What Techniques Do Business Analysts Use?

09:21
This KnowledgeKnugget™ (KK) is part of an eCourse "Business Analysis Defined". VIEW COURSE OUTLINE at http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-business-analysis-defined/. Also available as Paperback or Kindle eBook at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K7MM50O/. DESCRIPTION: Although the field of IT Business Analysis offers great career opportunities for those seeking employment, some business analysis skills are essential for any adult in the business world today. For example, the task of defining the requirements for an IT solution is handed to Business Analysts as well as Subject Matter Experts, Developers, System Analysts, Product Owners, Project Managers, Line Managers, or any other business expert. Applying business analysis techniques to define their business needs results in much higher chances for a successful IT project. In this KnowledgeKnugget™ you will learn what business analysis techniques and tools are most commonly used around the world based on surveys of actual business analysts. This KnowledgeKnugget™ answers questions like: 1. What are the primary activities in business analysis? 2. What tools or techniques do they use? To view more IT requirements training, visit the Business Analysis Learning Store at http://businessanalysisexperts.com/business-analysis-training-store/. PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT: Business analysis is the process of studying a business or any other organization to identify business opportunities / problem areas and suggest potential solutions. A wide range of people with various titles, roles and responsibilities actually apply business analysis techniques within an organization. There are three fundamentally different flavors or levels of business analysis: 1. Strategic Business Analysis (aka Enterprise Analysis) (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/strategic-business-analysis/ ) 2. Tactical Business Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/tactical-business-analysis/) 3. Operational Business Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/operational-business-analysis/Operational Business Analysis) Strategic Business Analysis is the study of business visions, goals, objectives, and strategies of an organization or an organizational unit to identify the desired future. It encompasses the analysis of existing organizational structure, policies, politics, problems, opportunities, and application architecture to build a business case for change. This analysis employs business analysis techniques such as Variance Analysis, Feasibility Analysis, Force Field Analysis, Decision Analysis, and Key Performance Indicators to support senior management in the decision-making process. The primary outcome of this work is a set of defined, prioritized projects and initiatives that the organization will undertake to create the desired future. If the initiative includes the development of software using an Agile Software Development Methodology (SDM) (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/business-analysis-agile-methodologies/), strategic business analysis techniques identify themes and/or epics, and initiate a product backlog. Tactical Business Analysis is at the project or initiative level to flush out the details of the proposed solution and to ensure that it meets the needs of the business community. Commonly used business analysis techniques at this level include Stakeholder Identification (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/how-to-identify-stakeholders-it-projects/), Interviewing (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/requirements-elicitation-gathering-business-stakeholder-it-requirements/), Facilitation (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/how-to-facilitate-requirements-gathering-workshops/), Baselining, Coverage Matrices, MoSCoW Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/requirements-prioritization-two-simple-techniques/), Benchmarking, Business Rules Analysis, Change Management, Process and Data Modeling (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/business-data-modeling-informational-requirements/), and Functional Decomposition (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-exposing-functional-and-non-functional-requirements/). In an Agile environment, Tactical Business Analysis adds to the Product Backlog and/or Release Plans expressed in Themes, Business Epics, Architecture Epics, User Stories (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-writing-user-stories/), and User Story Epics. In a traditional setting, the primary outcome of Tactical Business Analysis is a set of textual and/or modeled Business and Stakeholder Requirements (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-writing-requirements/). ..........

How to Avoid Bad Trades by using Volume Analysis as a Filter

08:13
Filtering Out Bad Trades with Volume. http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/strategies/day-traders.html PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! In the last lesson, we looked at filtering out bad trades and how that can help improve overall performance. Specifically in the last lesson we were looking at the range indicator, on the basis that we want to trade on financial securities that are volatile and to skip trading on securities that are not providing much movement. Another way to determine whether the financial security’s worth trading on is to look at the amount of volume being traded. Again, we are using this as an indication that there is some action going on, and general market interest in the product. We take the view that a stock or index which is not arousing much interest in the markets will not give us much action in the price. As an example, when you are day trading it can pay to look at the first 15 minutes of the trading day. Straightaway this will give you an indication of other traders’ involvement in the market, and allow you to see if it is worth taking time to study and trade on the security. You may have no idea what a typical trading volume looks like for the stock, but it is easy to scroll back in the chart and look at other opening hours to see what is normal. We would like to see the volume hitting similar or higher levels. When we looking for a stock to trade, in order to get some involvement we would pay particular interest around the time of the earnings announcements, when there is some news involved in the product, and also of course when there are gaps in the chart. All these actions tend to promote interest and activity in the price. Looking at volumes of transactions can also show you if there is interest, even outside these times. And on the other hand, if there is barely a ripple in volume in the wake of an earnings announcement, it shows you that the stock is not worth trading on anyway at this time. So we can set a filter on our chart to determine when we want to start following it. As a guide, you might want to say that if the current trading volume is less than half of recent maximum volume then the market has little interest in it, and it will be as well to look for another security to trade today. As with the previous lesson, we are simply trying to filter out stocks and securities which don’t appear to be having much activity and in which there is little interest. There are many stocks and securities in many markets that you can trade on. Novices often ask where they should start. It can seem overwhelming. But if you can start applying filters to the favourite markets, then you can focus down on the ones which will be worthwhile for you to trade. There are several other ways that you can filter out bad trades, which will be explained in the coming lessons.

People as Objects – "I am a Sword" Analysis (Adventure Time)

21:36
A central theme in the episode “I Am a Sword” is the relationship between people and objects. This is predominantly explored by building on the relationship between Finn and his sword (which is also Finn), but the topic is alluded to in many scenes. This analysis video dissects the episode and explores the ways it incorporates objectification, objects as identity, personification of objects, and how these concepts reveal details about Finn, Finn Sword, Jake, Bandit Princess, and the other featured characters (BMO, Science Cat, Spear Bear, Badfoot Money, and Box Prince). Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use. FAIR USE DEFINITION: (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use) Fair use is a doctrine in the United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as for commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching or scholarship. It provides for the legal, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author’s work under a four-factor balancing test. The term “fair use” originated in the United States. A similar principle, fair dealing, exists in some other common law jurisdictions. Civil law jurisdictions have other limitations and exceptions to copyright. - (https://www.multiplechronicconditions.org/fair-use-act-disclaimer) The "Fifth Factor" - Transformative Use Transformative use is a relatively new addition to fair use law, having been first raised in a Supreme Court decision in 1994. (Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, 510 U.S. 569 (1994.) A derivative work is transformative if it uses a source work in completely new or unexpected ways. Importantly, a work may be transformative, and thus a fair use, even when all four of the statutory factors would traditionally weigh against fair use! Parody: Parody is one of the most clearly identified transformative uses, but any use of a source work that criticizes or comments on the source may be transformative in similar ways. Legal analysis about this kind of transformative use often engages with free speech issues. New Technologies: Courts have sometimes found copies made as part of the production of new technologies to be transformative uses. One very concrete example has to do with image search engines: search companies make copies of images to make them searchable, and show those copies to people as part of the search results. Courts found that those thumbnail images were a transformative use because the copies were being made for the transformative purpose of search indexing, rather than simple viewing. Other Transformative Uses: Because transformative use is a relatively new part of copyright law, it is still developing. Many commentators suggest that audio and video mixes and remixes are examples of transformative works, as well as other kinds of works that use existing content to do unexpected and new things. There is a lot of room for argument and interpretation in transformative use! - (https://www.lib.umn.edu/copyright/fairuse)

Ramírez, Rubén Commissioning and start-up is the final step before production runs in a processing plant. During this step, it's usual that several problems take place in the machinery. Machinery start-up and adjustments in the process conditions cause vibrations in the units. Centrifugal compressors are especially sensitive machines during this process and very critical. Thus vibration analysis is an important tool to detect mechanical failures and even imbalances in the process. Historical cases such as: oil-whirl, surge and other defects will be presented in this workshop

Response Spectrum Analysis as per IS1983 in Staad Pro. V8i http://civildigital.com/response-spectrum-analysis-as-per-is1983-in-staad-pro-v8i-dynamic-analysis/ http://civildigital.com/?p=1963 Response Spectrum Specification as per the Indian IS:1893 (Part 1)-2002 Code for Dynamic Analysis Methodology The design lateral shear force at each floor in each mode is computed by STAAD in accordance with the IS: 1893 (Part 1) -2002 equation 7.8.4.5c and 7.8.4.5d. Qik = Ak*fik*Pk*Wi STAAD utilizes the following procedure to generate the lateral seismic loads. 1. User provides the value for Z/2*I/R as factors for input spectrum 2. Program calculates time periods for first six modes or as specified by the user. 3. Program calculates Sa/g for each mode utilizing time period and damping for each mode. 4. The program calculates design horizontal acceleration spectrum Ak for different modes. 5. The program then calculates mode participation factor for different modes. 6. The peak lateral seismic force at each floor in each mode is calculated. 7. All response quantities for each mode are calculated. 8. The peak response quantities are then combined as per method (CQC or SRSS or ABS or TEN or CSM) as defined by the user to get the final results. Soft Storey Checking For details on the Soft Storey Checking option, see the chapter detailed in Section 5.31.2.5 Definition of Lateral Seismic Load per Indian IS:1893 (Part 1) -- 2002 Code.

Decision Tree Analysis and Decision Structure - DAT410 Milestone 1

03:26
Guidance on decision structure analysis as required for Milestone 1. In this video, I'll show you how to implement a decision structure using a decision tree. Though this assignment doesn't require a decision tree analysis, the point of this video is to show you how to design a decision structure or tree that categorizes all variables. Hence, given the predetermined components or nodes of your decision structure, you may use a decision tree or a hierarchical map to show how you would make decisions. You would be showing how each node or component determines the final outcome. Adapted from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5yWr1hr6QY For a further understanding of decision trees, you should check out this link: https://youtu.be/e6zUzKi6H34 A decision tree is a decision support tool that uses a tree-like graph or model of decisions and their possible consequences, including chance event outcomes, resource costs, and utility. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decision_tree Everything you need to know about decision tree diagrams, including examples, definitions, how to draw and analyze them, and how they're used in data https://www.lucidchart.com/pages/decision-tree Decision Tree Analysis, a great decision-making tool https://www.toolshero.com/decision-making/decision-tree-analysis/ Southern New Hampshire University Data Visualization DAT410
