July, earlier than first envisaged to give markets time to absorb news of a planned capital increase, the newspaper said, citing anonymous sources. A spokesman for Switzerland's second-biggest bank declined comment on the report. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/qMpahu8uc7E/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

Economic Conditions, Financial Services & Industry Banking Regulations (1987)
Financial services are the economic services provided by the finance industry, which encompasses a broad range of organizations that manage money, including credit unions, banks, credit card companies, insurance companies, accountancy companies, consumer finance companies, stock brokerages, investment funds, real estate funds and some government sponsored enterprises. As of 2004, the financial services industry represented 20% of the market capitalization of the S&P 500 in the United States. The U.S. finance industry comprised only 10% of total non-farm business profits in 1947, but it grew to 50% by 2010. Over the same period, finance industry income as a proportion of GDP rose from 2.5% to 7.5%, and the finance industry's proportion of all corporate income rose from 10% to 20%. Asset management - the term usually given to describe companies which run collective investment funds. Also refers to services provided by others, generally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as Registered Investment Advisors. Investment banking financial services focus on creating capital through client investments. Hedge fund management - Hedge funds often employ the services of "prime brokerage" divisions at major investment banks to execute their trades. Custody services - the safe-keeping and processing of the world's securities trades and servicing the associated portfolios. Assets under custody in the world are approximately US$100 trillion. Insurance brokerage - Insurance brokers shop for insurance (generally corporate property and casualty insurance) on behalf of customers. Recently a number of websites have been created to give consumers basic price comparisons for services such as insurance, causing controversy within the industry.[5] Insurance underwriting - Personal lines insurance underwriters actually underwrite insurance for individuals, a service still offered primarily through agents, insurance brokers, and stock brokers. Underwriters may also offer similar commercial lines of coverage for businesses. Activities include insurance and annuities, life insurance, retirement insurance, health insurance, and property & casualty insurance. F&I - Finance & Insurance, a service still offered primarily at asset dealerships. The F&I manager encompasses the financing and insuring of the asset which is sold by the dealer. F&I is often called "the second gross" in dealerships who have adopted the model Reinsurance - Reinsurance is insurance sold to insurers themselves, to protect them from catastrophic losses. Bank cards - include both credit cards and debit cards.According to the Nilson Report, Bank Of America is the largest issuer of bank cards. Credit card machine services and networks - Companies which provide credit card machine and payment networks call themselves "merchant card providers". Intermediation or advisory services - These services involve stock brokers (private client services) and discount brokers. Stock brokers assist investors in buying or selling shares. Primarily internet-based companies are often referred to as discount brokerages, although many now have branch offices to assist clients. These brokerages primarily target individual investors. Full service and private client firms primarily assist and execute trades for clients with large amounts of capital to invest, such as large companies, wealthy individuals, and investment management funds. Private equity - Private equity funds are typically closed-end funds, which usually take controlling equity stakes in businesses that are either private, or taken private once acquired. Private equity funds often use leveraged buyouts (LBOs) to acquire the firms in which they invest. The most successful private equity funds can generate returns significantly higher than provided by the equity markets Venture capital is a type of private equity capital typically provided by professional, outside investors to new, high-growth-potential companies in the interest of taking the company to an IPO or trade sale of the business. Angel investment - An angel investor or angel (known as a business angel or informal investor in Europe), is an affluent individual who provides capital for a business start-up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity. A small but increasing number of angel investors organize themselves into angel groups or angel networks to share resources and pool their investment capital. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_services

A warning about Robinhood's 3% Checking Account…
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is…but does that apply to Robinhood’s new 3% Checking and Savings accounts? After reading the fine print, here’s what you need to know. Enjoy! Add me on Snapchat/Instagram: GPStephan Join Robinhood and get a FREE STOCK: https://share.robinhood.com/jaronl43 Join the private Real Estate Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/therealestatemillionairemastermind/ GET $50 OFF FOR A LIMITED TIME WITH COUPON CODE: THANKYOU50 The Real Estate Agent Academy: Learn how to start and grow your career as a Real Estate Agent to a Six-Figure Income, how to best build your network of clients, expand into luxury markets, and the exact steps I’ve used to grow my business from $0 to over $125 million in sales: https://goo.gl/UFpi4c Robinhood just announced that it will now be offering a 3% Interest Rate on their Checking and Savings accounts to begin in 2019. What makes this an amazing offer is that “Robinhood Checking & Savings accounts come with no fees, minimum balances or deposit requirements.” Also, interest is paid out DAILY…that’s absolutely incredible. The “catch” here is that because Robinhood isn’t technically a “bank,” you’re actually opening a brokerage account where your money isn’t FDIC insured. So instead, they offer SIPC Insurance. SIPC protects you up to $250,000 in cash, or $500,000 in assets upon broker failures…this means that if Robinhood ever closed down due to financial difficulties and assets went missing, SIPC steps in to help return client’s money. This does NOT apply if Robinhood mismanages funds or breaks regulation. It’s not quite as strong as FDIC insurance, but it’s relatively safe as long as Robinhood is in compliance. Another small risk here is that the President and CEO of SIPC claims that “SIPC protects cash that is deposited with a brokerage firm for one limited purpose...the purpose of purchasing securities. Cash deposited for other reasons would not be protected.” Robinhood claims that because the checking and saving products are technically part of a brokerage account, they would be protected by SIPC like other brokerage assets. People can trade stocks and other assets through the brokerage using the money in these checking and savings accounts. Personally, this sounds a little sneaky of Robinhood to call this a “checking account”…but characterize it as a brokerage account. So how are they able to even pay out a 3% in the first place? The way I see it, this is their cost of customer acquisition. This is how much they believe ONE customer is worth to them, long term. They want people to talk about it, they want people to be Robinhood customers, and in order to do that, they have to do something DRAMATIC…otherwise no one would bother moving their money over. Fortunately for them, this is just going to be a Short Term loss…I have a feeling we’ll see ALL checking accounts offering a 3% interest rate in the next 10-15 months. And by then, they lose the early mover advantage of offering this before anyone else. Here’s what I think is going to happen…this is going to be a loss leader for the company. I also think Robinhood is going to SIGNIFICANTLY underestimate how many people will sign up for this service, as well. But as long as they have the funds, they will manage just fine. Now of course you run the small risk of them being a newer company that’s not FDIC insured…and the “Risk” is really only for an extra 1% compared to keeping your money in Ally, for instance…so is it worth the risk? Maybe. Also if something happens to Robinhood and they break the law, and SIPC insurance says “you called it a checking account, we’re not covering it”…you might be out of luck. The good news is that Robinhood doing this forces OTHER companies to be more aggressive with their checking and savings account returns, and I bet we’re going to see many other companies follow this move coming in January! Adagio Investment Banking Services for Private Real Estate Operators
Residential income experiences less volatility than any other asset class's fundamental valuation metric, which means residential real estate securities, when properly structured and managed, offer the potential to generate the best risk-adjusted returns. For this reason, we strive to bridge the divide between responsible real estate operators and the private capital markets by offering the exclusive financial skills of risk engineering and capital formation to the private real estate investor market. Unlike crowdfunding, our investment banking services afford real estate investors the opportunity to responsibly raise both debt and equity capital on their own terms and in unlimited quantities via an investment fund dedicated to capitalizing their business. To accomplish this task, we establish quantitative risk management protocols for strategically designed financial products under an institutional-grade private equity or hedge fund structure, and develop compliant marketing channels for their distribution in cooperation with our partner broker-dealer.

BREAKING NEWS - Stifel Agrees To Buy MainFirst Bank
Stifel Financial Corp. agreed to buy the equity research and brokerage operations of Germany’s MainFirst Holding AG for an undisclosed sum, enabling the U.S. firm and its London subsidiary to offer financial services in the European Union after Britain leaves the bloc. As part of the deal, Stifel’s London unit will acquire MainFirst businesses in Germany, Switzerland and the U.S. MainFirst holds a full German banking license, enabling Stifel to offer advisory, brokerage and investment banking services as well as clear and settle trades after Brexit. Stifel joins a host of overseas banks in London that are grappling with the implications of Brexit more than two years after the poll took place. It remains unclear what access London-based firms will have to EU-based clients after the formal exit takes place next year. Some of Stifel’s larger rivals, including Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley, are setting up new trading hubs in Frankfurt and Paris to serve EU clients rather than acquiring local companies.

Sell side vs Buy side Analysts
This video discusses the difference between sell-side analysts and buy-side analysts. Sell-side analysts typically work for a brokerage firm or an investment bank and follow one or more companies within a specific industry. They forecast a company's earnings per share, issue a price target for the stock, and provide buy/sell/hold recommendations in the hope that investors would find the information useful and choose to do business with their investment bank or brokerage firm. Buy-side analysts, on the other hand, typically work for a pension fund, charitable foundation, or other large investor. The buy-side analyst's job is to identify attractive investment opportunities for their employer. A pension fund with $100 million to invest would rely on buy-side analysts to determine the appropriate investment strategy. Buy-side analysts in turn may interact with and rely on the information provided by sell-side analysts. Edspira is your source for business and financial education. 21. Exchanges, Brokers, Dealers, Clearinghouses
Financial Markets (2011) (ECON 252) As the starting point for this lecture, Professor Shiller contrasts the view of economics as the theory of the allocation of scarce resources with the view of economics as the study of exchange. After a discussion of the difference between brokers and dealers, he outlines the history of securities exchanges from ancient Rome, to the Amsterdam Stock Exchange and Jonathan's Coffee House in London, until the formation of the New York Stock Exchange. He complements this historic account with an overview of securities exchanges all over the world, covering India, China, Brazil, and Mexico. An example of a limit order book allows him to elaborate on the mechanics of trading at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automatic Quotation System (NASDAQ). Subsequently, he turns his attention to the growing importance of program trading and high frequency trading, but also discusses their impact on the stock market crash from October 19, 1987, as well as on the Flash Crash from May 6, 2010. When talking about fairness in financial markets, particularly with regard to the relation between private investors and brokers, he discusses the National Market System (NMS), the Intermarket Trading System (ITS), and consolidated quotation systems. He concludes this lecture with some reflections on the operations of dealers, addressing the role of inside information and the Gambler's Ruin problem. 00:00 - Chapter 1.
