Harry Potter Characters: In the Books Vs. In the Movies

12:33
What if the characters of "Harry Potter" looked like they did in the Books? J.K. Rowling brought us the world of Harry Potter and endowed it with an impressive number of secrets. However, some characters don’t match their descriptions from the books. Did you know that when the first book was written, Professor Snape was just over thirty? Watch this video for more surprising details! TIMESTAMPS Harry Potter 0:52 Hermione Granger 1:39 Ron Weasley 2:42 Severus Snape 3:27 Albus Dumbledore 4:22 Alastor Moody 5:18 Viktor Krum 6:10 Petunia Dursley 7:05 Minerva McGonagall 7:54 Dolores Umbridge 8:47 Rufus Scrimgeour 9:42 Bill Weasley 10:40 Narcissa Malfoy 11:37 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -Some of the important aspects of Harry's appearance from the books weren't reflected in the film. According to the books, “the boy who lived” has his mother’s green eyes and the wild hair that refuses to be styled. -The author chose a thick bush of chestnut hair and large front teeth (which she reduced in Goblet of Fire, though, when Malfoy’s spell ricocheted into Hermione) to be Hermione’s distinguishing features. Emma Watson had this “thick bush” only in the first movie and nice teeth from the very beginning. -In the books, Ron has a long nose and freckles that are nowhere to be found on Rupert Grint. -Severus' description in the book says he had “greasy black hair and a hooked nose.” Plus, he was supposed to be just a little older than thirty at the beginning of the first book. -None of the actors who played Dumbledore had his “very long and crooked” nose. -When "Mad-Eye" appears in the book, he is described as a man with a badly disfigured face and tip of the nose. In the movie, however, he looks just fine apart from the famous “mad eye” and several lines on his face. -According to J.K. Rowling's vision, Viktor Krum was tall, slim, and had a hooked nose. Some of these details made it to the film, but most of them, unfortunately, didn't. -In the books, Mrs. Dursley is described as having a long neck that granted her the ability to spy on her neighbors, which she just loved to do, and blonde hair. -In the books, Minerva is described to be a tall, black-haired and kind of severe-looking woman, who, according to Harry's first impression, “is not someone to cross.” -Acoording to J.K. Rowling, Dolores Umbridge looks just as unpleasant on the outside as she truly is inside. She certainly has some resemblance to a frog thanks to her round, bulging eyes, large mouth, and pale, loose skin. -In the book, Rufus Scrimgeour resembled an old lion because of his "mane" of graying ginger hair and his style of clothing. -When we first meet him in the books, Bill Weasley is described to be tall, thin and handsome. He looks like a rock star and usually wears his hair in a ponytail. -In the books, aristocratic Narcissa Malfoy is tall and very pale. According to Harry, she looks like “she's got dung under her nose.” Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brightside/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brightgram/ SMART Youtube: https://goo.gl/JTfP6L 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: https://www.goo.gl/8JVmuC Have you ever seen a talking slime? TOP 10 Films Stocks Photographers Prefer

19:55
Discover which are the TOP 10 films photographer prefers. Thanks to my FILM DATING tool, I was able to pull out some stats of the most popular choices among photographers. FILM DATING LINK: http://oneyearwithfilmonly.com/film-dating MY NEW TRAVEL VIDEO CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2cTZZRn5AnmcXtVLAX0-pw LINK TO ORIGINAL ARTICLE: https://www.oneyearwithfilmonly.com/single-post/TOP-10-films-photographers-prefer First Roll of Ilford HP5: https://www.oneyearwithfilmonly.com/single-post/2016/07/24/Film-Review-Roll-1-ILFORD-HP5-120 TRANSCRIPT : When a new film photographer asks the community which films are the best, all voices tend to agree on Porta, Tri-X, and HP5 but are these the most favourite? In this article, we are going to look at the top 10 films photographers prefer. If you've been following the blog for a while now, you've certainly tried at least once the Film Dating tool I've developed. It's been a few month since I launched it and its popularity went way beyond my expectations. So far 38,582 people tried it! That was a huge surprise for me to see how it's been welcomed by you guys! SO THANK YOU 👍 This unexpected popularity gave me the opportunity to gather enough information about the films you prefer. That doesn't necessarily mean that these films are the most sold but it gives us a solid base on which aesthetic pleases you the most.  I'm not going to keep you waiting any longer so without further due, let's have a look at the 10 films that appear the most in the results, starting from the least favourite to the most: 10 - CineStill 50 - Vincent Moschetti  9 - Fomapan 400 - Jaroslav A. Polák - https://goo.gl/yFCjof 8 - Lomography Color 100 - Khánh Hmoong - https://goo.gl/DTb4JT 7 - Kodak Portra 160 - Simon - https://goo.gl/Ui4iAg 6 - Ilford HP5+ 400 - Greg Ramirez - https://goo.gl/qWxBFz 5 - Fuji Pro 400H - Matteo Bagnoli - https://goo.gl/qZ671u 4 - Lomography Color 400 - Nick Page - https://goo.gl/vm48Eg 3 - Kodak Ektar 100 - Hui Chitlam - https://goo.gl/q4SmwY 2 - Kodak Portra 400 - Fahim Fadzlishah - https://goo.gl/HvhF4z 1 - Kodak TX 400 - Erika Morais - https://goo.gl/LxZe7S From this list we can notice a few interesting points:  The most favourite film is a Black & White  I think that's not a surprise at all. The first roll of film I shot was a roll of HP5 and I'm sure many photographers step into film with BW. There's an aesthetic that's more appealing than digitally converted RAW files and it's also the "easiest" or most accessible film to develop at home. One thing I wasn't expecting is to see Ilford HP5 so far away from its historical competitor. Clearly, Kodak still has the lead on the monochrome films. There is no film rated higher than ISO 400 Another interesting point that tells us people don't like much the look of film in low light. It's true that shooting film at night can be tricky and the choice of fast film is rather limited. We have of course CineStill 800 that's doing a great job in low light and especially when pushed 1 or 2 stops as you can see in one of my previous articles.  I'm just surprised to see that we have its little brother the CineStill 50 instead of the 800 in the top 10. It's true that the look of this film is absolutely stunning but the 800 version seems to be so popular that I would have expected to see it instead. Fujifilm is on the way out While Fuji is taking the lead on the digital side of photography and imposing its Instax as the standard for instant films, they've been letting analog photography on the side of the road. Their catalog is getting smaller and smaller, and I don't see them jumping back on the train anytime soon.  Fuji Pro 400H is probably the only Fuji film that I could shoot with and still, I'm not a big fan of its colours. Clearly, Kodak is doing a better job here. Lomography is in the game Lomography has played a major role in the resurgence of film and that's no surprise to see 2 of their films in the TOP 10. Over the past years, they've been bringing to the market new fun cameras and cool looking film. You may like their products or not but we all have to say them a big THANK YOU for what they've done to keep film alive. Kodak rules!  With 3 films on the 3 first places, Kodak clearly leads the market and I can imagine that's not a surprise to anyone. The market is driven by this company since longer than most of us can recall. Even if other manufacturers have been trying to compete against them, they are still one step ahead. In total, they've gathered an impressive 40% of the results! Well done Kodak and please keep on working bringing new films back to the market!  Here are just a few more numbers to conclude this article:   - TOP 10 films represent 82% of the total results. - On the Film Dating, there is a total of 48 film stocks listed. - 38 films are sharing the 18% left of the results (also sharing with people that abandoned the test).

10 Facts Movie Theaters Don't Want You to Know

09:42
We all love movie theaters for the special feeling they give with fantastic special effects, complete sound immersion and the taste of popcorn. Would you still love them just as much if you found out their secrets movie theater owners don’t want you to know? We’re going to unveil 10 movie theater secrets. In cinemas, many people can’t always keep their feelings to themselves and that’s normal. For example, a movie about cannibals called Raw appeared to be too hard to watch for a couple of visitors at The Toronto International Film Festival in 2016. The people fainted and one of them hit his head badly during the fall. Digital devices can do everything on their own, and there are more automatic processes at a cinema than there were during the previous century. Keep it in mind that in case there are some problems with a projector (the image is blurred, not centered, etc.), you’ll have to stand up and go notify a staff member in the lobby. 20% of the population, including Johnny Depp himself, simply can’t perceive those three dimensions. Harvard Medical School neurobiology professor Dr. Margaret S. Livingstone explains it could be due to stereo-blindness when eyes can’t see in 3D because of the way they are aligned. If you love cleanliness that much, try to visit the cinema in the morning and avoid going there on Friday and Saturday nights when a lot of other people go out to the movies. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS The biggest part of the profit isn’t earned by ticket sales. 0:49 There’s a lot of piracy. 2:45 A younger audience can watch adult-rated movies. 3:35 Viewers cry, weep, and run out of the hallways. 4:11 Creative ways to sneak in food 5:19 Many people avoid 3D films. 5:57 If there’s something wrong with the picture, the projection booth worker won’t help. 6:58 Cinema halls are full of garbage on weekend nights. 7:38 People often fight at the movies. 8:32 You are being watched! 9:00 SUMMARY -Theaters have to pay a lot to film studios in the first two months of distribution so they have to make their money out of concession. -The cinema staff members who manage to prevent movie theft get a $500 prize. -The younger generations buy a ticket when two movies start simultaneously, and one of them is not R-rated. -A movie about cannibals called Raw appeared to be too hard to watch for a couple of visitors at The Toronto International Film Festival in 2016. The people fainted and one of them hit his head badly during the fall. -One couple stuffed a truckload of food into an infant’s car seat and went to watch a movie. A girl from put some pasta into zip-lock bags and brought them into the cinema with her. -3D glasses give you an illusion of being inside a movie and it drives your visual analyzer crazy. -Even though a movie projector has to be programmed during the day, there’s nobody sitting in the booth when you watch a movie. -A short break between two movies is not enough time for a cinema staff to thoroughly clean up a theater. -Someone who loves to fight will always find a reason to do so. It could be that someone took someone else’s parking place, they talked on the phone during the movie, or someone is chomping too loudly. -Thanks to security cameras, movie theater staff can spot and kick out couples that go too far on their “loveseats”. What Your Favorite 90s Movie Actors Look Like Now

11:26
Before we had social media celebrities, this status was solely reserved for movie stars. And those were the people that kids of the 90s looked up to. Beethoven, Home Alone, Ghostbusters, it was a time of cinematic gold! But where are our favorite 90s actors nowadays? Have they changed much? Bright Side decided to answer this question and find out what happened to our favorite actors’ lives and careers. If you wanna know how your first ever on-screen crush or idol is doing in 2018, watch our new video! Preview photo credit: SCOOBY-DOO, Matthew Lillard, Scooby Doo, 2002: By Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection/East News, https://www.eastnews.ru/pictures/picture/id/21187459/i/0/t/0 Matthew Lillard BAD WORDS FILM PREMIERE Hollywood. And even though the movie became an instant classic, Porter pretty much vanished from the big screen after a few guest-starring roles. - You may remember Kelly McGillis from her hit roles in Witness alongside Harrison Ford and Top Gun with Tom Cruise. She’d built up quite the filmography before she decided to end her career to spend more time with her family. - Meg Ryan was a true star of rom-coms and dramas of the 90s. Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail, Kate & Leopold: that's only a few of her spectacular roles that made the world fall in love with her. - Do you remember Ted from the Beethoven movies or nerdy Mark from Step by Step? These characters were made famous by Christopher Castile, who also took part in several made-for-TV films of the early 90s. - Nicholle Tom is famous for her roles in The Nanny and Beverly Hills, 90210. But her big break was, once again, in Beethoven. Unlike Castile, though, Nicholle decided to proceed with her acting career and continued working in movies and TV shows. - Marlon Wayans is definitely an actor with a huge range, from the hilarious Scary Movie franchise to the dark and depressing Requiem for a Dream. - Matthew Lillard is an instantly recognizable dude and stands out in pretty much every movie he’s in, whether it’s Scream, Senseless, She’s All That, Scooby Doo, or any other role on his very lengthy filmography. - Ah, the iconic Bill Murray! We know him as Dr. Peter Venkman from the Ghostbusters movies, but this 68-year-old actor has a decade-spanning career full of incredibly famous roles. - Alicia Silverstone gained instant fame for her brilliant portrayal of Cher Horowitz in the 1995 movie Clueless. After that, she appeared in other successful films like Batman and Robin, Excess Baggage, and Blast from the Past. - Jean Reno's role in The Professional both captured and broke our hearts all at the same time. So it's no surprise that the French actor immediately caught Hollywood’s attention. - Andie MacDowell started her career in the 80s as a really successful model but then tried her hand at acting. And it was definitely a right move! Green Card, Groundhog Day, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and that's still not the whole list of the major movies she played in. Ah, the iconic Bill Murray! - Nicholas Cage was a busy guy in the 90s! Actually, with over 100 movies in his personal filmography, he just doesn’t quit! - We’ll forever remember Jeff Daniels for his goofball role in Dumb & Dumber. It was this classic comedy that gained him international fame, but the actor also played in tons of other movies in the 90s, like 101 Dalmatians, Pleasantville, and My Favorite Martian. - Everybody remembers Janice from Friends, and we can thank Maggie Wheeler for bringing this character to life and leaving us laughing until we cry! And even though it's been more than 20 years since she started playing Janice, she continues to give us comedic cold! With this in mind, we chose to take an exclusive look at all their nooks and crannies, and we came up kicking. Believe it or not, but Disney never fails to surprise us with new information. However, we need to dig up the facts for them to confirm them. While some fan theories eventually became factual, others miss the mark by a longshot. Could You Survive The Movies? MAD MAX

30:05
WATCH the BEHIND THE SCENES: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG3VNLWzJm8&index=2&list=PLiyjwVB09t5yXCYpZkOgxO9dV-XJypmNj Could You Survive The Movies?: Mad Max is a science film that explores the science behind what you see in movies; specifically George Miller’s modern day classic, Mad Max: Fury Road. Host Jake Roper (me) takes you on an immersive ride through the world, blending scientific exploration with narrative storytelling. The episode follows Jake as he attempts to avoid capture by the Immortan and her horde while simultaneously testing the viability of surviving Fury Road and all the challenges it presents. Jake’s experimentation runs the gamut from determining if it’s possible to survive being strapped to the front of a moving car to finding out what would really happen if you got caught in a movie sized explosion. In addition to practical experiments, Jake dives into the science of the world…from how humanity could end up in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, to where to find water, to using live humans as blood bags. It’s equal parts entertainment and education all while celebrating the incredible film Mad Max: Fury Road. ***LINKS TO ADDITIONAL READING*** Global Consequences of Multiple Nuclear Explosions https://atmos.washington.edu/~ackerman/Articles/Turco_Nuclear_Winter_83.pdf Regional Nuclear War https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/2013EF000205 Plasma Separation from Blood https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20565382 Introduction to Fuel and Energy http://eyrie.shef.ac.uk/eee/cpe630/comfun1.html Effects of Horizontal Acceleration https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4306901/ Blast Wave & Fragment Velocities https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/prep.201600073 Blast Overpressure http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a347634.pdf Desertification https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/Desertification/desertification2.php BP Fuel Study https://www.bp.com/content/dam/bp/en/corporate/pdf/energy-economics/statistical-review/bp-stats-review-2018-full-report.pdf Groundwater and Surface Water https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/circ1139/
